You are one of many people who inspired me to get this magnificent vehicle and to enjoy driving it, while understanding the feeling you have when you were trying to explain about the sensations of driving old cars. Hope for the best that you take care of Emo. -God Bless

I love my '94. I've had a bunch of great cars that I've enjoyed but none that I love like my Jeep. I did buy a CJ front clip that's sitting in my garage that I'll put on eventually, it's on the long list of improvements and upgrades. And yes, I do feel a bit disloyal about my plan but there's something about CJ round headlights, the taller grill and the flat dash that I love, too. I'm on the hunt for a second Jeep, a '95 Sahara with reasonable mileage, a 4.0l and a 5 speed which I'll keep stock.
Don’t feel guilty. It’s your Jeep and you get to make it your own. That’s one of the reasons Jeeps are so great is we get to customize them! Hope you find that Sahara. It’s a jewel.
I love my 1994 jeep Yj thank you for having mine in your video. That was a nice little surprise. The green bastard. Thank you also for putting him in your video.!!!!!
Doing a full restoration on my 95 Rio grande edition. Definitely a labor of love. Dug it out of a barn in the back of a wooded property. Come a long way
I almost got emotional watching this. My first car was a 93 YJ. My parents got it for me in '96, and was my daily for the next 5 years from college to my first "real" job. As the issues rose, lack of time, money, and know-how to keep it going, I eventually traded it in. And for over 20 years, I've regretted not keeping it. Thanks for this, and great channel!
This is spot on. Hard to reproduce the YJ feeling in a TJ and newer. Cannot explain it, but you explained it well! You are outside more, I will say that. Outside, and sitting further back over the rear axle. Half doors help big time, too.

I have to agree with you, this Jeep is something special, no one understands why I love my YJ (it is falling apart)😂, but I’m working on it and your videos will help. Thanks for the time.
Great video, reminded me of a documentary. My wife and I have 4 Jeeps. 2 JLUs, 1 JK and a YJ. JLU's are our daily drivers (2021 Sahara and 2024 Rubicon). We love the classic simplicity of the YJ and it is the source of all our fun little projects to make it our own. Today she is getting a new top and a deep cleaning. Our JK is a 2-door and gets towed behind our RV. It too is a fun Jeep to drive and play with.
I got my yj,s ten years back ,a 4.0 and a 2.5 love them to bits. people ask why i drive them and i say because i get more joy from a thirty year old jeep than a soulless of the peg car. Best thing i think to make you smile and feel alive. Thanks for the vid.
I totally agree with you. I started my Jeep YJ journey two years ago with the purchase of a 1994 Jeep YJ for $650. Needless to say, it was in horrible condition with massive holes in the floor, completely rusted through rockers, completely worn out suspension, crumbled body mounts and too many other things to be named. But there was something about it that I felt was worth saving. With blood, sweat, tears and money, I’ve been able to get her back to her former glory. It’s been fun learning how to weld, trouble shoot and conquer all of the challenges she’s thrown at me. I wouldn’t change a thing.
Dude that’s amazing!!! I absolutely love it. Most people would see that as too far gone! I’ve learned a lot working on my first one, kind of scared and excited to see what I’ll have to learn on this one! Keep it up man!
I rarely comment on videos, but I had to on yours. This was AWESOME! I love the YJ, always have, I like the unique look of the "square eyes". I currently own the YJ my dad bought new in 91, and I went with him to the dealership to pick it up and drive the 100 miles home in it. As a teen, I chose to ride in this gutless wonder over the fox body Mustang my mom was driving. This video has inspired me to make a little different video of my baby, my love, my toy. Thank you, and continue to save the squares!
That's awesome! I'm really glad to hear it. Its funny too cause I had a fox boby mustang in the 90’s. 😂 though I don't have the fondness for that, that I do the YJ. Can't wait to see your video. Tag me when you post it. I'd love to check it out.

aww man, this makes me emotional dude! I have a 1994 Jeep YJ 2.5 automatic as my daily driver, and Ive had her for about a year. In fact tommorow will be my jeeps 1 year anniversary of when I got her. Unfortunately with more issues going on, such as the windshild wipers and low beams not working except for high beams, I just cant afford to spend more money on maintaining her as much as I can. I had to cancel my Jurassic park build because of expenses for fixing other issues. I love my jeep, I managed to learn alot while owning her, changing the starter, fixing the horn, checking my oil, trying to fix the dimmer switch, as well as the general maintenance. Her engine powered by those four angry squirrels is still strong! but being a college student, and not being as mechnically inclined, its not easy. I was hesitant at first, but now Ive decided to agree with my dad on getting a new jeep possibly a two door JL. still the fact that I will have to sell her hurts, cause Ive had alot of great memories, met alot of great people/jeepers and she truely gave me smiles per gallons. she actually saved me on gas! I only spend 40 dollars on gas and she gives me a whole week and a half, and thats 6 days out of the 7 day week that I drive sometimes! I wished she was my secondary vehicle because maybe just maybe I would be able to keep her as a secondary project/weekender and truely learn how to work on her more. This video is really making me second guess on selling her! I love my squares! beautiful rig! and cant wait to see what you will work on in the future for Emo!
Oh man. That’s so hard. I totally get it. Fixing the wipers is pretty easy. I did that without much issue and it was pretty cheep to get the new motor. But I hear you. I’m not much of a mechanic either.
My DD is a "95 with a 2.5, love it. They aren't quite the black sheep they used to be like back in the day, far from it. They're getting the respect they deserve finally can't wait to see what you do with this one.
I purchased my '87 YJ a few months ago and it puts a huge smile on my face every time i drive it...or even look at it! Glad to have found your page! Save the squares!
Finally someone else has caught on to this amazing addiction. Im on yj#8 now flipped my first one when i was 16 with a sketchy lift and have been hooked ever since
I just picked up a 93 YJ with a 4.0 and 5 speed manual. First order of business, get it to pass emissions. Looking forward to having a lot of fun with this little rig! I'm enjoying your channel, keep it up!
Beautiful letter to the YJ’s. I have my original 1987 Jeep Laredo I bought from the dealer It was built in Canada under AMC For me it’s priceless and indeed is a labor of love. Now 36 years old is better than new running a 4.6 stroker by Golen, new AX15 trans and new Howell EFI that I’m presently working on Thanks Matt
Recently bought a YJ this summer and it makes me smile every time I drive it and even while I’m working on it. Best of the Jeeps. Can’t wait for more on this one
Bought a YJ myself back when the pandemic started. I LOVE IT!!! It is my little project jeep that I'm constantly trying to make better. I started a channel too, vlogging what I do to it throughout time. Mine is an '87 with a carb engine. I don't find too many videos on those so I figured I'd start my channel so there are some videos dealing with that engine type here on RUclips. Take Care and God Bless.
Love it my first Wrangler was a 88 back in 1993, I was 17. I have had many jeeps since but am currently looking to put my first love back in my life. Not not easy to find any that is not overly modded or rusted so badly it will not cast a shadow.
We've owned our '93 since it was initially a lease return at a local Jeep dealership, and it's been a permanent member of our family ever since. Countless memories... and you're exactly right, it's very difficult to put into words how it feels to drive. The only words I can muster is that it "feels like home". I never imagined (back then) that it would now be considered a classic Jeep and we'd be custodians of a piece of important Jeep history. Keep up the great work with the channel.
Wold love to see you bring the YJ to the 2023 Myrtle Beach Jeep Jam. I am going to have mine there after 3 years of building and I am trying to get as many YJs there as I can this year.
I can't wait to check out the rest of your videos. I just picked up an 88 YJ with the 4.2 inline 6. It needs a decent amount of work (including locating the out of state title.... yikes), but it's awesome, and I can't wait to make it my own.
Great love affair!! I own a 91 4.0 with a 5 speed and just picked up a 94 with only 28k original miles!! Looks like it just came off the showroom!! Love the YJs!! I feel the way you do!! Keep em rollin’!! Got an 05 and installed a gr8tops hardtop on it!! Put troop seat in and it is the best money I ever spent on a vehicle…….so much more practical and looks awesome!!
Love my 89 YJ she beats me up and i just keep trying to see how far she will go! And where she will go! Cant wait to see what you do with the new one. Stay safe and happy trails 👣
Well I see you got another 4 banger , yeah make it yours . Like the black ! I have a pile of parts for Levi but with Christmas no time to work on it. I will have it ready for the summer.
Great video! I picked up my 95' YJ last summer to learn manual transmission on. Going to hang onto it and restore it. I hope to help keep some great Jeep history alive.
@@SimplyMustGo I love your JP jeep and have wanted one myself ever since I saw the movie in 93'. I'm also restoring a Grand Wagoneer. (SJ) Starting at the 1:38 mark of your video, you absolutely nailed that feeling of what it means to drive a YJ today. Well said!
There are very few people that I love watching and listening to their stories. To you and your Yj’s, thank you. To projectDan and his grand Cherokees. I appreciate you now we just need somebody to talk about TJ’s with passionate love.
I totally get it. I love Blue, it's an awesome truck, but the way you feel about the YJ is how I feel about the 3v mustang. I wouldn't trade my 05 for anything. I've also been looking at maybe a Scrambler or Golden Eagle for my next Jeep. I'm going to need something once my kids take my cars. Can't wait to see how it turns out!
Yesssirrrrr. I love love love my yj thanks to you man. I will never get rid of it and will do whatever I need to keep it on the road. Like you said there’s just something about them. And you cannot deny the capabilities of them when you know how to drive off road. Hope to see you around soon….. square Jeep reunion soon?
Blue 93 YJ, 2.5L as my daily driver. I look forward to the content! Please be willing to show as much of the troubleshooting/restoration as you can. I hope to learn a lot from your build.
94 YJ here (2018 JLU is our trail Jeep/Daily too).... so I get it... the YJ is the Red Headed Step child of the Jeep Community... but it does stand out.
Great episode. I started my "Jeep Life" with a '85 CJ-7 I bought new when I lived in San Diego. A couple years later Jeep introduced the YJ and I thought, What? Square headlights? I just didn't like it because of that. Since then I've owned a '98 TJ, '95 XJ and 3 Grand Cherokees. Now my "daily" is a '08 JK Sahara and guess what I've Loved the All. I also now have a respect for the YJ. That's because they're All JEEPS and in my world, that's enough for me. If I see someone in a YJ I do the "Jeep Wave" like I do for any other Jeep and I'll tell the owner, Hey, Cool Squares!! Now back home in Tennessee it come down to "It's A Jeep Thing". Thanks for reminding us of all that. As always, "Keep on Jeepin"...
Very cool!!! I’m an old CJ guy and I struggled a little with my first YJ: I’m old enough to remember when the Yuppie Jeep came out and the uproar that came with it. But I had to remember that other than the grill and hood, the CJ guys had been swapping YJ tubs, frames, springs and the 4.0 engine for decades!! We’ve had two of them, still have a black 94 on 33’s with the 2.5 liters of angry squirrels and 4.88 gears. It’s a good reliable daily driver and reasonably fuel efficient and really turns heads!! Jeep wave!👋
I have a TJ 4.0 2001 and had 2 YJ's 2 CJ'5s and 3 XJ's before this one. My favorite Jeep will always be the YJ, but good ones are hard to get over here in the Netherlands.
Wow that’s a ton of great Jeep! But I agree. Something about the YJ stands apart. Hope you can find a nice one at some point. I would love to visit the Netherlands. It’s on my bucket list.
I just discovered this channel and I too a couple of months ago decided that (someday soon) I will purchase a 92 YJ to make a replica of the Jurassic Park jeep! So glad someone else had the same idea, and loved this video!
And you do feel driving it, in your bone. I must agree with you. I have a 95 YJ and a 05 TJ. The TJ is so comfortable to drive, relaxed and easy. The YJ requires me to drive it, listen to it, adjust it, and yet I prefer to drive it.
Love my YJ bought it 10 years ago 91. Fixed her up and was my daily driver. Still trailing and she needs a make over not to bad though. Love my Hopper...
Love it! I have a black 95 YJ 4.0 auto, hard top w/ factory AC. I also had a 01 TJ for a couple months at the same time as my YJ but sold it and kept the YJ. Just something about the YJ that I can’t let go…
I have a 2003 TJ on the verge of death that's my daily driver. The frame is rotted on the passenger side and every mechanic/body repair shop has told me it's not worth repairing - that I should get something new and let it go. This is the first video I've seen that really feels like I'm understood. This vehicle is the first thing I've ever owned, it's something that I've spent countless hours in the garage with and learned everything about. The thought of giving up on it is heartbreaking and the last thing I want to do. Thank you for this. It really means a lot.
I’m so glad you found it and yes! I get it! Keep it if you can. Could you get something else and keep it and fix it up over time since it wouldn’t be your daily anymore?
@@SimplyMustGo I’m definitely keeping it. Lol it’s just one of those things where “ignorance is bliss”. I wouldn’t have known all the issues but because I took it to a mechanic and have been given an inspection report…I’m terrified lol. But nothing is ever too far gone. Just got to deal with the cards that’s been dealt.
@@MyEncore2323 for sure. Just take it one project at a time. That’s what I’m doing with it. Start small and work up is that I’m doing. I’m still learning how to be my own mechanic.
If you have the room, swapping the frame isn't as hard or scary as it sounds. At the end of the day, it's all just nuts and bolts. Plus I can't think of another vehicle with the support network that Jeeps have. So many forums and clubs and knowledgable people that will happily and excitedly help you along the way.
Had my 91 for about 22 years. Bought it from a guy in my Jeep Club, the original owner, as it was better setup than my '89 (plus efi vs carter carb!). This was in California, 6 months later we moved back to the UK so i sold the 89 and shipped the 91 here. It's been wheeled in the US, Mexico, England and Wales. Not many can claim that. On it's third engine as the original block cracked during shipping, the XJ engine replacement wore out it's cylinders (went oval shaped) and it's currently using a TJ engine.
@@SimplyMustGo Also on my driveway is an 83 Cherk. Only one still remaining on the UK, afaik. The 'one day' car. As in one day i'll win the lotto and be able to afford the bodywork repairs #Rustbucket
Always a soft spot for your 1st. I built a 4cyl and sold it to move west. Then found out I was a toyota thinker all along. But damn I miss seat time in a YJ.
I love your videos i all need to the swap to lock my axle on my yj. I switched carburetors which took away a good bit of my vacuum lines, so im sure you can see my issue minusthe fact i can't find the part in stock lol
Everybody hated the yj yet in a lot of ways it was still better than a cj, had my 87/94 mashup since 2014, made many improvements which include 4.8 vortech motor, it's totally an obsession,I daily it in the summer and park it in the winter(salty winters are no good),cool video 🤘

@@Jeepdriver75 I’m in the Columbia area of SC. But we head up to North Georgia for a lot of our camping trips.
I purchased my '87 YJ a few months ago and it puts a huge smile on my face every time i drive it...or even look at it! Glad to have found your page! Save the squares!
That’s awesome. I feel the same way! Glad to have you here!
Finally someone else has caught on to this amazing addiction. Im on yj#8 now flipped my first one when i was 16 with a sketchy lift and have been hooked ever since
Thank you! That’s awesome that you’ve had 8 of them. What would you say your favorite upgrade has been?
I just picked up a 93 YJ with a 4.0 and 5 speed manual. First order of business, get it to pass emissions. Looking forward to having a lot of fun with this little rig! I'm enjoying your channel, keep it up!
I love it!! And thank you!
Its so clean
I’ve had 3 YJ’s over the years and regret selling each one. There is something so special about the random squeaks and pops.
#savethesquares
Yeah there is just something about them. For all their “flaws” they are perfect.
Thanks. I drove the old 89’ YJ this weekend, it was great.
That's awesome! There is just something rejuvenating about driving them around.
Beautiful letter to the YJ’s. I have my original 1987 Jeep Laredo I bought from the dealer
It was built in Canada under AMC
For me it’s priceless and indeed is a labor of love. Now 36 years old is better than new running a 4.6 stroker by Golen, new AX15 trans and new Howell EFI that I’m presently working on
Thanks Matt
That’s awesome!! I love it!
great speech about the YJ, as a owner of one is nice to see fresh content about it
Thank you so much! 🙏🏻
Recently bought a YJ this summer and it makes me smile every time I drive it and even while I’m working on it. Best of the Jeeps. Can’t wait for more on this one
Thank you! Totally just something about them.
That’s awesome! I’ll check it out! I appreciate you stopping buy and leaving the info! God bless!
Looking forward to Project Emo. Your video makes me appreciate my 95 Rio Grande that I picked up this summer even more!
Oh man! Thank you! I bet you love that Rio Grande. Nice work getting one!
Right on man! Super excited to see more of this Jeep and your videos!
Thank you! Yeah I’m super excited to see where she goes!
Love it my first Wrangler was a 88 back in 1993, I was 17. I have had many jeeps since but am currently looking to put my first love back in my life. Not not easy to find any that is not overly modded or rusted so badly it will not cast a shadow.
Yeah. Getting so much harder to find good ones. I hope you find it!
Thank you so much!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Awesome video !! I have a red 93 jeep yj love driving that thing
Yeah! My 92 was red (at first) which is one reason I wanted the Red JKU, I missed having a red jeep. But I like this new black one too.
Wold love to see you bring the YJ to the 2023 Myrtle Beach Jeep Jam. I am going to have mine there after 3 years of building and I am trying to get as many YJs there as I can this year.
I would love to bring it there this year too!!
I love my ‘88 YJ and like every Jeep, it always needs tinkering and love...but that’s a Jeep. Through and through.
1994 YJ owner!
Love it!
Nice! Thanks for watching!
I can't wait to check out the rest of your videos. I just picked up an 88 YJ with the 4.2 inline 6. It needs a decent amount of work (including locating the out of state title.... yikes), but it's awesome, and I can't wait to make it my own.
That's awesome! I can't wait to see what you do with it!
That’s awesome! It sounds amazing! I love Gr8Tops!
Love my 89 YJ she beats me up and i just keep trying to see how far she will go! And where she will go! Cant wait to see what you do with the new one. Stay safe and happy trails 👣
Thank you! Yeah. I’m excited to see where she goes too!
Well I see you got another 4 banger , yeah make it yours . Like the black ! I have a pile of parts for Levi but with Christmas no time to work on it. I will have it ready for the summer.
Yeah I have a pile of parts too. Just need time to put them all on. And hopefully in the right place.
You’ll have to take my yj keys out of my cold dead hands before I give her away lol. Thanks for inspiring me to get back on making her a beauty again.
You’re welcome!!
Great video! I picked up my 95' YJ last summer to learn manual transmission on. Going to hang onto it and restore it. I hope to help keep some great Jeep history alive.
That's awesome!!!!! I'm sorry glad you're going to fix it up and restore it!!!
Well said!
@@ajfox96 thanks man!!!
There are very few people that I love watching and listening to their stories. To you and your Yj’s, thank you. To projectDan and his grand Cherokees. I appreciate you now we just need somebody to talk about TJ’s with passionate love.
Thank you so much!!! I really appreciate that. Maybe one day I’ll get a TJ too. 😀
I have a soft spot for mustangs too. My first two cars were mustangs. A 90 convertible and a 98 coupe. Love them both.
Man, wouldn’t that be something to put together a big YJ meet up…🤔
Awesome video! I've owned the same YJ since 01. It's starting to get new parts and a mild build. Looking forward to more content.
Thank you! 🙏🏻
I have a 95 and I got it used in 98 at that time i did not understand that jeeps are a club. Its a 4 banger and very fun great vid thank you
Thank you!🙏🏻
Blue 93 YJ, 2.5L as my daily driver. I look forward to the content! Please be willing to show as much of the troubleshooting/restoration as you can. I hope to learn a lot from your build.
I’ll do my best! Thanks! Hope some of its helpful.
Can't believe you got another Jeep!!!! Great job with Storytelling on this one. Looking forward to seeing the work you do on it.
Thanks, yeah I can’t really believe I got another one either, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity on this one.
I watched this 2 weeks ago and just purchased a beautiful 93 wrangler today!!
That’s awesome!!!!!
94 YJ here (2018 JLU is our trail Jeep/Daily too).... so I get it... the YJ is the Red Headed Step child of the Jeep Community... but it does stand out.
It does! But it’s also so much fun to drive.
Thank you so much!!! Man you’ve had some awesome Jeeps! ✌🏻
As a former YJ owner, now restoring a CJ, I most assuredly approve!!!
That's awesome. I'd love to get a CJ at some point and fully restore it too. Thanks!
Jeep wave!👋
That’s awesome! Thanks! I’d love to get my hands on a CJ one day.
@@SimplyMustGo Well, that's good to know because visiting the US is on our bucket list. Your welcome by the way, should you guys decide to visit 👍
I feel you, I miss my YJ, it was such a fun Jeep to drive, wish I had not sold it
right on man! you should put some round headlights in to throw everyone off! haha.
Hahaha. Or.. and here me out. One giant square headlight instead of the grill….
@@SimplyMustGo hahah! nice!
YJ
For Life!
I just discovered this channel and I too a couple of months ago decided that (someday soon) I will purchase a 92 YJ to make a replica of the Jurassic Park jeep! So glad someone else had the same idea, and loved this video!
Thank you!!
And you do feel driving it, in your bone. I must agree with you. I have a 95 YJ and a 05 TJ. The TJ is so comfortable to drive, relaxed and easy. The YJ requires me to drive it, listen to it, adjust it, and yet I prefer to drive it.
My first Jeep is a 93. I’m currently doing restoration and upgrades. So much fun to drive and work on. I’ll never sell it.
Yeah. Something about them you just don’t want to give them up.
Just bought a 90 YJ last night. Subbed!! Can’t wait to start making content with it
That's awesome! I'm so excited! When you post something - especially on Instagram tag me so I can see it.
@@SimplyMustGo it’ll be on here as well.
Great video! I love my YJ!
Thank You.....
Love my YJ bought it 10 years ago 91. Fixed her up and was my daily driver. Still trailing and she needs a make over not to bad though. Love my Hopper...
That’s awesome!
What a great video of the YJ
Thank you!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
So true that is the way i feel about my yj!
👉❤️🤞 cool video brother!!!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for the inspiration. My wife dropped her new to her YJ into my project list. Sigh
Hey, you wrench it, you drive it. 🤣
Love it! I have a black 95 YJ 4.0 auto, hard top w/ factory AC. I also had a 01 TJ for a couple months at the same time as my YJ but sold it and kept the YJ. Just something about the YJ that I can’t let go…
100% man! Just something you can’t articulate, but you feel in your soul.
It's hip to be square! Great little video, love the passion.
Thank you!🙏🏻
I have a 2003 TJ on the verge of death that's my daily driver.
@@SimplyMustGo lol yeah it’s awesome to see.. Can’t wait to see more of this project.
Looking forward to watching the process
Thanks! I’m looking forward to discovering what she’ll become.
That’s awesome! Glad you’re keeping it alive!!!
@@SimplyMustGo Also on my driveway is an 83 Cherk. Only one still remaining on the UK, afaik.
The 'one day' car. As in one day i'll win the lotto and be able to afford the bodywork repairs #Rustbucket
I'm a YJ FAN!
Hello from Maine
Hey!!! Glad to have you here!
Can’t wait to see what you do with this build. Save the squares!
Thanks Gari!
Heck yeah, Im a YJ till I die kinda guy too. Now lets see a crawler or a mild build. Bring it to me Ill build it haha
Don’t tempt me. One day I’ll just ring your door bell and be like… here.
Really enjoyed your video I have a 94 with 32 Mickey Thompson's with bill Stein shocks the only thing I regret having is this little 4 cylinder.
That’s awesome. One day I’d love to do an LS swap in mine.
Always a soft spot for your 1st. I built a 4cyl and sold it to move west. Then found out I was a toyota thinker all along. But damn I miss seat time in a YJ.
It’s true there is something about them.
Very well said, very nice.👍
Thank you!
Yj love
Thank you!!!
Just got my first car a 95 jeep yj so excited to go in adventures with my new jeep 😁
Love it!!
I love your videos i all need to the swap to lock my axle on my yj. I switched carburetors which took away a good bit of my vacuum lines, so im sure you can see my issue minusthe fact i can't find the part in stock lol
I agree I love my 90 yj also have a 2015 jk 2 door sport yj is my best one
Yeah. Just has a different vibe that you can’t beat.
what a fun project! Can't wait to see what you do with it!
Thanks! I’m excited to see what she becomes.
Love my YJ...
There’s something special about them.
Awesome
Thank you!
Awesome! Love it!
Thank you! Glad you made it!
Thank you! How do you like that 4.8?
@@SimplyMustGo it's waaaay better then the 4.0,and I did like the 4.0 but once you load it down for camping it struggled
Currently In production on making a video about why I hate my JK when compared to Bonita (my YJ) this was great!
Thank you! Yeah there is just something about the YJs!
