I thought it was bad when I got a 3 day suspension for selling something I didn't know was prohibited. I can only imagine what he is going through. How Awful!
His was basically the same. Selling items that he didnt have the exact reciepts needed. Ebay alerted him prior and Chris provided what he thought they needed. Ebay lists the Vero items so you know what you shouldnt be selling even though people still do even using the sell similar option and what they need for as provenace for high priced items. He said he played with fire. You also can keep yourself off their watch list.
I was suspended for 3 maybe 4 years. They told me I was banned forever after a board review they say. They gave me another chance I guess when they needed the numbers. If he is smart enough, he will survive with or without them.
You've been saying this for a LONG time. Diversifying your sales, going to different platforms. I only sell on eBay and Mercari, but I'm thinking of checking other avenues now as well. Mercari, I find only certain things (Like Nintendo Stuff) sells for good value there, most things you're better off on eBay. Best of luck to him.
Your missing the facts, he was selling sample shoes which is illegal since those shoes are not on the market. So someone at nike was stealing them and selling to chris
I was just banned permanently from eBay as well. I only had my first ever item there. I got no explanation. Item was Finnish exclusive SingStar game for PS3. I don't understand why this happened
Nike is brutal. I've been vero-ed twice for cheap used items because I'm in Canada (without the GSP) and Nike won't let used items be sold to an area where the item wasn't specifically released. I had to talk to lawyer to even figure out what the VeRO was saying. Not even eBay could explain it to me. Now I won't sell any Nike items outside of Canada but even that could get me in trouble f I cannot prove that the stupid used sports bra was originally available for purchase in Canada.
Dang, definitely unfortunate for Chris. Getting permabanned is a nightmare for me since I only sell on eBay and a little bit of FB Marketplace/local. I’m not much into the shoe market though. I’ll have to be careful if I do get into it.
I still don't get why ebay doesn't have an automated warning when you try to list something from on the vero list, there's so many there it's near impossible to remember all the brands and terms. Also, I've never really understood how they can stop you selling an authentic item secondhand that you own, these big brands must be paying eBay huge amounts. Last year I had a Prada leather briefcase. Got my first vero as Prada joined vero a week after I listed. They even said it was authentic, just that I couldn't sell it. Obv other ways to sell but rather irritating.
I work for a lady that runs estate sales. After the sale is over it's my job to remove the trash and everything left over from the sale. I don't get paid. I do get to keep anything left that I want. Some of that stuff ends up on ebay, I don't have receipts but if a question arises about where did I get the stuff from the police I can just tell them to contact the estate sale lady she'll tell the cops I got it from her. If ebay asks me for a receipt I guess I'm screwed.
I tried to work with ebay, turns out that even with pick up only or buyer provides shipping is what messed with my business as I used to sell large household items an with the buyer providing shipping was able to put in a refund request due to item not received??? Also as a kicker on top of that they even gave feedback that item was in perfect condition an loved the item... but never received it... honestlyhow does that even work?
Im not sad for him at all. If anything it is a blessing for him. He talked up strats for ebay and in the end he forgot to protect himself. On top of that, this just shows that ebay doesn't support sellers.
I have always worried about this same thing, so finally this year I am opening my own store and will be creating my own sellable website. I will still use the main platforms, but now I will have 2 major platforms that are in my total control.
That is a good idea, only problem I see with that is increased overhead for miniscule traffic (in comparison to the top selling platforms), but obviously less risky since well, the only way you can get shut down is if they basically contact your ISP or whoever is servicing your domain to shut it down
@@TachibanaTengoku I get it for sure, but I will still be using the other channels as well, but think about how you bought the barn games. Chris mentions that his friend Prince was ban from eBay because the makers of Gopro did not recognize him as a seller for their product. Even, though he was buying them directly from a GoPro authorized distributor. So it seems, if you show up on some companies' radar for making money off of their product. They can shut you down now, even if you show proof of purchase. Chris signed a NDA for reduced fees on the sneakers he was selling. I stand corrected, it was not for shipping.
No no, sneaker fees was 0% last year when he was selling them for the most part, it was a promotional thing they had going. The reduced fees was for his entire store in general, and he has an NDA so he can't disclose the exact % of fees he was paying. IE I pay 12% for video games (minus 10% so 10.8% cuz I'm top rated seller), but he might have been paying only 8% for games.
I watched Chris' video last night and was stunned. He definitely got hit by Nike. I'm sure it has something to do with the high end samples and probably the 0 fees promotion last year on shoes. You'd think since the shoes went through eBays authentication system it would have earned him at least a warning first. Really sucks he won't be able to continue on eBay. His inventory system is second to none and if I went full time reselling I'd model mine after his. You're right though, he's a smart guy and he'll be ok in whatever avenue he chooses next.
I’m a small seller of mainly vintage tshirts and eBay banned me for life without any warnings. I talked to anyone that would listen an all they would say is it’s fraud. I’m out!
EBAY do not need reasons to ban your account. We did everything by the book and still was banned for life from EBAY. We listed our first item and half an hour later our account was suspended. The product was bought from a legitimate wholesaler and we forwarded the receipt to EBAY. As this was our first item and the listing was only up for half an hour there had been no customer contact. There had been no sales so obviously it was impossible for us to have broken any of EBAY's regulations. This was just a wifi speaker priced at 49 euro on EBAY. And we bought the item from the official wholesaler and EBAY was shown the receipt from them. And then they refused to give the reason why our account was banned. My impression is that EBAY has a substantial shift in their business model and want to squeeze out the individual sellers and focus on the big chinese vendors who sells dirt cheap but in large numbers. So EBAY run by double standards. They throw the book at the little guy for no reason and have the luxury and arrogance not having to explain themselves and then they let the big vendors who bring in the big cash get away with breaking every rule in the book. So EBAY is not what it used to be. And that is why more and more of both customers and sellers leave the platform.
Any reselling platform will take the same stance. Rare, high end items selling over a period of months must have a paper trail, receipts from legit suppliers. They could have been stolen goods. They were prototypes. Fully authenticated by Ebay, but no receipts of where they came from! No you can't build up on another platform with these same items. Just trouble anywhere you go.
I think this will lend some credit to grade items as well. I know the issue wasn't them being authentic, but having graded items might help with credibility.
Main issue was he sold all the high priced shoes during their promotion and Ebay didnt get to capitalize on it. Nike and ebay knew they were one of a kinds and knew who owned them and even had the authenticated. This was just about a sore losing company
Don't sell or wear Nike. I'm dumping my Nike things in a garage sale. This isn't the 1st time they go after the little guy. You'd think they would just warn the seller because he claims he ran the shoes through the verification team. How about Ebay make a list of all vero products so we don't accidentally buy it to resell. And put Nike on it? Just a simple list for amateurs so they don't warn you after you've bought it for re-sale.
Ah but that would require a basic level of competence from eBay, it's unfair to ask it of them. If they have to do their job this time they might have to do it all the time.
@@pnw-coast When I search "Vero list" in the sellers center. I get a page that explain what it is and what are the various options to resolve the problem....is there an actual list? It would be really nice if you RUclipsrs that were going to make comments about this situation would watch Chris’s videos. He explains what happened…and it had nothing to do with pressure from Nike or anyone else….please go watch his videos to see what he is saying happened…which makes the most sense. These were collector item from a private collection some of which were 20-30 years old so there was no receipts to be had and they were one of a kind prototypes given to celebrities. There was no receipts ever on these items & with no Provenance eBay has the right to do whatever they want with their platform that’s the bottom line. Please go watch Chris’s videos.
They sure weren't worried about provenance while he was selling $1.8 million worth of shoes. Hell, they offered him a confidential special discount to keep selling them, lol. And it wasn't all high dollar one off collectible shoes. He stated today that his average selling price was $100.00. He also stated today that he doesn't know if someone pressured ebay or not.
@@WellnessWizdom Everybody got 0% fees on athletic shoes over $100. His special NDA fee schedule was for his entire store and is unrelated to the shoe banning situation. He even clarifies that, if you watched his followup videos. And the lower end Nike's were not the problem, just like his clothing sales were not a problem. The problem was the dozens of promo shoes he sold.
If you watched his videos then you certainly heard him say that he didn't get exact details about what the problem was. He doesn't know exactly what happened, only ebay knows and they are not making a public statement about it. The problem was that his friend could not provide invoices that the shoes were ever Sold in the 1st place. So no way to counter Nike's complaint that the promo shoes were not to be sold to the general public. They were gifted to Chris' celebrity friend, and celebrities get them with stipulation that they not be sold. They can be donated to charities, but celebs can't sell them. That is the invoice issue that came into play.
@@coltcampbell8502 no he can't. And no need to feel for him. He knew the whole time what he was doing was shady so it is what it is. He preaches doing stuff the right way then doesn't do it himself??? Stupid
Pretty simple get a receipt. I get them for every item purchased including yard sales so If I can get one as part time reseller 600 items. He certainly could've also as multi million dollar reseller. Dont feel bad for him he will be fine. Just sit back and ask yourself why they kick off multi million dollar seller. Bc if you selling 25k shoes and don't have a receipt...then don't preach to ppl for not listing enough or fast enough. Get a receipt for all these 1 of 1s seems simple guess it wasnt.
Lol even the best seller in the world would make a mistake but Ebay policies are very confusing and they should work on their site to be more comfortable for others
But he was selling sneakers for $1000 that he paid $900 for. So, I dont think it was greed, but street cred to get his sales numbers high. His profit margin was absolutely not worth the risk. Plus, playing with Nike is not wise. Risky items put your account at risk. Period.
@@les0101s He also said it was only profitable because of the 0% fees, and at the current 7% fees it would not be profitable. So do the math to realize he was paying much more than $900 for the shoes that sold for $20k.
Chee, I should sell my box truck, close my warehouse, and sell everything I have. I mean I buy 20,000 items at a time, I don't give itemized receipts. I can't wait until Ebay suspends me for it, I'll take them to arbitration. Where I get my inventory at legally is my trade secret and is not for the eyes of Ebay's outsourced customer service. I wouldn't want Ebay to get upset, they may terrorize me like they did to that poor Natick Couple.
Unfortunately you'd probably lose. Ebay is under no obligation as a private entity to let you sell on their platform, so they can kick you off for no reason given if they so feel like it. It would be a very bad precedent but they can do it, and a judge would agree.
Chris constantly harped on his concept that you have to specialize in a category to be a successful reseller. I disagree and sell any and everything I can find except of course known Vero items and look where this all got him.
If I'm hearing this story right he sold 2 million in sneakers and then couldn't supply any real documentation showing where he got them. 2 MILLION dollars worth. At the same time, in the same state, stores and trains are going robbed of luxury merchandise left and right. All humans get greedy. None of us are immune from bad decisions.
@@pnw-coast A tax id / ein is for a business if you have one. Most ebay ppl do not run a business. Which means ebay will send you a 1040 at the end of the year.

The real loser here is eBay. Daily Refinement said he made 2.5 mil in sales last year. A rough estimate for eBay fees is about 13%. That means ebay is losing out on 325k annually from DR.
I was a top rated seller last year an my fees on tennis shoes which sold for more than $100 was $0. No fees on high -end tennis shoes. I don't think Ebay made much on Chris' deal. $1.8M x 0 =0. Managed pay may have made a 2.9%.
He did $700k in clothing sales, and he gets lower fees than most sellers. So even if he paid 10% then that's only $70k in 2021. That's nothing for a company that has billions in annual revenue. Certainly not enough to fight Nike about prototype OOAK shoes that were not supposed to sold to the general public. It constantly surprises me that so many people on DR videos think he's doing extraordinary numbers, when there are plenty of other sellers doing as much or more than him for more years than him too. He just markets himself better, with YT. His strength is marketing and motivational speaking, not reselling.
@@redwingdog22 The prototype shoes that were never sold to the general public were the problem. Companies give such products to celebs, like Chris' friend, with the stipulation they not be sold. The other Nike's he sold were not problematic, just the promo OOAK ones.

What I can do? I urgently need to resume my sales. Please tell me what you would do in this situation
Thank you
If he had included full disclosure in the description of the product meaning I have no receipts etc. etc. would you have been banned?
I thought it was bad when I got a 3 day suspension for selling something I didn't know was prohibited. I can only imagine what he is going through. How Awful!
He played with fire and got burned. He admitted it and said it was his fault.
Did you happen to post the VERO list? Looked and I can’t find it
Full Vero list can be found in the link in description or vero.eBay.com
And all his high end shoes went thru eBay’s own authentication system
Your missing the facts, he was selling sample shoes which is illegal since those shoes are not on the market. So someone at nike was stealing them and selling to chris
@@79TEOG gotcha. Ebay shouldn’t authenticate them either
Your vero list is not working
Check outside the glass door 8:38 time stamp. Wild badger or something on the loose in your back yard....
Lol we noticed that, a random cat that likes it around here
Yet eBay sides with seller who cant provide tracking number when my items dont arrive
What do you do about buyers who leave feedback like that? I've had a select few who demand refunds in the hopes of getting a partial.
Because the vero list has nothing to do with what you can and can't sell.

I agree with you on repro games. Good solid advice.
Happened to a RUclipser that was experimenting in less than a month. He was selling stickers/decals if I’m not wrong(eBay).
Didn't know that, who was it?
Im not sad for him at all. If anything it is a blessing for him. He talked up strats for ebay and in the end he forgot to protect himself. On top of that, this just shows that ebay doesn't support sellers.

How do I see your local market? I'm in Michigan.
Suspension, by definition, is temporary. If it’s permanent, it’s a ban.
Everybody got 0% fees for athletic shoes over $100 last year.
Shows you dont work for yourself. You work for the platforms and and at any whim they can ban you for any reason or no reason at all.
I’m a small seller of mainly vintage tshirts and eBay banned me for life without any warnings. I talked to anyone that would listen an all they would say is it’s fraud. I’m out!
Lets do class action law suit. Contact me on my channel leave email.
there is also mercari which is a strong performer for me, i prefer it to ebay most of the time, but i sell on all platforms and soon whatnot as well
Wow 👌 awesome video
And that is why more and more of both customers and sellers leave the platform.
i feel for chris, but he will bounce back harder

Any reselling platform will take the same stance. Rare, high end items selling over a period of months must have a paper trail, receipts from legit suppliers. They could have been stolen goods. They were prototypes. Fully authenticated by Ebay, but no receipts of where they came from! No you can't build up on another platform with these same items. Just trouble anywhere you go.
I’m on the way to drop off eBay packages at the post office now lol.
Respects to Chris
I think this will lend some credit to grade items as well. I know the issue wasn't them being authentic, but having graded items might help with credibility.
Chris had all the shoes authenticated through EBay
@@ticktock2383 Definitely! "I know the issue wasn't them being authentic". Just saying grading items will have a bit more credibility in the future
Main issue was he sold all the high priced shoes during their promotion and Ebay didnt get to capitalize on it. Nike and ebay knew they were one of a kinds and knew who owned them and even had the authenticated. This was just about a sore losing company
This is why you shouldn't bother going large scale on ebay. It's just not worth it.
i agree he is a fantastic seller !
That’s a bad situation. Hopefully things work out for him
He's a very smart man, we're eager to see where he takes things in the future.
I’m glad your speaking about this what eBay is doing is bulshit!!
No look into facts of why he was banned. He was selling sample shoes meaning someone at nike was stealing them and selling to him
Invest in creating your own website, that's the end game.
No one should buy slave labor made products
Ah but that would require a basic level of competence from eBay, it's unfair to ask it of them. If they have to do their job this time they might have to do it all the time.
You mean the VERO list that has been on their website for years? It only takes a simple search on their website to find it.

My account was banned too but ☝️☝️☝️Need help??Contact the name above he can help you.
Correct
Dang I feel for Chris, what a nightmare 😳

Agree. Then eBay should get out of the reseller business.
Do you sell that hat as merchandise?! Epic hat! I've seen you wear it before, had to ask.
we do not, we might have something similar in the works though...

Lesson #1..DO NOT SELL NIKE SAMPLE SHOES.😎
Chris constantly harped on his concept that you have to specialize in a category to be a successful reseller. I disagree and sell any and everything I can find except of course known Vero items and look where this all got him.
Hello!
LOL. Leave it o Ebay to push its sellers to other platforms.
If I'm hearing this story right he sold 2 million in sneakers and then couldn't supply any real documentation showing where he got them. 2 MILLION dollars worth. And ebay doesn't send a 1040, they send a 1099K.
The real loser here is eBay. Daily Refinement said he made 2.5 mil in sales last year. A rough estimate for eBay fees is about 13%. That means ebay is losing out on 325k annually from DR.
they dont care
They’re not doing it because they want to. They’re doing it because a BIG fish complained about him.
Nike made an example of him.
It's not bs do what your suppose to do and not stuff you not suppose to do plain and simple
So does Nike own those shoes that were being sold?
@@redwingdog22 The prototype shoes that were never sold to the general public were the problem. Companies give such products to celebs, like Chris' friend, with the stipulation they not be sold. The other Nike's he sold were not problematic, just the promo OOAK ones.
