I can’t believe how smart you are! The level of experience you have in basically everything is mind boggling!!! I love each and every one of your videos!
I'm glad you are absolutely certain. Professional builders are available to this. I think you can get them to build a small in-ground pond if you have a small but not too small yard in the right climate/environment. They will also do the occasional pond maintenance, I think, or instruct you on how to maintain the pond. However, taking good care of the few fish in the small pond would be your responsibility.
I've come to love watching things like aqua/pondscaping, and this really clicks for me. Your calming, southern voice soothes me and your choice of music is so nice and chill it's easy to follow, plus being filled with all the nature noise. Thanks for what you do, Brady.
Brady, you should have left 3 to 4 feet behind the fish tank to put plants in, and you should have added a catwalk along the outside of that wall, that would have been brilliant! Maybe next time! Love everything you do and hugs to Leon!
Bradly so happy you spoke about the difference in plastic. For those who might not think this is true or not. I will clairfy it. I am so allergic to the chemical leaching out of any plastic or treated wood where I get very large blister on my bum within 5 mins of sitting or touching.

So glad you posted as we were all worried for Leon, you and family in Hurricaine Helene.. My friend above Ashville got cut off but her home and family safe.....she had brought her chickens and goats brought into her house for safety luckily as the nearby mountain creek washed away their living areas !
Brady, your pond looks great, and those koi are spoiled. But I would strongly recommend replacing the rebar with stainless steel threaded rod. The current chemicals used for pressure-treated wood react with iron/steel, resulting in severe corrosion. The rebar will deteriorate long before the treated wood. Once severe rusting starts, the rebar will swell, lose strength, and may even split the wood. You don’t want to wait too long, because once that rebar swells, you’ll never get it out. By using stainless steel threaded rod, you can put a nut and large washer on the bottom and top to provide a clamping action for securing the timbers. (The timbers were still wet from the treatment process. As they dry out, they will shrink. The threaded rod lets you compensate for the shrinking, since you can snug it up as needed.) If you want more information, you can research the problem with current treated wood and corrosion. (The old arsenic-treated wood was not as reactive, so if you used rebar in an old project that has held up, it might have been older wood that holds up better than modern treated wood.)
@@Bradybrandwood I already have a small pond, with my 20-year-old goldfish in it, i wanted to offer him a good retirement after years in a tank. It’s so interesting to see how you build your pond, it may look simple but there is a lot of thought behind it
Hey Brady, structural engineer here. I've seen two things that struck me as odd.
1. The poles of the deck, are those just driven in the ground? If so please make sure to periodically check them out. Wood that changes it's water-content over the year is likely to start rotting. I don't want to see the deck crumble. Locally (I'm in Europe so not sure how the US code is) we make a concert foundation (usually a pipe that's filled with concrete) and drive a galvanized rebar in it and the face of the timber.
2. Why didn't you make a cement floor for the pond that's leveled and with a slope to the drainage? I know you did a cement foundation for the three timbers that were laying on the ground, but if you already take out the mixer, it would have made sense to me to do it fully.
But over all a great way to make a pond and depending on what my girlfriend says I might build one for myself. Thanks for the inspiration
