If I may: the round metal pans are usually spun, not pressed.
The very subtle concentric pattern on the surface and the rolled bead are telltales of this very "simple" and common process (working with a lathe, wood forms and a skilled worker is quicker and cheaper than enormous hydraulic presses and hardened steel molds). Pretty interesting technology in itself.

Great idea for a series. Not everybody can afford some of the desired equipment. I made a lot of my brewing gear when I first started brewing beer. Also helps to keep the creative juices going when you're in a pinch. "What do I already have that can be repurposed? "

If you really want a custom pan you can get one 3D printed. A sintered print would be the best option but it’s not going to be a cheap print. You will get your own custom pan if you take the time to design one in something like Fusion360. The most printed thing I’ve found tends to be sluice designs.
I'd be particularly interested in seeing a video about some of the old drywashers people built.

@@ChrisRalph What you're thinking of is FDM type printers that use reels of plastic. A sintering printer uses a laser to fuse powder and can be very smooth. The last type is a resin that's hardened by a laser in layers. It's very precise but resin tends to be toxic and far more expensive for large prints.
Sintering printers are expensive but there are places online where you can upload a design and get it printed by a sintering type printer. It's not cheap but there's a wide choice of materials from plastic to metals.

@@wildernesspost8764 I would recommend the prusa mk3s for the easiest to use, great customer service, great quality prints, and reliability. I love them. They run about $749 for the kit that you can assemble or $999 for a assembled printer. They are manufactured in the Czech Republic. I enjoy tinkering so the build was fun. I have built 4 of them so far.
There are some cheaper brands out there but are not as reliable and sometimes need some repairs and modification. 3d printing is alot of fun and can be a hobby on its own or supplements almost any other hobby out there.

Plus, in the hot springs system, there are very rare malleable nickle/iron, with many other elements, small nuggets traveling in the system underground. Also, there is electrum gold particles traveling in the hot spring river system. You may find this very interesting. I hope to hear from you soon.

I saw the video. I agree with carrying all the gear for a high banker being a pain, but a simple stream sluice weighs maybe 6 or 8 pounds and can be carried in one hand. I'd have used a sluice box rather than trying to use natural bedrock. That way after shoveling the gravel you could just pick up the sluice and clean it rather than all the time trying to suck up all the gravel off bedrock and hoping you got it all.

I will put my money where my mouth is... are you willing to back up your belief? I will take 2 metal coat hangers... cut them in front of you... and you will be amazed and I will be 100k richer sir... I have been doing it for years... not everyone can do it...I will say this... if you can master it... theres not a better way of finding gold... they point the way... when I'm over metals or water... basically things that ground to the earth the best... my rods.. even coat hangers will cross... are you willing to make a bet sir?

Thanks for your kind words. On the dowsing thing, watch my video on the topic and listen to what I say about dowsing for gold. See: ruclips.net/video/04KcwCYo7oI/видео.html On that video, I describe a scenario a friend did a test that is very similar to what you suggest and the dowser lost. People believe all sorts of things. There is a sizable group on RUclips that believes the world is flat like a pancake, not spherical. I get folks commenting on that video all the time who insist that dowsing for gold works. I only ask that they provide some evidence to convince me - and so far no one has. There is tons of gold out there to be found - that is without question. Post a video on your RUclips channel of you with all the gold you have found dowsing. If you can show that you have found at least 10 pounds of gold with your dowsing skills, I will move forward with a bet as you suggest. However you will need to bring cash with you to the bet as I will not take an IOU or a check. I can bring cash and we will have a third party hold both of our cash piles. You know there has been a standing offer (not by me) of one million dollars to anyone who can prove dowsing works and no one has claimed that prize, right? Why have you not claimed that cash? Anyway, I look forward to seeing the many pounds of gold you have found dowsing.

25 yards away ?? In the sand ? So you need to know where they are first ?
Gold197 is nature's Gold Element, it's stable and non radioactive. It's as far away from being an Actinide as you can get, 100%stable. It's cousins 196 and 198 are radioactive (2 and 6 days...1/2) but also man made. (medicinal) There is nothing to detect. Metal detectors use bounce back frequency after projecting wave lengths. You project nothing with dowsing rods. At best, the ground you stand on is not level and your balance allows the rods to seek the low spot by way of gravity, the long end going first, which is where the heavy will be too. Might as well wait for rain and find the puddles. Same results.
Slim ?? ! .....He don't need no dowsing rod, those rods ask him where to go. That's why it works for him. (saw the vid.) Just like Slim, Chris will be real and show you how it's done. They are both worth your time in the field of Geology.
