    I put my leafs vertically against the wall of a container. Only the roots and new plant touch the soil. It stops them laying wet and rotting if the soils too moist, also doing it vertical can save space

    : you don’t need soil for the leaf to grow, just grab a bowl or a tray then lay the leaves there, then act like those leaves are your toxic relationships and leave it alone (correct me if I’m wrong)

      @@daym8the baby succulents will grow out of the “mother” leaf which provides it with water until it either dies off or you pick it off.

      They don’t need soil to start growing.
      What I do is put them in a tray like that and move them when they get crowded.

      Lol I just recently found this out! I had 3 fallen leaves & figured I'd put them in soil when they calloused. I put them on the top of my bookshelf by the window sometime in May & completely forgot about them. I remembered them about 2 weeks ago & assumed they were shriveled up but 2 actually had baby plants AND roots! I put them in rooting powder and soil. Sadly they didn't last long, the weather here been overcast with smoke in the air due to wildfires from the previous weeks so they ended up with too much moisture and not enough sunlight. I couldn't believe they actually did better on top of my bookshelf

    I’ve been doing it totally wrong. I have been sticking them in the soil horizontally. Nothing happens lol I’m going to try this. Thanks so much!

    Sometimes I go around Home Depot at the plant section looking for leaves detached from the mother plant just like these that I can take home and regrow lol Saves me money

      Sometimes it can take more than usual. Also during summer, succulent leaves grow slowly....😊😊🌻🌻

      Possibly but remember that not all leaves will take. Give it like a 30% chance the leaf will grow

    That isn’t 100% true, I have a succulent nursery and I put them in normal soil then don’t do anything and they sprout quite fast all though this will work to

      @@thebabythesavage I let them callous first. But before callous process is complete they become mushy.
      I guess temperature and health of the mother plant whose leaf is being used for propogation is the key.

    Wrong side down buddy. They’ll work better the other way. With the stem pointed down and into the soil.

    i tried leaf propergating outside here in Florida. Sadly they die everytime. I tried inside my house where its 73° 24/7 and the leafs immediately start growing roots within a week! I think the cold air in the house definitely helps them compared to outside. Once the leaf has bloomed a flower then slowly introduce it to outside weather. WATCH OUT 🐿️ WILL EAT THEM

    I haven't been able to successfully propagate 😢 i have one leaf ghat gree a baby, but i didnt even try i just foind it in my plants pot one day. I will keep trying tho lol

      I just leave the whole leaf laying on top of a pot. Water the soil before putting it on, put it on, *ignore it for a few weeks*
      I did it accidentally, years ago; now we have Kalanchoe coming out of our ears ❤😂

    lol I never lay them on a tray. I literally just stick the leaf in the ground and a few weeks later, it is growing. People fuss too much over succulent propagation!

      Not so easy if you're in an arid environment. Where I am the soil dries up extremely quickly in shallow pots, even in shade. I've tried the complete neglect method and it only results in shriveled, dead leaves and heartbreak.

    I have tried this method a lot of times but still my leaves are rotting or sometimes becoming mushy I also put it in only coco peat and I have also tried putting only in soil

      I leave them sat *on top* of watered soil (watered; not wet) in a shady/dappled light area of the garden (south east England), then totally ignore them
      Don't water it, don't spray it, don't cover it or put it in a cupboard etc - seriously, 95% of the problem people have with horticulture is people *do too much*
      Put them on some dirt, leave them outside, forget about them.

    What do I do with them after they sprout? I know I should put them in a pot but do I bury some of it or do I just place it on the top of that as well

      Yes, if you notice that some of the leaves have roots along with pups, you can bury the roots. 🌷🌱

      +1 i'd also love to know! I'm based in Singapore. It's humid here and ranges 28°c to 32°c daily. Plenty of sun. But my succulents keep failing to propagate even though i leave them alone, no watering. Blabla. Everyone makes it sound easy but it feels quite hard here!!!

      I think once a day is actually too much. Avoid watering them too much to make sure they don't rot! Just feel if the soil is moist and only when it isn't moist spray them a little

      The season does matter. Succulent leaves grow best between fall-early spring... Summer can rot/dry out the leaves without any reason.

      it says mist whenever it feels dry i wouldnt let it go completely bone dry

      And water only when you see pups and roots together coz when you water when only roots, there may be a possibility of no pups showing up.
      This is what I lately came to know. Thanks for the reply though.

      You can, I was bored so I tore off one of my huge jade plants leaves and stuck it in a random pot of soil I had laying around, it took root but took 4 months to actually show signs of growth. It mostly grew roots and just now is it starting to grow a little bud

    Never work for my jade, always died turns wrinkly , dark after a month no root nothing. I dont know how all these happene on RUclips only

      This method will not work on jade to propagate them you need to cut the healthy stem and put it in well drained soil.
