Nice. My husband says he gave an interesting interview in Yiddish years ago. Great guy.
I enjoyed this episode. AMAZING!
You’re amazing. Thank you 💛
Great interview !
AMAZING…. I am a born again Christian, born in El Salvador, but grew up in California. I am a friend of Israel, I met an Israeli guy in El Salvador at the post office in Santa Ana, the city were I was born. The gov & people of Israel had always helped countries in Central America. Anyhow I enjoy this episode with Rab Goldstein. Very impressive to hear him speak Yiddish, at his early age of 17- not sure how easy was to learn such dialect. But God made a way and knew his heart. Thanks so much Saludos desde Long Beach California. AM YISRAEL JAI =El Pueblo de Israel Vive. . . Amen

Almost every genetic test results Ive seen of Puerto Ricans has at least some Sephardic and Ashkenazi Jewish. They fled from the Spanish Inquisition to Puerto Rico hundreds of years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if he also has some Jewish ancestors.
Such a moving story...
I'm also Puerto Rican and considering converting to Judaism. Thanks for posting this video!
Absolutely amazing
As someone who has worked surrounded by people with different accents. I can easily tell he has a Spanish accent.😊

@The_Wallachian how you say Hallelujah and say islam is only way to GOD? Hallelujah means; "PRAISE JAH"! What an incredible Interview. I met a guy from Brazil. He was interested in Judaism. I hooked him up with Rabbi Goldstein and hes now converted, married and lives in Jerusalem. I feel honored for being a part of that persons journey considering that I am a regular hasidic guy living in NY. What a blessing.
Hi Henry, I recently found out that my maternal grandmother (an orphan) was a mizrahi jew. It’s been two generations where my maternal family was forced to convert to Christianity before moving to South America. Is there any chance you could share Rabbi Goldstein’s contact information please?
Thank you for this interview! I too am a Yid by choice and I am involved with Chabad. I was told very so long by many when they heard i wanted to convert “are you insane?!” Thank you Hashem for all your blessings in my life!
We hope that soon you will be under the chuppah (wedding canopy).
By the way, I hear Reform Jews using the term Jews by Choice but I never heard it in Orthodox circles. Is it commonly used in Chabad?

Hi there 😊 it’s my understanding that in Puerto Rico “there are more “Jewish peoples and communities thriving and living in Puerto Rico than in all the Caribbean countries since 1500s when they traveled from Europe on boats or vessels that traveled to the Islands of Puerto Rico… there are immigration waves of Jewish peoples who immigrated to Puerto Rico “ (Wikipedia, 2024).

I have seen many converts (men & women) always say that in Judaism they feel "at home" and they don't speak badly about their past (faith, religion or way of life). Unlike people who convert to other religions, they tell how bad it was in their old life.
This is an important difference, that indicates the character of Judaism

@@chatisawasteoftime I have not seen it used that way. In my limited experience it normally a title earned and thus given to a select few who have proven the necessary attributes and abilities and have mastered enough learning of Judaism to be entrusted by other Rabbis to both lead Jewish religious communities and to pass on and teach the Torah.

Watching from Puerto Rico, wow!!
Puerto Ricans are 20% on average have jewish ancestry
I found that out only this year, but discovered my jewish ancestry after taking a DNA test 4 years ago.
Yup I'm Puerto Rican on both sides and have Ashkenazi, Sephardi, and Levant ancestry. There were always jokes growing up accusing someone of in the fam of being Jewish...lol Of course it was bigotry but probably came from a time when so many had to hide their faith from Catholic tyranny.
It's very common to hear that part or all of the family is Jewiah. Especially in the mountains.
I would really appreciate a historical background of how that came out to happen. Just for cultural improvement.
@@cynthiableiberg1184 i will try. Coupled with the Spanish Inquisition, Queen Isabel expelled the Jews (c.1492). As a result, many Jews stayed but passed as gentiles. Search for the term "marranos" (for pig, an insult) and you will find out all u need to know. Some jews took their religion underground, but most lost it over time. Best i can tell, when trade routes to América opened up, with economic opportunity, a bunch of Spaniards and marginalized subjects of the Crown took off. En route to this voyage or as a wayward station, many lived for a while or stopped in Islas Canarias off the cost of Spain. They left for Cuba, PR, Venezuela, etc. I read somewhere that Jewish DNA is more common among males in Puerto Rico. This makes sense because for the most part, the perilous journey was made by single men. Once in the Caribbean, they would marry (or rape) indigineous and black women, both freed and slaved. Indigenous are called Tainos (Arawak). Back then, and still to this day, inter racial marriages are more prevalent than in the U.S. Quick note. To my knowledge miscegenation (racially mixed marriage) never had to be litigated to be pronounced an acceptable practice in the Spanish colonies.
This man energy is such a sweetheart. Made me smile listening to him. He seems like type of person to give the most warm hugs
I just chanced on this video by accident, and couldn’t stop watching it, Rabbi Avrohom is a charismatic, passionate about Yiddishkeit, and genuinely keen to spread his love oh Yiddishkeit and Torah, he has inspired me greatly along with your podcast
Many thanks
It was absolutely wonderful. Thank you to the host and the guest to this Kiddush Hashem and big chizuk !
Amazing! Know him personally, great guy!
I think a more accurate title would be "the jewish boy who found himself in latin america". It's not so often but there are marrano jews in this place, im son of marranos and the reason I wake up im pretty sure is because both my paternal and maternal lines are sephardic, you need both for the spark to activate, father line alone or mother line alone will not trigger the spark. And there is a manuscript that tells that when all the bnei Anussim return to Israel, the messiah will come.
I am evangelical Christian and this is so inspiring not only to believe in the Bible but to practice It.
R' Avrohom is my childhood hero growing up in Pupa camp every summer, besides being an expert violinist (and taught me violin) his clarity and warmth is just so welcoming & inspiring, definitely one step closer to bring klal Yisroel together
Welcome to the family

A number of years ago, Temple Beth Shalom in San Juan, Puerto Rico published a cookbook, What's Cooking/Que se cocina en Puerto Rico. Their website posted a recipe for Mojo Isleño Red Snapper (it's no longer there). I made it and was delicious.
I bet Avraham Goldstein would love it.

Why does the thumbnail say “Then Puerto Rican Now Hasidic Jew”? He’s still Puerto Rican! Now he’s a Chasidic Puerto Rican!
Click bait
Also it's just pointing out the switch in nationality. He was a Puerto Rican citizen, now I'm assuming he's an American citizen.. idk
@@anonymousYC Puerto Ricans are American citizens.
@@Gabriel5583 yeah but I think that's what he meant.. idk
yes probably. I’m sure there is no ill intent. Being a Puerto Rican and convert to orthodox Judaism myself I didn’t feel the need to adapt other peoples culture. Instead I added Torah and mitzvoth to my culture.
The Jewish people emigrated to Sepharad Spain 586BC after the destruction of the first temple.
They were expelled from Spain in 1492, some were forced to convert to Roman catholism and practiced secretly their religion and were called “marranos”
The Jews in Spain castellanized and codified their last names one example is the Spanish surname of Nunez or Nuñez in Spain the surnames that end in EZ means son of, the Bible describes Joshua as the son of Nun son Nunez or Nuñez came from Nun they simply added the EZ.
Another example Melendez son of the king in Hebrew king is Melech, there are many others Spanish surnames that we can relate to Israel.
Most of the Spanish people in Spain and Latin America have Jewish in their dna, my self have Sephardic Jew I did my dna.
The best convert video I have been blessed to see in all the years after I left Christianity. B"H!! AM YISRAEL CHAI!!!
This is wonderful, so happy for him, but just FYI Puerto Rico has Jews, who aren’t converts too, maybe just not in his area. I say this, So that when you see a Jew who’s from Puerto Rico, don’t assume them to be converts, have manners and please always ASK*. תזכו למצוות. 👍
Very impressive. Very articulate. Interesting that he studied at Ner Israel, among others
