- Complete scenic drive on I-70 eastbound through the Colorado Rocky Mountains from Glenwood Springs to the Denver area. As soon as we hop onto I-70 we're treated to 12 miles of pristine natural beauty through Glenwood Canyon which has some of the most stunning scenery of any highway on the Interstate System. As we continue to head east the mountains continue to get taller and we continue to climb in elevation in this exciting trip.

Beautiful memories, I was born in Gilman and raised in Minturn, now live in Arvada Colorado. We always went to Glenwood to enjoy the pool and the caves. I am 75 and a widow, thank you for the ride❤️❤️❤️

I was born and raised in Arvada. :D What part are you in? I was off 64th and Ward. The drive west to Glenwood was always a favorite, even as a kid. It's just beautiful from Denver to there.

Another place I loved riding thru was Wind River Canyon, Wyoming so hoping to see that some day. My husband passed away 12 years ago and I am now 83 but was blessed to see a lot of this beautiful country.

What city? Daughter wants to move there in a year, Colorado Springs. How is this area? Crime rate?
Not just beautiful but also great weather. Yes it snows but it's dry cold that doesn't penetrate into your body like you have in the East coast. You can literally go outside with a light jacket or henley and be fine. Also, plenty of sunshine pretty much everyday, even right after it snows, which melts the snow away.
Too bad the people there suck, especially in Boulder. Too many Southern CA transplants as well. And once you get down to Fort Collins and Loveland, it looks no different from the desert in Texas.
The river beside the road and the mountains either side, and the colours of the trees, just gorgeous 😊

This drive will NEVER get old. I used to make this drive regularly from a small town called Paonia. I would drive over the pass and into Carbondale. I would hook up with the interstate right there in Glenwood Springs. One of my favorite drives. On video, I notice the elevation in the roads that I never felt while driving. Having the river off to the side makes the drive.
Can't agree more, this is one of our all time favorite drives. The Colorado River along the highway just adds another layer onto the beauty of this route.

I lived in Colorado for 30 years and traveled this highway many times. It's breathtaking beauty is beyond comprehension. 💖
Even with all the wonderful places we've been able to visit and roads we've driven, I-70 through Colorado still hold up as one of our all-time favorites. Always excited to take that route!

Not so fond memories of driving I-70 pre this rebuild. Also the decade of construction to build this. Alternating single lane one way at a time. Most don't notice that one of the requirements for this was to have as little impact on the canyon as possible. So significant portions are elevated on thin piers. It is an engineering masterpiece that feels like it's part of the canyon. Curving and rising with it. Also love Loveland pass, Vail pass, such a beautiful drive into Denver from here.

Took this drive in August of '22. Westbound we went thru the Eisenhower tunnel and eastbound went over the Loveland Pass. Stunning...just absolutely stunning.
Hard to say which direction on I-70 through the Rockies is our favorite. Love going westbound from Denver to Grand Junction and onto Utah, watching the landscape slowly change as you head west to more arid desert with hints of red rock is spectacular.
One of my favorite Rocky Mountain drives is over the divide. Good stuff!

The route is very picturesque, with lots of beautiful views,very relaxing- I love it.Glenwood Springs is a destination for many vacationers and is famous for its hot springs. A US Air Force colonel and NASA astronaut hailed from this Colorado town; the moon not everyone knows about it.Denver is a beautiful city on a plain at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. Oh yes, the Colorado Rockies blanketed in snow are absolutely breathtaking. We’ve been planning on taking a winter road trip and recording some of the best routes in winter.
Man they should shoot a horror film here. It would be awesome. Make it a road horror where you see the scenary. Have the first half in snow and the second like this....changing of seasons, same route(life), some redemption arch or something....will work.
I find it strange why every horror or romance or drama is set in LA/NYC

remember riding this road a few years back with my sister, parents, and grandparents. It was the first time myself and my grandparents had been out west. My grandpa loved this road, ill never forget that trip.

This road is a testament to the road builders art.. sweeping corners , gradual sloops and stunning views...if you were driving a EV and we're running on empty at the start of the decline, with regen braking you would be fully charged at the bottom... magnificent road love to drive it one day!!.♥️🇺🇸🇺🇦

One of the most beautiful drives in the country. Glenwood canyon was one of the very last few sections of the interstate system to be finished. It's a stunning canyon and they had to build the freeway with as little impact as possible so they built it like a bridge, elevated and only the pylons touching. They had to replace plants that got moved for construction etc. So the road really moves and flows with the canyon. The passes are gorgeous. It's just beautiful up there.

We went throughout Wyoming !!!!! Highway 80 We visited 9 States recently and it was the BEST vacation.
In March we drove through 4 States. I feel The West and East Coast are so beautiful.

I drove this several years ago. Beautiful drive. Might be time for another road trip. I'm from MS and I love driving on some of the older highways that take you through small towns that you don't see on an interstate.

That upper deck was just being built in the mid-80s. Before it opened, it was just a two-lane through the canyon. I remember stopping there on a long traffic delay during construction in 1986.
I bet it looked a whole lot different then compared to now!
@@AdventureEveryDay Two lane highway with frequent and long construction delays. We sat there like an hour and people were getting out of their cars to play in the river.
