That’s interesting about the ”female protagonist”=corruption, because I love corruption, but while I like female leads, it’s not my favourite. I get the feeling that in those games you talk about is where the MC gets corrupted too, and that’s not my flavour at all. I want to play as the corruptor. Is that considered another genre and flavour entirely, maybe? They’re not seldomly like trainer games, after all.
@@SexPositiveGaming Yeah, I am not as well-informed on the topic as you (obviously, that's why I come here!), but that is what it looks like to me too. Just as well - how many video games does one person have time to play, after all?
I love this channel, but I'm one of the (few? Many?) adult gamers who literally ONLY play games with female protagonists. To me personally it's MORE important by far than any flavour or theme. I'd rather play a female protag game with a theme i'm lukewarm about than any male protag game with a theme that I really enjoy. Although Yuri games don't tend to show up too much, I'd love there to be a Top Female Protag game in your rankings... because being completely honest, whilst I watch your channel a lot for the entertainment and general chill-but-informative vibe, as soon as I find out a game you're talking about is male protag only I'll generally mentally flag that game as "ignore". Even if there isnt a category of award specifically, I'd really love some kind of clear flag or section for when a game is either female protag or allows character creation and a choice.
@@SexPositiveGaming Yep! In general you do always mention that in the intro for any game you discuss. Perhaps a very minor suggestion might be to add an (F) or similar after the name of the title in the youtube chapter names, in situations where you've got a video with one-segment-per-game. Though I can see that might open up a can of worms for people wanting all sorts of different tags there! :D
okay, lots of stuff to say here. first off. please keep doing data driven lists. I love them. second, your dad is awesome. I love beauty and the beast, and he gave me a new perspective on it. third, I do want a female protag game that isn't corruption focused, but this come's with a new question, where are yuri games in this discussion? do women play these games too, or are they even aimed at women? they're never talked about here. have they totally faded into obscurity?
I can’t quite pinpoint my exact thoughts on AVNs these days. So many of them feel repetitive, and I often get a sense of deja vu when I try to play or read them. Maybe it’s just burnout on my part-that’s happened to me before with the fantasy genre in my novel reading as well. Recently, I’ve been reading a lot of historical fiction with female protagonists. Stories about female spies during World War II are especially intriguing to me right now. When it comes to AVNs, though, I have no interest in playing as a female protagonist. In an AVN, I want to feel like I have something in common with the protagonist. Maybe others are feeling the same way about male protagonists and that's why they ask for your suggestions. I’m also tired of the chapter-release format that’s so common in AVNs. Supporting a game for months on end while waiting for the next release-and in many cases, that release never coming-has become frustrating. It all starts to feel like a cash grab. I call it the “Patreon effect,” where developers drag out a story that should have been finished several releases earlier just to keep getting paid, instead of moving on to create something new. Or worse the dreaded several chapters into a novel and the dev decides that right now is the time to go back and redo all their previous renders without continuing the story line until all those are completed.
In December, i decided that i wanted to make a visual novel game, most likely won't use patreon or the f95zone as i want to make a complete product first, so hope to make great progress this year
Brave. Making a VN is hard and I find the constant encouragement from the community rejuvenating. There is something to be said though for making a complete game before releasing. Probably something this space really needs: more complete games.
@deepglugs4247 ya, kinda tired of incomplete games or games that get a patreon, then get 1-5 updates then abandoned didn't look good in my eyes, I have 2 story's in mind I want to make, but I'm gonna do the easier one to ease myself the genre. Plus, with me and college, I don't want to use patreon as I don't believe I can't make consistent updates, so I don't want to burden myself as well as others. Plus, I don't like the split communications of platforms where one gets more than the other. I want to finish at my own pace
As far as VN games go, I just need to be in the right mood to play them. For now, I'm in the mood for turn based tactical games. Adult Games? I just finished Winter Memories, the game was FUN.
in regards to the singer charecter you see in a lot of other games, a lot of devs use it as a kind of running joke/universe sharing to. like Lexi (thats her name) is also good friends with a main charecter in Artemis, and the player charecter is the same male model, so they joke about how they stole the others boyfriend
@SexPositiveGaming kinda yeah, there's also some fun bits in My bully is my lover and chasing sunsets (I think) about how there's this new VR game that will revolutionize the very way people can play games, called eternum
If violent games make world less violent than sexual games make world less... sexual? Given our demographic situation i developed countries I can see a problem with this but I doubt that it rally works like that.
Not quite. Giving people safe and healthy outlets for aggression is good for overall mental health and reduces violent crime. Similarly giving people safe and healthy outlets to explore sex and sexuality is good for overall mental health and reduces sexual crimes. Aggression and desire are innate aspects of the human condition, so providing safe and healthy outlets for them is generally a good thing. There is still a lot to say about what form those outlets should take and what exactly "safe and healthy" means, but it is increasingly clear that the whole "suppress and shame" methodology that has existed since (at least) the iron age makes the world a worse place.
For female protagonists I would like to see more with the options for lesbian relationships. I know its less than regular male protagonists but it would be great to see games like Summer in the City, Actual Roommates, Erica's Summer, LIP Lewd Idol series, Emy Live Show series, or Casual Desires (From Rebel Duet's dev) here. . This is a niche with a decent amount of content it can just be hard scouring Itch and Steam for it. And it doesn't have to be fully lesbian relationships, knowing games where the female protag can be Bi is great too or like Rebel Duet where the MC is gender selectable.
This is just my opinion, but I think the reason DAZ games could be on the decline is simply because the models look so dated. Even when I played my first DAZ game like 6 or so years ago I thought the models looked pretty bad. NLT media has somehow managed to make them look servicable, but with their latest ongoing game Symphony of Serpents, I have to say I'm largely unimpressed.
One category I feel gets neglected (and censored) is feminisation games, Most of the games we get either get abandoned or they keep on developing it without end. What I wish for is a game similar to Star Knightess Aura (particularly the way it handles the mental changes where you get to choose what your character gets corrupted by) but it’s a Feminisation Corruption game where warrior is cursed by a demon who slowly corrupts the mind of the MC and feminises him into a woman and corrupts him so the MC you have to stop the demon before they succeed.
I see titles like this and can't help but sing, "Let's all laugh at a game industry who can't learn anything hehehe." Really sad how much old folks are attacking the adult industry between film and games. But the games really need to innovate more too. The same old blender models and VNs aren't going to last.
I think we can learn. Especially if we started holding the people in charge of making video games accountable. I see so much anger and blame thrown around about the state of gaming, but I've yet to see one CEO in the gaming industry actually held accountable. Until then: expect things to continue to worsen as we all watch in impotent outrage.
@@SexPositiveGaming What does the patch do there? I can only imagine, that the game is released sfw and there is a mod that just happens to perfectly integrate and adds the nsfw content in, utilizing some unused files from the original game. But I have no idea what a patch would do as the game would already be banned at that point?
Nowadays, for me to play a daz character game it has to really really stand out. Most of them just have to much of the same "vibe" and feel to it for me to feel like it is a new experience.
I know you tend not to cover 0tome games (I don't even know if there are adult 0tome games), but I know they have a huge female audience and wonder if there is a parallel with that space. That when you ask for a Made For Female flavor, what your asking for is an adult 0tome game. Personally, I do not like corruption on my protagonist (female or otherwise), and tend to engage more with the "living another life" aspect of these sorts of games
There are a few more explicit otome games, but I hope to see more in the future. It is funny, because Eroge and Otome used to be the same thing and split apart a long time ago. I talk about this in my trainer series.
I didnt ask for it, but what comes to fem prot, I would just prefer fem prot award, not games for women. Tho if it's the same as top corruption I guess it doesnt need to have own category. What comes to adult games I always prefer playing fem prot, I still wish we would get more games what skyrim mods did to skyrim. Integrate stuff into combat, captures, erp etc.
Beside the dev 😐, what do you think of yandere simulator as a concept proof, how do you feel this relate to the type of game you cover, as in what elements they could benefit from it?
If Yaoi is literally the only flavor popular among women, then I feel like there is a gap in the market space. Esp considering I don't remember seeing a single Yaoi game that's not a VN VNs are cool and all but there gotta be some women that likes a bit of gameplay in their adult game right?
So, Western developers still haven't cracked the code for female players? They could just copy Korean/Chinese/Japanese video games made for female players. For example, the gacha game Love and Deepspace is making a lot of money.
@SexPositiveGaming I meant that if they tried hard enough, they could acquire a female demographic without resorting to gacha. Perhaps it's due to my ignorance, but I rarely (well, there *are* games for little girls and young teenage girls) see female-oriented games or games solely made for female gamers by Western developers. It's almost always either for male players or for both genders. I've only seen Eastern developers create games solely for their female audience, like otome games.
@@SexPositiveGaming i wonder could you do a free patreon version uncensor and on yt use code ,name for exemple the flavore starting by c could become the C life change or somethink
Honestly I really don't like those DAZ 3D model visual novels. They always look so cheap, & I don't think I've ever found the characters attractive in them. They're too plastic......& I've never wanted to bone a Barbie or Ken doll. It doesn't have to be anime, but the 2D art varieties of visual novel I'm all over. But I just can't get past how cheap & overall unappealing the 3D model variants are. If the writing in these games really are as good as people say, then in all honesty I think they'd be better as purely text based games. I have played some of those, like Corruption Of Champions that I have lost hours to.

Huh. Didn't know models were used in multiple VNs that way. Shouldn't be surprised though, considering other more egregious examples ... RPGM music being the same all over the place ... Don't even get me started on real porn games.

Perhaps skewed a little bit more towards romance but doesn't have to be, or at the very least, she's the one initiating the sex.

I get the feeling that in those games you talk about is where the MC gets corrupted too, and that’s not my flavour at all. I want to play as the corruptor.
Is that considered another genre and flavour entirely, maybe? They’re not seldomly like trainer games, after all.
Outside of trainers they are kind of rare.
@@SexPositiveGaming Yeah, I am not as well-informed on the topic as you (obviously, that's why I come here!), but that is what it looks like to me too.
Just as well - how many video games does one person have time to play, after all?
Keep up the great work. I use your recommendations to look into the next game I will buy. Got to sift through the 3000 new games. Thank you!!!!
My pleasure and have fun!
Thanks for sharing. I do try to talk about that, even if it sometimes me showing in the video as opposed to telling.
I'd love to hear more about flavours
I'm trying to figure out how to do that. Hopefully you'll like the one I do later this month.
okay, lots of stuff to say here. first off. please keep doing data driven lists.
There are lots of Yuri games. Just not many explicit Yuri games. I'll probably do a followup video exploring the nature of games for women this year.
Thanks for sharing!
In December, i decided that i wanted to make a visual novel game, most likely won't use patreon or the f95zone as i want to make a complete product first, so hope to make great progress this year
Good luck with your game!
Glad you liked it!
in regards to the singer charecter you see in a lot of other games, a lot of devs use it as a kind of running joke/universe sharing to. like Lexi (thats her name) is also good friends with a main charecter in Artemis, and the player charecter is the same male model, so they joke about how they stole the others boyfriend
So it is a cinematic universe!
There is still a lot to say about what form those outlets should take and what exactly "safe and healthy" means, but it is increasingly clear that the whole "suppress and shame" methodology that has existed since (at least) the iron age makes the world a worse place.
do u have patreon code for sunbreed?🙂
It is made by SuperWriter on Patreon.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for listing games you like in this genre! 😍😘
12:34 what game is this?
Symphony of the Serpent
Someone needs to make a Mario farming and strategy game to corner the Annie market!
Harvest Moon X Mario X Fire Emblem
Awesome podcast
Thanks!
Thanks again!!! ;p
My pleasure!
Thanks for sharing!
I see that group of flavors in text based games, but I think transformation games (of any type) are more difficult to show in other mediums.
I see titles like this and can't help but sing, "Let's all laugh at a game industry who can't learn anything hehehe."
Really sad how much old folks are attacking the adult industry between film and games.
You have to have a patch for anime style adult steam games? What is that about?
They are, by far, the style of game most banned by Steam.
Thanks for sharing!
I certainly think there should be more options than yaoi for the female market
Absolutely!
Thanks for sharing!
Beside the dev 😐, what do you think of yandere simulator as a concept proof, how do you feel this relate to the type of game you cover, as in what elements they could benefit from it?
I think that there is a ton of room for more Open World games that focus on relationships.
I've never found myself enjoying Daz games, just doesn't do it for me.
Thanks for sharing!
I don't feel like there's enough male protag nonfemdom nonntr nonshota sandbox games, they feel rather scarce.
It is great that you know what you enjoy!
If Yaoi is literally the only flavor popular among women, then I feel like there is a gap in the market space.
Esp considering I don't remember seeing a single Yaoi game that's not a VN
VNs are cool and all but there gotta be some women that likes a bit of gameplay in their adult game right?
There is absolutely room for growth in this market!
So, Western developers still haven't cracked the code for female players?
They could just copy Korean/Chinese/Japanese video games made for female players.
For example, the gacha game Love and Deepspace is making a lot of money.
Gacha games seem to always make a lot of money.
I've only seen Eastern developers create games solely for their female audience, like otome games.
start watch the video want to know the flavor trend watc until the end and sadly not as much info about flavor trend that i want
I am going to have to get much more clever in how I make my videos if I want to be allowed by RUclips to talk more in-depth about flavors.
@@SexPositiveGaming i wonder could you do a free patreon version uncensor and on yt use code ,name for exemple the flavore starting by c could become the C life change or somethink
New here, so please pardon what is almost certainly a gross display of ignorance, but what was the game with the catgirl running around ancient Egypt?
Carnal Instinct
Hey! What's wrong with Barbie?
I think now you would have to do a Disney themed episode, and it would need to include Disney villain song with smth like BG3 made with Raphael. Sex Positive Gaming bringer of bad news song: "Censoooooors! All Censors rules, expire. RUclips, RUclips, has its laws...." and so on. ruclips.net/video/Bk2AqXsJsWU/видео.htmlsi=Sy3JIPd-nZ5zlW35
I've only ever sung on one video.
17:44 That has always surprised me about modern society
There are people who can distinguish between what is real and what is fake?
And they are not in psychiatric hospitals?
How do these people function in daily life? 💀
Keep in mind every other religion aside from yours would fall into that category. Or every religion of all of them if you're not religious. That's billions of people who for the most part function fine in everyday life and yet believe in something fake.
Life is hard.
Huh. Didn't know models were used in multiple VNs that way. Shouldn't be surprised though, considering other more egregious examples ...
RPGM music being the same all over the place ...
Don't even get me started on real porn games.
I think it is expected given how innovation and imitation are inexorably intertwined.
@@SexPositiveGaming if it's not a main character, and done legally, then I'll give it a pass.
I doubt anyone is licensing Elsa Jean's likeness in their games, though.
On the topic of Disney, here is a question for the commenters:
Who is the hottest Disney princess?
I am partial to Belle or Rapunzel.
Belle without question.
definitely Belle
Anakin Skywalker on Mustafar.
Belle, Rapunzel, Ariel, and Elsa, in this order from hottest to less hot
Whoooo! New video!
Have fun!
Love ur channel for giving us some underrated adult games. 🫰😂
Thank you!
I'm not a woman, but when people referred to wanting female protagonist games(that aren't corruption), do you think that they basically want an otome game with actual sex? Perhaps skewed a little bit more towards romance but doesn't have to be, or at the very least, she's the one initiating the sex.
That could be the case. I think that something as broad as "female protagonist" is going to mean very different things to different people.
I can't think of why people hate... I forget his name. Out of the episodes I've seen, he's said nothing that made me go "GASP, HOW DARE YOU!!!!!!!!!!! YOU ARE THE EMBODIMENT OF HUMAN SCUM!"
I'll have to make him try harder then!
