Did you ever get a ticket for speeding?
*PRIUS V!!! Value, Voluptuous!!!*
Scotty can you do a review of Ram 1500 Hemi made in the USA? I'm thinking about buying one but many are made in Mexico.
Toyota clearly got it right, it's a nice practical vehicle that does what you want and lasts. Just a shame the other manufacturers have made such a mess of their hybrids.
We used those V series for cabs in Las Vegas and they all went well over 400k miles driving 24hrs a day, and they were never in the garage for anything except normal maintenance.
I had a 2015 that I put 310 k mi on before I'm not so serious accident finally totaled it. I kind of abused it by going way too long between oil changes, sometimes 20 to 27,000 mi. Nevertheless, everything kept working and I only had one unexpected repair - replacing the electric coolant pump at 220,000 mi. Front brakes lasted 125K, rear brakes lasted 225K. All maintenance and service and repair costs seemed pretty reasonable to me.
Taxi drivers have used Prius's here in the UK ever since day one - very reliable.
I drove Uber and Lyft for 31,000 trips, about half a million miles. I did it all with two 2015 Priuses (standard, front wheel drive, non plug-in). The first Prius I gave up after 40,000 because it was totaled by F-150 that crunched me from behind. The dude's truck was quite messed up and he was unconscious. I was fine but the back end of my Prius was pushed in about 13 in.
The second Prius I drove for 310,000 mi and all I needed to fix on it was the electric coolant pump that I had replaced. Everything else was just fine. Of course, I had to replace the front brakes twice in that time (they last about 125,000 mi), and the rear brakes once (they go about 230,000 miles). Replaced tires every 50,000 mi. Oil change every 10 to 12,000 mi. Wipers every year or so and headlight bulbs about every 25,000 mi. The 12 volt original battery lasted 6 years, and I replaced it myself for $130.
That is quite an endorsement.
Priuses are fairly popular for Uber and Lyft driving here in Minneapolis, but not as popular as somewhat cheaper sedans. I drove to 2015 Priuses for half a million Uber/Lyft miles - 31,000 trips. I cannot praise those cars more. Overall, they were very reliable, good in the winter, cheap to run, and at the time I bought them, relatively inexpensive to buy in finance as a low mileage used car.
@bobbabai If you don't mind me asking, how often did you change the transmission oil on your prius?
@@NostalgicGabeYT I don't know. I did service the Toyota dealer recommended and they might have done it once. Not sure.
How many people agree that Scotty’s videos are the greatest gift to people looking to own & maintain reliable, durable vehicles that won’t bankrupt you or leave you stranded in the desert! 👍🙏🏽👍
Love my 2022 Prius Prime! 55mpg on gas. Up to 35 miles on electric only. 33,000 miles and no problems.
You even 😍 😍 The Prius 2025/2026-- more as the future Solid-state 🔋 🔋 would give owner up to 60 miles ─ and also when the Elon-gate and CCP China go full EV in Mainland ─ Crude Oil 🛢 🛢 would be less than 60 Dullars a Barrel and Gasolines at the ⛽ ⛽ Pumps would be 60% of now it costs a Gallon/Litter. While as Demand on the Electrical Grids across USA/Canada would have to be more ─ that will translate to higher cost for Carrier like ERCOT of Texas and/or P&G California Utilities Company. (That not accounted for OLEC Organization of Lithium Exporting Countries like Chile/Argentina and Australia Jack up their prices like OPEC has been doing to the Crude Oil...
C'est La Vie 💕 💕...
I bought a Mazda Cx-30 last year, I just couldn’t find a Corolla Cross and the Rav4 was just out of my price range. Had I realized the redesigned Priuses were out I would have moved heaven and earth to get my hands on one. They’re breathtaking gorgeous, reliable, 50+ mpg. Toyota makes such excellent products, it will definitely be my next car.
I also love my 2022 prius prime lol. I bought it out the door for 21k brand new. It's certainly a great car for only 21k.
My 2017 Prius Prime is 6 years old . It still looks and drives as new!
@@vinn283How did you get it for 21k? Lol msrp is $31k
How many shocks before the industry gives out?
Industry seems to be persistent.
*PRIUS V!!! Value, Volumptuous!!!*
At least 2 shocks a day
Any more Scotty car industry shocks and I risk cardiac arrest.
Till their battery catches on fire
Ford is having a huge recall right now on the bronco and explorer.
Scotty keep up with your information and content. God bless you and your Loved ones 🙏.
Hate to say it. If bad quality is built, the responsible are not the employees but the company for allowing their quality assurance to go down and not promoting or incentivizing good quality to employees. Don’t matter where you build them. Countries are not responsible or accountable for quality… companies are.
@Brandon-li3sg that statement is irrelevant with accountability
UAW is at fault.
Gotta agree with that comment it's true
Great show 👍
Thank you for the video. Blessings to you.
I am so happy there are so many “best car” to choose from 😂
Thank you so much Scotty✨
I've got a 2013 Prius C. Bought it for Uber and Lyft in 2016 and it worked great, even in the snow with no chains! Riders were amazed! Now I'm not doing that anymore so I don't drive much. Car will probably last for YEARS!
Any rust on it
The C is a great car; it should have outlasted the V in new car production...
@@Tragick_Sin Not yet
Scotty's doing another Toyota commercial.
Lol..
Gotta be honest ..I'm 50 , owned many new cars...and I won't buy anything else now ...Hondas close second...I just didn't keep my 2 Hondas for more than 250k like i did with my toyotas..which is why I say that... wish I did keep both Hondas for longer just to see if id get the 300k plus miles on em like my toyotas have on em .. but I got good money for em even with 250 k
I find it funny that as recently as a year ago, he used to bash Priuses...
haha he got me sold in toyota s more.
Okay, But, if it Just Wouldn't Be Soooooooooo Terribly Ugly ... !!! ! !!! 😛
@UPLINK: SCOTTIE IS JUST SPEAKING THE TRUTH, TOYOTAS ARE THE BEST VEHICLES AND AMERICAN VEHICLES ARE JUST GARB@GE. IT’S THAT SIMPLE.
This guy is awesome!
Scotty is not honest with you.
My 2007 and still smooth and get up to 46 mph. Love it. And it got 179 k miles on it. My friend has 2012 and has 660k miles on it, still run every day. He got a lot of miles on it because he job is delivery documents thru state to state. He said he is only cha ge oil and so regular maintenance since first day. Battery still working. It surprised me a lot even I work for Toyota too, can't believe it that strong.
@Toyota Make easily removable tire air-pressure censors. Or, remove them all together. Either is fine.
I see used Prius in my area that have north of 250,000 miles and 10-15 years olde.
I got rid of my 1970 VW Bug…
I am keeping my Prius probably for ever.
20/20 that the Bug will be missed.
Scotty doing ANOTHER prius video , and im MAD AS HELL
Had a 2008 Prius - loved it
I currently drive a 2008 Prius Touring ( European style suspension). I didn't know that driving a Prius could be fun.
yeah so well made. currently on my first toyota hybrid my first and last toyota.
Inexpensive, but competent, recommendation for scan tool to check hybrid systems?
I drool looking at the landscape there in Rhode Island.
That's literally the saddest thing I've ever heard.. do you live in a prison or Texas? Because Rhode Island is literally a dirtier version of New Jersey.. where do you think the entire cast of Jersey Shore comes from? 😂😂
Still waiting for a review of the 2016-2020 Toyota Yaris (Mazda). 🏁
I had to change the engine in my 2016 twice due to blown head gasket and burning oil. Original engine lasted 180,000 the second engine lasted 60,000. Same as the first engine
In other markets it's called the Prius Alpha and it also has a little brother called the Prius C /Prius Aqua, they're the most reliable vehicles known to man. Also the Toyota Prius doesn't have conventional CVT but rather a pair of tandem planetary motors that operate like a transmission AKA eCVT. Basically the whole thing is bulletproof.
Scotty, please make a video about the best vehicles in your opinion for rideshare drivers, 15 yrs old and newer & 4 door 5 seat and up. Thank you
It'll just be a list of cars he's paid to promote, which this year is Toyota. He's no longer unbiased and honest, remember all the Prius bashing and hybrid hate he's had for years before they sent him cash to sell their junk
These are so popular as taxis in the Metro Vancouver area!
Someone shocks the car industry every other day huh
Hi Scotty,
Here in germany these are called Prius +, they are beloved with uber/Taxi drivers.
I rented a regular engine Mitsubishi mirage to drive from Iowa to New York. That car ran 75 80 mph the whole trip and average mileage was between 39.7 and 40.7 not a comfortable car but mileage was excellent. I drove 2012 Toyota rav4 out to my daughter. Much more comfortable and it managed 28.7 mpg
Be weary of the Prius years 2010 to 2014 or 2015. Look it up, there are numerous people having problems with the EGR, the electric water pump frequently failing, and a prone to fail head gasket. This wagon version has a different engine I think; but I got rid of my Prius because of these issue. Toyota never issued a recall.
I always ring that 🔔
I recently purchased a 2018 Toyota Highlander. I read that you should only use Toyota Super Long Life pink coolant. I hate buying stuff from dealerships so is there an equivalent to that coolant that I can buy at an auto parts store that will work in my Highlander?
What do you think about 2011 Volvo xc90
Great Car. But in LA you would have to hire an armed guard to protect your Catalytic converter and you could probably insure a Lambo for less.
Lol catshield has worked fine for me. No thefts in LA…yet
Does Scotty talk at all about what differentiates the Prius V from a standard Prius? Is the V more attractive and why?
V wagons are highly sought after and are not dirt cheap. All the Uber and Lyft drivers that specialize in airport pick ups love these for the space and efficiency.
The Prius V in Europe had 7 seats I believe!
When I had a Prius for 2yrs, I drove in power mode all day 😂
Good work Scotty!
if you're worried about the battery dying, don't be, there are a lot of 3rd party shops that will repair and replace dead cells.
you should worry about the inverter instead.
Its been like 3 years since the car got discontinued....how is it new?
*First time it's been in his driveway.
Compared to his 1994 Celica, it's new
When Scotty talks the Church bells ring.
Beautiful car I'd like own one.
The new 8 years old Prius 😂
And yet another shocker 🤣
Good catch!😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
True, Only the exterior changes. Tesla cars has the same exterior but different components under the skin.
*PRIUS V!!! Value, Volumptuous!!!*
This really looks like the Honda Fit!
1:03 “so anyway I started blasting.”
Frank ha ha ha
Hi all!
Is it worth buying a 12+ years old hybrid toyota/honda?
i really like the toyota auris 1.8HSD/honda jazz(fit) 1.4 CVT
They are quite expensive but they say both reliable cars in general.
But They are quite old now, in car years
2010-13 so 14-11 years old cars.
Absolutely not! Unless you have $20,000 to replace the batter that is guaranteed to be too old for a full charge. Scotty is being paid by Toyota to promote their products, but a used Prius is one of the riskiest purchases you can make, which is why he's paid to make 10 episodes a week about how great they are, despite bashing them for years before all of a sudden he loves them in every new video
I remember my stepdads friend had one est 20112012 needed battery gonna cost 5000 at that time
it only took him over 15 yrs to understand how good the toyota hybrids are but he finally did and that's a good sign of one's ability to learn and observe unbiasedly... we all should develop this ability
He's being paid to promote Toyota, there's a reason he's hated them for 15 years as a mechanic. But as a social media slut, he can't say no to Toyota now that they pay for his sunglasses 🕶️
We loved our 2010 Prius, but the piston rings gave out at 135,000 miles.
How many calendar years do you get on the hybrid battery? Are the 200,000+ miles run off in 10 years? What happens when one of these is 20+ years old?
I am about to install a remanufactured hybrid battery in my wires 2011 Prius. 330k miles on it...$1800 for battery installed
It's a common cab car where I live
Word has it that Scotty could trouble scan the entire world with his scan tool and fix global hunger.
What year is it?
A customer at my mechanic bought a used Prius and said he still runs it but the battery died at around 200k miles. Can anyone speak on how that is possible?
Still searching for a Prius v... Believe it or not it is my dream car.... I wish Toyota still made these.
It's Toyota's new car. Didn't you read the headline?
@@gdholmfirth did you watch the video ? They only made the Prius v for a few years. It's been discontinued quite a while ago.
My 2015 Prius has 415k miles. No oil leaks ever.
There’s a video by some Toyota master mechanic with a Prius prime 2019 with 330k miles and still on the original brakes. Car runs fine. Talk about longevity
Scotty still rocking the Summer of Love sunglasses in 2024
Would be nice if you address the issues of you throwing that Canadian parts company under the bus.....
I have a 2001 Corolla with a 5 speed, if I drive normal highway it gets over 40 MPG
From the 3rd generation Prius started using electric water pumps please change yours every 100K miles or so
I think he said that about a regular cvt this is a ecvt
cant wait for the cars prices to go up after this video
I have a GM car Scotty hates, a 2012 cruze, eco trim, with a 1.4 L turbo, a 6 speed manual transmission. The EPA rates 42 highway mpg, I am in Texas And I usually get 50 plus highway mpg. I paid $17,500 in 2012. Now the car has 76k miles. I would argue gas turbo is much easier to maintain than these hybrid system.😂
so many best used cars
14 year old Toyota Corolla here and all the original tire pressure batteries and sensors work! Original battery in key fab works!
New car??????
Toyotas are generally built better than just about anything else out there but I'm just not interested in hybrids or EVs even if they are built by Toyota. The only hybrids I like are locomotives. I would rather have a 30+ year old Chevy Sprint or Geo Metro with that wheezy three cylinder of course only if it was in decent condition. Those things are very basic but they were pretty reliable, easy to maintain, and you could get 50 mpg+ on the highway.
I'm the same way. I just don't have any faith in modern workers to have pride in anything from customer service to building cars.
The best solution for a gas saving car, is the manual transmission. Not a costy hybrid.
No. I love 3rd pedal but a MT can never match a hybrid for fuel efficiency. Now a manual/hybrid…. Now we’re talking 👌
Didn't many (all?) of these have the problematic 2ZR-FXE engine?
Looks like the cars from Demolition Man
Until you have to replace the batteries.
I occasionally drive a prius C for my job, personally I don't like how it feels to drive, it's kinda clunky when you accelerate from a standing start, this seams to be because the driving electric motor is trying to propel the vehicle whilst starting the engine at the same time. I also don't like how when your accelerating and trying to get it going the engine is always reving its head off, this is probably because of the CVT. Another pet hate is what's the point of EV mode if you can't drive it at more than I think it's 20mph/30kph before a warning flashes and says you can't drive it faster IN EV mode then it kicks you out of EV mode. Personally I'd wouldn't own one even if you gave it to me free! And don't get me started on the interior, the most uncomfortable car I've ever driven, and ive owned 10 cars in my 35 years of driving,(I drive 10 hours plus when I'm driving).
Sorry scotty, other than fir fuel economy, the prius c is pretty horrible car IMHO
These gen 3 Prius have head gasket issues…gen 2 is the ones you wanna get…just my two cents…
356,000 on my 2014, never any brake jobs, how much have i saved...thousands.
Original battery, engine replaced once at 298,000 with crate engine.
Paint job is fading...who cares, the A/C still blows jingle bells.
Never replaced brake pads? You are a danger to public safety
Wise to mainatin it, since the new has exactly the same technology. Only the exterior changes.
How much was the engine swap?
Your AC doesn't blow air?
I only drive solid axle 4x4s..
Evolve. Its ok.
Evolve. It's ok.
In my case buying that be useless cause well it would never make it out my driveway
My 2006 Prius had over 350k miles. After 285k the ABS pump burned out. Replaced it and barely even 50k miles later it burnt out again. Researching that generation, a defect in the wire harness was burning the pump out. I was willing to fix the car but it also had the issue starting at 250k miles were the dashboard wouldn't turn on. BUT over all amazing car, bought it for $3500 at 180k miles so I got my monies worth.
My dream car 😢😢
The industry has good shock absorbers to still hold up after so many shocks
Ah, new as in 8 years old.
Rather on the mediocre side they were ok but just get a real Prius
Scotty - have you ever heard about the 2007 Prius having a problem with the fuel tank exhaust system? Is replacing a fuel exhaust sensor or fuel exhaust filter expensive?
You should do a video how to clean egr on this
I thought you were sitting in the best car ever made on Tuesday's video??
The Church near Scotty is ringing the bell as well 🤣
As a long time Toyota employee I can tell you that most of those start burning oil at 120k and need a 6000 dollar rebuild
Typical source: “Trust me bro”
Is that this model specifically?
Right, Scotty. No one knows about the Toyota Prius.
Our favourite Punjabi Canadian cab driver's forever war horse
What the industry needs is more absorbers, since it has so many shoks.
not anymore you don.t. prices went up 10x 17 hours ago.
From so much shocking news you must suffer from high blood pressure 😂🤣
How much new , Scotty ? 🫣🤔
Just got out of factory 8 years ago
