  • Beginning of 2019 I had damaged my ulnar nerve in my right arm leaving me with a numbness to the right hand. This injury has left my riding motorcycles to more of a joyless experience with rapid hand numbness from bar vibrations etc. On the market I had seen a product called Grip Puppies but always brushed them off as typical junk.
So in this video, I finally bought the product you can find on amazon for about 19.99, installed them on the bike (install video is not needed, its stupid simple) and took them for a ride, testing highway, city stop and go. Even got some light rain to see if this products is #1. Safe. #2. Does it work?

Back in the day fingers going numb or pins and needles was due to gripping the bar to tight. :)

I have them on my Z400, and already ordered a pair for my new Z900 even before I take delivery of the bike. If you suffer from trigger finger, or any other issues that will cramp your hands or make then go numb over a relatively short period of time, then you owe it to yourself to try these. On a side note, manufacturers should include better grips than they do, there is no excuse for the super hard grips they put on all bikes except for saving a few pennies.

amen.. never rode the z400 / rode the 400 remember the bar buzz in the higher band. Something with those kawi parrallel twins. that freq vibration does get ya. but definetly not the worse parrallel twin motor ever. The Yamaha inline 2 still def vib's in those higher rpm's but its a very different freq that doesn't cause the numb effect anywhere as quick. Out side playing with bar weights etc. really limited.

Just now ordered these also for z400.
Is the foam soft or more of a dense type harder type foam? I mean soft as you could pick it apart easily with your fingers?

They claim that the grip puppies don't soak up moister like a sponge and that they're water proof. Is this true? I'm sceptical because they're a foam, according to reviewers.

yeah def foam like rubber compound feeling type. never had that issue (and i live in Florida so they have been very rain tested lol). first time i hit rain i was terrified it would slip, etc. but no issues. still have the same set on that bike and about 5800 miles on them. Saying that i keep the bikes in the garage so not sure if you keep them outside how well they will hold up etc.

Have you tried bar weight inserts ...they aren't massive bar ends .
They are basically weights that slide into the bars.
I have a parallel twin , and recently did a bar swap for ergos ...
Damn thing increased my vibes .
Currently I tried pro grip gel 717 they improved but still numb me after a while .. just ordered a set of these grip puppies .. hopefully over the gels it will become a great solution.
If not the inserts are my next purchase.
    *Soap box *
(Fat bars don't improve vibs for everyone)

never messed with that outside replacing bar ends. ill have to check into that. it always tricky, really just adjusting from one freq to another and never know which will be better you know. that bar swap almost never makes things smoother unless we could find a way to install some sort of legit rubber isolator/dampener into the bar @ forks.. the grip puppies def dampen more then the grip gel's so hope that helps you. also depends on what kind of vibes people are trying to limit. mines more of a prolonged low level freq/buzz issue then a true vibration issue. have to let us know how it works out for you.

Are they worth it, did they make a real difference?

what I can say is this. for my nerve issue. YES! it increased the time period before my hand starts numbing over prolonged ranges by at least 60% if not more. Literally if I was highway cruising at a constant speed before my hand would start triggering in like 15 min. Now I'm closer to an hour before I'm shaking my throttle hand lol. so they have to be doing something. my clutch hand also feels less fatigued. It dampens it.! Doesn't full remove it.

@@Raptor-kc9vh no accessory will %100 but considering the price and the improvement it brings you i would say its a great buy. Thanks for the response, might look into foam inserts for my grips too
