    I love visual novels! I read some comments, and while I agree that the 3D ones often have this weird uncanny valley look, it's worth checking some of them out.
    I can think of Shards of the Past (for those who love fantasy and slow burn romance with nice writing) and my new favorite, Strangers on Paper (romance, with writing and dialogue that feel real and a nice atmosphere) both on steam but Strangers release is on February. I feel the characters in these look good and feel lifelike.
    Thanks for the video and the recommendations!

      I think a lot of gamers, myself included, dislike how much alike most VNs look. I get that there aren't a lot of tools available to games with 3D models like this, especially small companies on a budget. A lot of them are using the same assets and graphics tools to tell their stories, so many of them look "fake" compared to a AAA game like Cyberpunk. So if you're new to the genre, it can be hard to tell the different games apart. Watching game trailers, it's tough to tell the well-written, interesting stories from cheap shovelware.

    • @hiddenleaf22
      @hiddenleaf22 6 дней назад +9

      @@BCWasbrough that's why this channel exist. To help us distinguished which games are noteworthy and which games are shovelware.
      Personally I don't like high school and loli type of flavors, which are prevalent in h-games. When Annie discuss these type of flavors, I don't rant about it. I just move on and wait for next video. Good thing adult games are expanding their visual style and flavors that this channel can discuss.
      Comparing 3d avns to cyberpunk is like comparing honey select to dead or alive beach volleyball. Not a good comparison

      @@SexPositiveGaming Few hours in and there has been some dialog that is cringe. As in, did they copy/paste results from google translate? But generally most has been decent.
      The world building is interesting as is the story, characters. Shout out to the wife, your 2 proteges and the raider leader NPCs. Well written and very different vibes from each other makes them all feel like individuals as they should. Certainly I now see why you invoked Fallout in your mini review. Similar but still fairly different. And I like they went really out of the box and placed the story in post apoc Egypt. Nice choice.
      The 3D pics are ToN/TGO level good. But there isn't nearly as many animations as those titles sadly.
      Another plus, several choices do seem to matter. As me not killing certain people opened up side stories later on when they popped back up. And I liked that. Also the interactivity for a VN puts it closer to a hybrid VN and adventure game than strict VN.
      Overall quite happy with it. Solid 80% IMO thus far.

    One thing I want to see more from adult games this year is less reliance on those really odd looking 3D models. I definitely prefer stuff that goes the 2D route with actual art, like Knightly Passions as one example. There's some that I'll put up with, but it really is just what people stereotype adult games as being as far back as the 90s/00's and it'd be nice to shake that off.

      Cyberpunk 2077 is an adult game if we see it in the real meaning of the term.

      There are just a very few which happened to be quality ones, but those are definitely not published by Kagura Games for sure. Those are rather Patreon exclusive gems. Lacto Escape for example is a fantastic one, except that project development is crawling very slowly.

    Why people dislikes visual novels?

    • @bshibishi5889
      @bshibishi5889 6 дней назад +1

      Visual novels are less interactive, people who like games prefer to have more to say in them, and choices aren't usually that significant.

      Some people like their games to have actual gameplay. A visual novel has no meaningful primary game loop or skill based challenges. It's essentially watching a movie. Possibly a movie with branching paths, but not a game.

      Most visual novels only offer false choices. You might get a different line of dialogue or two, or perhaps an extra scene, but then the story proceeds essentially unaltered. It's understandable, of course -- it's hard enough to write a single good story, every meaningful choice essentially means you have to write another one. Still, it means you're essentially locked in and it can be off-putting if the MC starts doing/saying things you wouldn't. (For instance, I've put down several VNs when it became apparent that the MC just likes abusing/humiliating women (and why are there so many of those stories?) which simply isn't my spice.) So whether you enjoy a VN or just waste a bunch of time *really* depends on the story-teller, and it's so hard to tell ahead of time if they're telling a story that can resonate with you. That's why it was better when SPG could list flavors, but big corps want conformity for the lowest common denominator -- it's easer to market to -- so we get what we get.
      On the other hand, personally, I also don't like games of other genres where the spicy content is just sort of slapped on as a way of making it spicy. There's plenty of free porn if that's what I want, and I have a second monitor if I want a game at the same time.

    VN's for life!!! Seriously, it's the format that birthed this industry. No reason for hate. If you don't like them, just move on. I hate RTS games, but I don't spend anytime saying how pointless I think they are lol. Different strokes for different folks.

    i have some hate to grafic novel nsfw games, a lot of them fell same, but i have a special isue with them, but not all people have the same problem i have, and in the other hand i can't really rol my character, you need to roll exactly the story tell you to do or you get a bad ending, full your money to get rich one, full your smart for the nerdy one, full your fisical for the jog or fitness one, go to all partys to the social one, and the last one, in real life, you meet this person in 1 party, maybe she or he tell you to go another one, if they like you, they don't force you to go one, after other, and other, more if they know you are not that social person.
