- Throughout 2017 and early 2018, three white women called police dozens of times, making increasingly serious allegations against Marc Peeples, a black man.
Peeples was building a community garden on the vacant Hunt Playground on Colton Street adjacent to the State Fairgrounds. One of the women, Deborah Nash, lives across the street from the park, while the others live nearby.
Peeples said the women didn't like his project, so they began calling the police, fabricating serious charges when police wouldn't come out for illegal gardening allegations. Those culminated with allegations that Peeples was a pedophile, was in the park threatening Nash with a gun, and participated in a drive-by shooting.
Eventually, the Detroit Police Department and Wayne County Prosecutors Office filed and brought three counts of stalking against Peeples.
However, he and attorney Robert Burton-Harris said most of the allegations were false, and characterized Peeple's crime as "gardening while black."
36th District Court Judge E. Lynise Bryant agreed. She tossed the case on Tuesday, calling it "troubling" and "ridiculous."

While I do definitely want to see that don't think of it as an automatic indicator of fair treatment. Don King screwed over every fighter he ever fronted taking advantage of the perception that being black meant he'd be looking out for their interests rather than just his own. Some judges only get ahead by blatantly playing politics, including racial politics that spit in the face of what the court is supposed to represent.

I'm a white woman and I am so glad that his case was thrown out and now he's suing. If people still want to act ignorant in this day and age then maybe they'll learn when it hits them where it hurts most..in their pocketbooks. I've watched many of these shows and have just shook my head and not responded but damn, I just have to speak up because some white people are really bigoted as*#&les and it's a dam shame that in this day and age it's still like that. Roulette Rider Well suing can only work when a person is 100% NOT GUILTY. If there is ANY truth at all to the accusations - even just a little.... the lawsuit for defamation or wrongful accusation wouldn't work. One probably wouldn't be able to sue EVERY TIME the police are called on them.
