John, good man -- you've got at least 30+ years on young Brighde -- and she can hold her own, can she not? Amazing young piper. A name to watch out for to be sure!
There was a full trad week on in dublin a few weeks ago - part of it was a huge piping concert. Karlos Nunez was headlining it, O'Tooles came out, Cian Smith came out, the works. She was in it too - she's one damn good piper.
Bought a set of Johnny Bourke pipes from that famous Crehan family and I'm sure you would all give them a run for their money:::)) You would scare the living daylights out of our Irish pub they don't know what they are, let alone the Durham drum::: I'm to be sure to be sure, happy days:: Cheer's from Australia
It's so sad to hear the recent news of John's passing. It has really shook me, since I have loved his music so much and cherished it over the years. I've just been sitting here in tears, listening to the amazing music that this great man has brought us. This virus has taken a hero of our music too soon. May you rest peacefully in heaven, John. Gone but never forgotten.
Hello sorry I didn't see this response until now, I actually downloaded this program called Hola which makes my IP address look like i'm in the UK so now i can watch it! Thanks for being so helpful though!

Eh?? He’s dead? I was talking on Facebook with him a fortnight ago
@@martinlaird4738 As far as I can tell, John's fine! He just posted yesterday on Facebook and Twitter.
I was talking to him yesterday, please delete this comment.
Maybe it's a Paul McCartney thing
Me and my sister go on board titanic 2 in 3 class
wonderful and powerful playing
'tis a bonny tune
These are all standard Irish reels: O’Rourke’s/Cooley’s/The Copperplate
I’m really impressed by Brighde’s versatility here. I don’t know if she knew those tunes beforehand, but I KNOW John knew them well
how do i find the full video of this BBC program?
Back on bbc alba

Never noticed they make a burl on the unlearn pipes too!
We don’t call it a burl and the technique is different
any names for the tunes?
Hello. Check if I am right, but the first is O'Rourke and the second one is Joe Cooley reel (thesession. org, tune#1). I don't know for the third
The New Copperplate is the last tune
Shouldn't the guitarist be mentioned by name too ?
yes
Thanks - all good !
Only when he learns the correct chords
I am not quite sure it is Paul Meehan :)
nice tune well played but very poor recording. it's a shame.
