Saint Olga of Kiev, a formidable 10th-century figure, is known for her ruthless vengeance after her husband Igor's murder by the Derevlian tribe. As regent for her son, she orchestrated a series of brutal retaliations, including burying emissaries alive and burning warriors. Ultimately, she laid siege to the Derevlians, using birds to set their city ablaze. Despite her violent past, she converted to Christianity and was canonized in 1547, embodying a complex legacy of piety and defiance.
