@UCaFnSuTfd3QyDWFDp7Igrqg why? South tyrol was indipendent until ~1400 when Austria annexed it. Before, during Roman Empire, Tyrol was part of Roman province, meanwhile Norik (odiern Austria) was another province. After Roman Empire, Tyrol was part of ostroth kingdom, longobard kingdom. Each kingdom had the entire Italy as border so we can consider them as Italian kingdom. Tyrol became indipendent around 1200

@@stare2620 The Austrian army, since 1809, was hardly "shit", since it was responsible for Napoleon's first major defeat at Aspern-Essling without allies (unlike Britain & Prussia). "but they were shit and depended on others" Pretty sure that Prussia, Portugal, Denmark, Sweden, Saxony, Westphalia, Bavaria, Württemberg, Sicily, Sardinia, ect. were then "shit" too and needed help from their allies. However, France had the largest army aside maybe Russia in that period and the entire European continent needed to work together to defeat it, so every Coalition member was technically depended on each other, it was not an easy task at all (Austria had the 2nd largest Coalition army after Russia). Oh, and there were still moments where Austria was both an independent and effective military force - the battle of the Gefrees in 1809 (aka the Saxon campaign), where the Austrians conquered Saxony from two times bigger French-Saxon-Westphalian armies. Or better, the Neapolitan War, where the Austrians single-handely defeated a bigger and better equipped Neapolitan army at the decisive battle of Tolentino (12K Austrians vs 25K Neapolitans), taking a role in ending Murat's regime in Naples. And while yes, we Austrians had poor commanders, they still could be replaced with better ones. Most of the Austrian army was struggling against Russia, one of the reasons why the Serbs survived. Serbia also got supplies by France. And yet, after the first Allied victory the Serbians screwed up their own invasion of Hungary, search up "Srem offensive" (2K Austrian vs 6K Serbian casualties). Austria beating Serbia was as long possible until Russia joined. Also, the Americans lost in Vietnam, the Soviets struggled against Finland, the Italians couldn't invade Greece, the British lost the 1st Anglo-Afghan War, the French failed their first colonization attempt on Morocco (Larache expedition in 1765), the Ottomans lost against Montenegro, the Spanish lost the battle of Annual in 1921 against some Riffian tribes, and even the Prussians failed to subdue Denmark in the 1st Schleswig War. People should finally stop criticizing Austria for failing to invade Serbia when all those countries above lost/struggled against smaller/inferior armies too.
Austria lost 4 wars against Napoleon, not 5. They still won at Aspern-Essling without the help of anybody after the French emperor didn't lose a battle for a decade, plus also gave Napoleon a hard time at Wagram despite defeat. "no part in beating him for the final time" Then (according to your logic) Austria didn't fight at Leipzig along many other countries.
