IMO resellers rarely discuss the seasonality of ebay sales / the importance of multiple income streams. A refreshing take that deserves a deeper dive. Respect!
Wondering what the concern with lower average sales price is? We find that our bread and butter item are the $1 to $15 flips. I find that influencers who state they only pick up 40-50 $ flips are missing out on a lot of potential profit and steer people in the wrong direction. As long as you sell enough the bottom line should be the same if not better since the margins are higher. I see how for you guys it would make a lot more sense to list $100 plus items as there is definitely no shortage of inventory. Anyways love what you guys are doing keep it up!
Time. You only have so much time in the day. Focusing on higher profit items takes less time and brings in the same, or more, profit. It's easier to scale (time-wise) for higher dollar items.
@@BuyHigh-SellLow Completely understand if you have a bunch of inventory sitting. Unfortunately for the majority of us we didn’t just purchase 50,000 games. Comes off as if having a lower average sales price is a bad thing.
The issue is indeed time. List the same amount of items daily… but START with the items that are worth the most. This increases cash flow in the quickest amount of time possible . I understand that having a super high average sales price takes years of hard work and dedication to achieve… I just think everybody should list their best items first BUT should never compromise the daily listing schedule. So if the average sales price has to go down to maintain that, no worries at all! But I would suggest growing slowly and working your way towards increasing that average sales price… one day at a time, one year at a time, etc. Time is always limited and if you can keep margins the same and increase that number, the profit increases. That’s the goal!
The decisions could be where the seller is at his point of career. As you do this longer, knowledge of more profitable items will come, as well as diversity in profitable items. Opportunities to buy will always come. Time becomes an issue when you continue to buy & your pile of inventory continues to grow. Therefore decisions become - quality vs quantity or projects vs easy to list.
@@catrpcrew couldn’t agree more. I guess what I’m trying to say is that average sales price isn’t something someone should gauge their success as a reseller on. But maybe something to watch. I have been reselling full time since 2015 and I find that over time my average sales price hasn’t changed much while my total income has dramatically increased year after year. I like to pay more attention to roi and time spent on my shelves. Knowing I’m sourcing solid items that get out my shop quick with a good return. Anyways you guys are killing it and I’m excited to see what the future holds for you
Sales been slow for me too. Usually bring in 3,000 - 3,500 a week Only brought in 1600 a week for the last 2 weeks I think sales are down for a lot of people in general. 😏
I've also really noticed a significant down in sales as well on eBay. It started sometime in Mid march for me. Last week was the first week where I sort of recovered, but I did post a lot of stuff. Just got to hope for a big summer!
Hey I have a few tips/practices that may help. Instead of focusing on that high of an average sale I would go more towards increasing the number of items per day. I’ve made this switch and now post 60 5 days a week at an average of $32. Once the algorithm catches up you’ll sell what you post everyday. That’s my 2 cents love the videos man keep it up!!
Love this type of content. Your strategy is sound. You should easily up your average withe these high dollar offerings. A follow up on this would be great!
Hey Chase. Don't forget to have the biggest video game garage sale of the year! You'll make money even if it's not your highest dollar inventory! And consider doing a video game convention booth where you can sell and source more inventory! That would be very cool to see! Have a good one!
Would focusing on the things you can control like the number of listings per day be better than having goal of 10 sales per day at whatever $ amount? Because sales per day is dependent on the buyers/market. I mean you can offer “sales” or discounts which will help but you’re probably loosing $. Concentrate on number of listenings per day as this is much more achievable goal and everything else will follow? More listings equals better chances of sales? Or am I completely wrong? LOL
You’re right. First and foremost, focus on getting your daily listings up. If that is in place, work on listing highest dollar items first to increase cash flow and average sales price
Been really bad this last week for me too. Got fed up and clearanced a bunch of things over the weekend to get some volume, but yes they were low dollar.
Tradera (Swedish "Ebay") have been pretty slow on sales in march/april and many sellers wonder why. We believe though the raised fuel prices, higher electricity bills and the unstable situation in the world is the cause for it. People like to hold on to their money a little more.
I had to lower my NES and SNES games by 10% to 15% to get them to move, and I had them already listed at Pricecharting levels. People are tightening their belts. The frenzy may have already peaked.
You have the inventory to do it! I'm just amazed what's available in your market. Is it a large market or a small market that you guys live in? I'm in a very small market and have trouble finding the deals you guys get. The most I've been able to achieve is about $100. I did sell silent Hill 3 for $289 on eBay. But that was a while ago
I find myself selling lots of low quality games of the same console, throwing in a few mid tier games to grab attention to the auction. Thats been my favorite way to sell the cheaper stuff
Having an $80 average sale price goal is fine but what are the costs of that $80 sale? Doesn't mean much to have an $80 sale goal if your cost in the sale is $85. You never mention YOUR costs
Hey man! I’ve mentioned it plenty of times before, the average take home of total top line sales is around 25 percent. Should have mentioned that here too! That includes all costs and taxes
my sales slowed down at the end of last week as well. So i dont think its just you. I ramped up to listing 65-100 a day and my traffic is jumping big. hoping sales pick up soon. :)
It has been a little slow, decently consistent for me, but slow. Maybe tax season has something to do with it, deadlines are here, people needing extensions, etc.
Sales are low probably due to Easter holiday and tax season. Lot more people are starting to go out, I can see over the summer things aren't going like they were last year.
Having such a big Inventory why not hiring some clever High School Students to do Mass Listing..... Will reduce Margin a tiny bit (or even increase it if you calculate a reasonable hourly for your own work) but is going to be great for the cashflow...

I would say much of this isn't super advice for your viewers. My guess is you primarily have part time resellers watching. Local lots are going to have $10-20 items. Listing consistently and quickly is more important than focusing on high end items. Focus on average sales price isn't something most of us can do or care about. The feeling that you're a bit disconnected from your viewers is a little stronger with this video. The whatnot focus made me think that in the past and this focus on only high end items isn't helping. I've seen a definite negative turn of opinion of your channel among others (retro rick, phoenix resale) on some of the major retro discords. Still love the channel, just thought I'd throw out those observations.

alot of sells are slow rn. i think we might be going through a recession. ive seen hundreds of videos of people talking about sales beings down
it has been my worst month in 13 months of reselling -- tax season was brutal, I think...
Sales are lower for me too, but most items are $30 or less. All my higher end stuff is still sitting getting no traction
Interesting. The time of year definitely factors in a little bit too. Slow sales time generally speaking
The crazy thing is I just had the best few weeks in years recently. One day was $4.18k, when my average day is just under $400.
