I'll give you three that come to mind now: Brangane's warning from Isolde; Butterfy's entrance; and don't laugh, the opening and closing of the Dr. Kildare TV series (not the sung recording). This is an incredable 60 seconds of music.

Fantastic, heartfelt performance. Korngold's ability to compose elongated melodic lines of great beauty was one of his several musical gifts. Phenomenal composer.
Welch ein gigantischer Unterschied zur Stimme eines Jonas Kaufmann. Kerl überragt ihn um mehrere Armeslängen! Kerls Legato und Ausdrucksstärke sind überragend!
Kaufmanns Stimme ist für diese eher heldischen Rollen völlig ungeeignet, aber das scheint ihm niemand zu sagen. Und wenn er nun auch noch Weihnachtslieder aufnimmt, auf denen er klingt wie ein Frosch kurz vorm Platzen, dann ist ihm wohl wirklich nicht mehr zu helfen. Schuld an solchen Karrieren haben allerdings - wie bei Netrebko und dem späten Domingo - die Fans, die solchen Käse kaufen bzw. das Geld für Auftritte ausgeben

Christopher McQuaid I watched the opera first time in Berlin many years ago and later in Aarhus,Denmark with Torsten Kerl both times.It was an overwhelming experience of emotions and good singing.
For a long time this was true sadly due to WW11 -but over recent years there has been much revaluation of his work and now Die Tote stands among one of the most revived works in many opera companies throughout the world.
Just plain gorgeous! I was lucky enough to hear and see him sing the role in San Francisco back in 2008. Kaufmann's performance today from Munich didn't come anywhere close to this and I generally like Kaufmann.

Marvellous singing, excellent orchestra and conducting... but the staging is by one of those half-clever directors who has to labour the obvious. If you watch the whole opera, available also on RUclips, you find Paul spends the first act rolling around on the ground in emotional agony and stroking the hair of a doll. When Marietta sings her aria he slides open the lid of Maria's tomb and takes out her skeletal hand to hold - bathetic and undermining. This is like Carry on Korngold. II know the perfect place for that bloody doll! Shame as the music and performances are superb.
Why didn't Pavarotti or the other two of the three tenors sing this? // How many times is this melody sung in this opera: 1) the soprano version, 2) the duet, and 3) now this? Wunderlich would have sung this beautifully, also.

Nebenbei, einige wunderbare Soprane - z. B. Regula Mühlemann - singen dieses Lied, und auch wenn man nicht jedes Wort verstehen kann, letztlich wird der Vortrag doch zum Genuss. Superb tenor, but there are far more of those than great composers. Korngold is one of the very greatest and still sadly underrated.

Pavarotti wouldn´t have mastered it besides he didn´t sing German opera.

Den Knödeltenor schlägt er stimmlich um Längen.

Art is about the subjectivity of perception. So yours is different from the director´s. It´s live and let live, nothing else.
As an actor Kerl is incredible. I don't like the scooping to high notes. It sounds awful
