Take care of ur axe, and it'll take care of u!!! Well done sir, ur the man!!!
Respect for those who know how to sharpen a tool by hand, as our grandfathers did.
Yes, but how do you purchase the correct stone?
Yep,.......that's sharp!!😲
I was going to axe you a question, but changed my mind. You covered it all pretty much..Thanks too..
I see what you did there. 🤣
Well done sir. That must have been a 3000 grit sharpie. No spit though, usually adds a couple hundred grit depending on your chew. I’m not a sharp man but I know what axe love is.
Thanks 👍
Great idea. What are you rubbing on it?
Natural bees wax
@@lucagrim2332 is there any unnatural "bees" wax? Wouldnt all wax made by bees be natural?
@@jq7323 there's artificial bees wax. "Assume someone knows something you don't"-jp
@@lucagrim2332 wax on the handle????
Best to use Boiled Linseed Oil.
Great idea using the Sharpie!
The Milwaukee markers especially the big fat one, is a level up from the regular sharpie. It will still mark the steel even when the axe or knife is wet or oily from stone sharpening!
What is everything you used?
Hello, Thank you for this Video.
After you've Sharpened the axe, What is it that your rubbing into the blade and then the handle?
I didn't actually see you rub anything into the area you sharpened.
What is the reason for doing this...
Should I be rubbing this product throughly over all the Metal of the axe.
ld appreciate your advice.
1 year later Joe consumer here. He's probably rubbing in something akin to beeswax is simply protects the wood protects the metal from rust mineral oil would probably work as well
what kind of axe and what brand and length should I get? Does weight matter? all around use and bushcraft is what I'm looking for.
I am a fan of Husqvarna as they are more affordable than something like Gransfors or Hults Bruks. A good basic forest axe would serve you well.
Thank you nice😊
Glad you liked it!
May I ask what type of wax you used?
yeah I wanna know also
Why do you mark it with the sharpie?
to make sure you didnt miss any spots during the sharpening process and if they missed anyy bits there would be sharpie.
gränsfors yxor är dom bästa.
jag har 3 😃👍
And which is the best allround?
Will this technique work with a rectangular sharpening stone?
Can you use any rock or does it have to be a special one?
Any rock that abrades the still will work. The lansky pucks make it easy
A file works great. A pretty edge doesn't last long
That's what i always say, it won't stay super sharp for long. If it's sharp enough, it's gonna last for a while
What kind of hatchet is this please? I'm in the market for one for camping/ Bushcrafting etc. Probably won't use it that much, but,,, what kind do you suggest without breaking my bank..lol. can I get a good one under $100 ?
For a high quality budget friendly choice, consider the Husqvarna line of hatchets and axes
Look on ebay for vintage stuff.
Looks like a Hultafors to me, maybe a HY10. Its about 70$ where I am
Looks to be a Gränsfors Bruk Small Forest Axe. More than $100 but not by much and well worth the price.
Cold Steel Trail Boss
What grit puck are you using?
Propably 150-300
Are you from USA
Is that Gränasfors puck or some other brand ?
I don’t know I’ve had it so long. I don’t even remember where I got it.
Depends what you are cutting.
Always keeping your axe that sharp only makes sense in my mind for the tiny carving axes. The sharper it is the less time it will take it to loose the edge.
that is exactly what this axed does...carving and small work. You have a very good point
@@NatureReliance Oh ok, I use the exact same axe for chopping down trees. Not very thick ones but I prefer to keep it sharp but not too sharp, then I have the smallest version only for woodcarving.
Absolute unit
I actually have to sharpen one of my smaller axes it has a in the metal I bought it that way but I've been using it that way never sharpened it, thanks for reminding me to get a food axe stone
What is that pen ?
Sharpie.
Spent last 30 minns still trying to sharping mine still blunt to I never used a marker
Same for me. Did you figure it out?
you need a very fine grit for the edge, and just sharpen a bit (1 mm wide) not the entire area that marked
@@xperimental1974I understand, you get a fine grit stone, you put it on an angle and move it in circles and *poof* like magic its razor sharp lol. 😅 thanks for the reply, it’s just a skill thing and I’m making beginner mistakes that I don’t even know I’m making. Thanks for the reply
good job
Best axe for my idea very handsome❤
Do you want a convex Edge on that ax cuz it's sharper it is the duller it's going to get faster being that Sharpe
Grammar left the chat
Koruma yağı nedir?
Does the same apply with tomahawks sir
Hi there, what are you using on the axe 🪓 ( balm)
enchant aex
sharpness v
I had no problem sharpening a completely dull knife to hair shaving, but I can't seem to get it with the axe heads
That's more honing it wouldn't you say as opposed to sharpening
My respect .
Is that just one bevel?
Bevels are like added weight curves that axe head doesn't have them
Question how do you get surface rust out of your axe?
Vinegar or sandpaper
I have seen Coca-Cola, molasses, and vinegar recently, the vinegar is the most effective, steel wool is gentle.
Damn that is sharp
Are their still 8 left? And what are they that there are 8 of?
It's not a sharp ax that splits well
It's actually a hatchet and his type of grind on his axe is supposed to fell trees and carve wood not splitting logs
It's not a dull axe that splits well
Is that the Akka?
Wouldn't have wasted a good target to show off my edge.
Now explain to us what grit you used.
Shorts don’t leave much time for explaining. Check out our Facebook group for more discussion. 😊
Is that the lansky puck?
Yes
you use a axe to chop wood, not cut paper, it's a different angle for cutting and splitting wood
Or you use an axe to cut wood as well a small axe like this won’t be used to split big stuff maybe only kindling and it’s definitely a cutter not a splitter
That's exactly my thought
I can't keep my Border Collie out of the trees either!! Good video as well
Is that the Lansky puck?
Es mejor con galletero anda mas rapido
Notable es piedra Norton y que número?
but be careful the Pucks take so much metal off at a small amount of time. if you dont watch it you can ruin your Grind
Don’t have an axe yet but it’s on its way from amazon
A real man does not buy an axe on Amazon...he takes it from the lifeless hands of his defeated enemy...or at least that's what I heard
@@bjohnston3659 dude..it’s a 200 dollar shiny wood splitting axe
@@Daddywithdasaucymac if I pay $200 for an axe, it better be able to start the coffee in the morning and help me work out my taxes!!
@@bjohnston3659 yeah really funny.
Wrong, find a local Smith and get one made from the steel of your choice and put a handmade handle on it which you made yourself and only then will you be worthy of the Axe God's Blessing
Умер от старости пока точил топор камнем.
Nice
I’m at here
been doing that for decades and decades

I sharpen myself daily with 100 grit so im pretty sharp.

What is he polishing that axe head with?
Nessmuk Head and Haft dressing.
wax from a bee's hive
Wouldn’t it just sink and get stuck in the wood?
МНЕ СОБАЧКУ ЖАЛЬ.
😂😂😂😂
no electric grinder then eh?
What kind of sharpening stone is this, please?
puck
👍👍👍

Человек не понимает принципов заточки. Ну или нас обмануть хочет.
Sounds like you may suffer from SPS.
Chuck
А такая заточка топору, извините, нахера?
Ну например обтёсывать брёвна.
только для столярки
Sharp axe can be used to chop branches into camp fire wood. Makes a nice clean slice, smooth cut, one chop is all it takes on a chopping block.
That axe would rip printer paper.
Bravo bravo maestro👈👌👌👌👌💯👋
Dammmm
Did he just wax the handle of an ax?
Good job my man.....
Not that shape it looks like
Real man would shave with that ax...lol
Real men don’t shave
@@NatureReliance Cancer treatments took the left side of my beard,I have to shave.
Чем ты его натер ? Воском чтоли ??
Good luck removing it from a plot
Маркер -очень хорошая вещь в контроле заточки режущей кромки, но я не верю что до такого состояния удалось заточить топор тем камнем.
A marker is a very good thing in controlling the sharpening of the cutting edge, but I do not believe that it was possible to sharpen the axe with that stone to such a state.
Translate by google
I cannot control what you believe or do not believe. What I can tell you, is that I used that stone to get that edge.
@@orcasarentwhales It is a sharpening puck specifically for axes
@@NatureReliance You do it perfectly👍
You certainly can get paper cutting sharp with that stone.
I've gotten knives hair shaving sharp off a file before, so you certainly can cut paper with 120/240 grit.
👍👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Huh 🤔
as sharp as an Axe.
I use an angel grinder haha takes 3 seconds
I was taught not to sharpen a axe like that for it only increases the chances of it getting stuck.
K
Being able to get the axe sharp is basic level stuff. Once you can do that it'd be wise to learn about edge geometry! Rounding sharp edges around the bit (not the edge) and convexing any flat spots will help to keep it from getting stuck

А, побрицца СЛАБО?!
The ending was creepy.
Gosh.
Huuuuuyyyyyyyyyyyyiiii hacha cuántos espalmes tiene
I prefer my axe a little duller. No one wants to have to sharpen their axe every couple of swings
Is this ment to be impressive
no, what gave you that idea?
its too sharp, axes are made for splitting as apposed to cutting, and a sharp axe is more dangerous to the user
good job
Thanks
was that a lansky puck?
Yes
