    Thanks Dad! Waiting for my new axle. Always nice to see how easy it is first.

    Thanks so much for the video. Replaced mine easily! Got some new steering rod bushings also. My 22 year old mower lives on thanks to generous people like you and a little effort on my part. Replaced the steering assembly also. All thanks to RUclips University.

    Your video on axle repair was a BIG help for me. I bought a use Husqvarna LTH-120. Big mistake believing things the seller said. I found out via the serial # on the motor, this mower is 31 years old. I already replaced the steering box and got rid of a lot of play in steering wheel. Next I will tackle the front axle bushings, (at the least). Probably the spindle bushings too. There were not very many videos on axle repair. YOURS was very good and rebuilding my axle and steering will be my winter project. Thanks a bunch , Indy bob

    Great video. Same thing happened to my almost identical craftsman LT1000 20hp mower a few years ago, but when I had to replace the axle I upgraded to a cast iron one. Worth the extra money if your gonna bother to do all that.

    • @FarmDad

      I didn't even know that upgrade was available. Good info.

    Best video I could find anywhere on replacing a front axle. My biggest three issues were: 1) Placing jack under tractor. On first try, I had it positioned the jack under the plate under the axle, so of course, I couldn't remove the axle; 2) I didn't remove the rod from the steering link before dropping the axle, which made removing all of the nuts quite a bit more difficult; and 3) Getting out the old cotter pins. It should be easy, but I didn't have my hook tool and pliers were anything but easy on twisted up old pins. This is all pretty dumb stuff, so if watch the video a few times, and you follow the directions, you should be home free.

    This helped to see how things go together with the axle support braces. My support brackets are both cracked on one side, but the axle is fine. I'll need to drop it all to weld the support brackets back together.

    Would you perhaps have the part number for that new axle? I live on the forgotten island of Tasmania, and it is a little bit harder to get the right parts. My mower also has a torn out spindle housing, and the bushes are just bits and pieces. A part number would be most useful. Thank you very much.

      But it took more than six months to get the part from Sears. So be patient. They may have solved their supply chain problems by now, however. Wish me luck. I'm about to install now!

      @pierrejoubert681 Год назад +1

      @@loganfry5852 That is rather interesting, that delivery to me, here at the butt-end of the planet was much faster; less than a week, and the local agent had it in stock. Perhaps I was just lucky that the main Husky distributor in Australia had the part on the shelf. By the way, I put sheets of thick plastic (cut from milk jars) between the rocking axle and the supporting 'box' to reduce slop, and prevent metal-to-metal contact. It works like a charm. I also installed spherical rod-ends on the steering rod. However, someone else is now enjoying the benefit of all that work, because I upgraded to a new John Deere, with V-twin engine. It made me very happy that I could buy something made in the USA, here in Tasmania!

    watched every video on utube for this repair and everyone neglects to show removing the tin pan below the muffler. the axle will not drop out with this part in place. I pried and beat with a hammer cussed and complained until it came out. just as difficult to reinstall as the 4 bolts on each side do not align with the holes. easy removal and install with muffler heat shield removed.

      This one ended up outlasting the transmission in that tractor.

      @FarmDad think you might try to replace that or rebuild it? The transmission is my biggest upcoming concern
