Nice Crabs! I’ve caught some 8+” crabs, but never close to 9”. I see that instead of using a float, you tie your pot at the shoreline and then set it in deeper water. Do you do that to keep your pots from being raided or stolen? It’s actually a good idea.

Hey there Bernie, thanks for checking out the new video. There were some large crabs around for a little while. As to the question, I can neither confirm nor deny any such method(lol), but I’d assume it would be a really effective way to keep the crabs and the pots safe while leaving them on the rather lawless waterways.
Happy crabbing! Appreciate you watching my friend. Ps… always sink the lines… I’d recommend 5/16” Kufa brand lead line.

@@How_I_Caught_Crabs hahaha…I understand! I’m not interested in pots because of the very reason I mentioned. We’ve communicated before a couple times…one being your effort in peace river. I made 20 hoop traps that I plan to use (crab boat still not finished). Crabbing here in sw Florida is definitely different than my old crabbing grounds near Kent Narrows a long time ago with trot lines. Keep up the good work…go O’s!
