@TheDorcy99 actually there is some controversy on whether or not the correct lyrics were "la dura sorte" or "mia cruda sorte". Many people who sing it do in fact sing the "mia cruda" which would give validity that it is at least the more popular of the two versions.
I feels so weird to listen to Radu Marian singing this first and listening to Malena Ernman afterwards xD Doesn't matter. I love both versions the same!!!! :3
@AccidentalTouch Her range is out of the box. Since she can play within this box, as an singer, an artist, she can sing high/medium/low notes like no other. Her law....so to say :)
Man könnte sagen:"Gut gebrüllt, Löwe!".
Ironically the first time I heard this exquisite aria by Handel was on Barbra Streisand's classical album.Handel himself must have loved the tune(a sarabande I think) as he used it three times in 3 different works -the first time being as an instrumental piece in his early German language opera "Almira" and then as "prendi la rosa lascia la spina" in "The triumph of time and truth" before using it again in the opera "Rinaldo".
What a horrible sound, she cannot sing. Just because you study singing for a few years, open your mouth wide and bring out an opera trembling sound, is something everyone can learn. Try it right now. And on top of that she narrows her vocal cords like Celine Dion does, and it may sound big because opera is big, but the sound is not beautiful it hurts my bones. She didnt so to speak study her own voice and study untill she found a beautiful sound. And most opera singers dont do that, and there for are not very good singers and most of the time have an anoying sound. And then to learn after that to bring the words across the right way. No no no no no. That is why operahouses are empty. Opera is created to get the sound to the back op the oval operahouse, that used to be round like in Sheakespeare theatre. More people needed to fit in so they lengthened the back further away. For that Opera sound much was given up. I speak German and Italian and still cannot hear the words they are singing because off the thembling in the voice and far reaching aoooohs, the pronounciations of language get lost. The sound needs to be so loud that even a vowel disappears. So loudness and thrembling destroys the singing. Now we have microphones. One example is Sumi Jo trying to sing sons and daughters which a large threble left over of opera, trying to sing into normal. It is like hiphop, they sing jljljkdf motherfucker, which is about the only word anyone can hear, bitch jljlj. Further she is much on television because she is a leftist married to a jew who setup nobel prizing, because they really like to tag themselves yellow which is born in arabia, not here. People who are in prizing ducks dogs shows are of her descent. I couldnt care less if she goes to SM clubs whipping herself and others in black clad if she enjoys it for herself. I wouldnt. SO keep it to yourself and stop others pushing yourselves on. The same for your ideas by the way. For everyone there is a place. Stop putting yourself forewards. I like to ad, now hearing her first tunes a few times. In the beginning she was worse not a good operasinger at all. If you study a piece 5 hours a day anybody can learn opera. In opera as written above you can hide bad singing, like belting. The song starts with wash sha, kaa,,, the kaa, third word is off key. Then, bongaa is floating sound not even mixed voice well put, and the 'gaa' of bongaa, is floating slowly up. As if searching for the right not, not hitting the not right right away. She is not good on the note, but as said above hides it in a loud + thrembling operasound, that anybody can create. Like Adele hiding in belting, and even the non belting sounds are off key. She simply cannot hit one note right. And this opera singer is the same. If you think that i cannot hear it. I also cannot float away in the music because she didnt continue studying voice, the sound + right bringing of words or interpretation. These last two are even more important. I dont study voice or acting that long because you have to work. But even the ones who do, many are not that good. And as i explained you cannot hide away in a vocal technique. Who has a world class singing i have to say is Lara Fabian. But then her opera is average. I hope very much that opera, like hiphop disappears, and better quality singing arrives. And the American shouting like beyonce and co, just for the peddestal show off, look what i can do, is not appreciated also by me. I dont come for a show of, i come for someone performing for the listener, whether in talking or singing. And the woman above is just starting opera and not on key and not even come so far as how to bring words right across.

This was a combination of voices of countertenor Derek Lee Ragin and soprano Ewa Malas-Godlewska digitally merged together: they wanted to try to approximate castrato voice so they thought using a countertenor for high notes, of course nobody knows how castrati really sounded.
I know of Moreschi and I've heard him here. There are three problems with Moreschi vs famous castrati like Farinelli 1. Moreschi wasn't an opera singer, he sang mostly in churches, and we don't know how good he was. So it'd be a little bit like someone in future trying to judge how say Malena Ermann or Renee Fleming sound after hearing a recording of a church soloist. 2. Radu Marian is probably the closest, but we don't really know its Also, as with any voice type, there are different singers, and he has facial hair and doesn't look like a descriptions of castrati. As to the surviving recordings, a) wasn't an opera singer - he sang mainly in churches b) he was way past his prime c) the recording technology was bad.
