I was Ed for Halloween last year, which is actually a extremely simple costume. An open green button shirt with a red & white striped shirt with blue jeans. I knew some people would recognize who I was, but I was genuinely surprised at the amount of people who right away knew I was Ed. Even a lot of young kids who were born after the show ended knew who I was dressed as. Truly an iconic show
I loved that episode, everyone basically became single minded about "Going Up". There was never an explanation to what Eddy meant, but nearly everyone got roped up in it
Ed Edd 'n Eddy was like The Three Stooges. All you need is an iconic duo or trio with personalities that bounce off each other, good chemistry and a kind of _magic_ where you can then put them into _any scenario_ and no matter what it is, they can make it funny. That was Ed, Edd n Eddy. It's also the cartooniest cartoon that ever cartooned. One of my favorite episodes, One Plus One equals Ed have the boys breaking the laws of reality of their own world. Whether it's removing Jimmy's outline or taking a bite out of the sun. The Eds truly could do ANYTHING they wanted and there's something so wonderful and hilarious about that. So carefree.

Weirdly enough, the message of the movie hit more close to home when I rewatched it recently. The fact that those you look up to, especially family, aren’t always good people. I remember watching the finale movie when it first aired and how big of an event it was. The end of an era, of a true icon in Cartoon Networks history of incredible shows
Never had I’ve ever felt any closer to the Ed-boys than anybody else. The Ed in me is a goofball, random, and thoughtful of other people. My Edd is smart, might go a little nuts over untidiness, and inventive. My Eddy is loud, sarcastic, and a leader. And we were all outcasts.
I also get what you mean in that Ed Edd 'n Eddy captured the best part of our childhood: *the summer* in a cul-de-sac. This is why the back-to-school seasons were much less memorable. You're not on an eternal summer vacation anymore, going outside to play or scheme without worrying about teachers or homework.
I really like the school episodes, since it wasn't really about them dealing with academic issues like studying or tests. It was just them dealing with average issues that are just at school.
Watching this was such a nostalgia trip. I'm going to be 20 in less then three months. And realizing that I watched this when I was like 9 and 10 takes me back to that time. When I was a kid who had no real worries. Not worrying about a job. Or finding a place of my own to live. Whether or not I should move to Canada or stay in the us. So many adult things that I couldn't even imagen while as a kid sitting to close to the tv watching Ed Edd n Eddy and Courage the Cowardly Dog, the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy I never thought of. Thanks for this reminder of how great my childhood really was
Ed: Sarah will tell mom and mom will tell dad and DAD WILL JUST SIT THERE AND WATCH TV Eddy: Think of it lumpy, monster movies, comic books, and all the gravy you can eat
This is like an ode to the Eds. Nicely done, man. I'm a huge fan of this show. I was 12 when it started back in 1999, which was the Eds' age too. I still watch the show every 5 years or so. It never gets old, you know?
I like this! I remember enjoying Ed, Edd n Eddy but not for any particular reason. As a quiet, unpopular, introverted pre-teen I probably related with these guys more than I realized.
@@basedmek The creator of Ed Edd n Eddy made adult cartoons and one of his friends dared him to make a show for kids, Ed Edd n Eddy was the result. it is the only cartoon he's ever made not aimed at adults.
God I miss this show, it was the best show especially when I was growing up. Even though it ended perfectly I wish they did one more episode showing how they grew up
I've watched every single episode of ed edd n eddy. That proves that it's been a huge part of my childhood. I still watch this show now as i did as a kid. It really aged greatly.
I'm glad EEnE "died" when it was it's time. It was a great show that didn't get dragged out too long. If only Spongebob (which I loved as a kid, RIP Stephen Hillenburg) stayed the same, but Nick's too greedy for money :(
Yeah, the big over the top fantastical shows like Fairly Oddparents andother shows are nice. But its enjoyable to just sit down and watch something simple, something grounded and telling basic slice of life stories. Sure EEnE had some over the top moments with the contraption and set pieces they made but they were always made from things you could find around you, rubber bands, card board boxes, sxrap metal from the nearby junk yard. They werent anything made put of materials no kid could ever have access too. And when there were moments like that it was shown to just be their imaginations.
@Scorch 215 To this day one of my top favorite episodes is the one where Ed believes he's a monster after watching too many movies and goes around kidnapping the other kids and blues them to his wall with chewed up chunky puffs. They actually made a somewhat believable horror episode out of almost nothing.
At this point it needs to be Blu Ray, DVD's get damaged too easily. I have the first two seasons on DVD and some of the episodes just won't play. And I take very good care of my discs
No other show hit as close to home as this one. Always loved the animation style, and so stories felt like something i was feeling at the time. I remember researching Danny Antonucci & i went so far as to do the “we’re not worthy” thing from Wayne’s World when i googled him. 29 years old now & i still remember those hot summer days stuck at home watching Ed Edd n Eddy marathons. I lived so far from my school & didnt have a lot of friends to begin with, so getting to grow up with the kids in the cul-de-sac always gave me a good laugh & warmed my heart.
I think the best things about the show is the fact that it immortalizes the childhoods of middle class kids that grew up in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. It was revolutionary at the time because most shows portrayed unrealistic childhoods that only kids with rich parents could ever have, while this portrayed everyday life for normal kids. Now we can look back and see a show that illustrates our childhood instead of just having the memories. In a way, these characters were our childhood friends that never grew up.
South Park actually was digital, or at least it has been after the first episode. Anyways, I've always felt that one of the strengths of Ed Edd n Eddy was that it didnt shy away from the idea that people, and especially kids, are unfair. Things didn't always work out the way the characters wanted, and it wasn't uncommon for the kids to be outright dickish to each other. This worked, though, because the kids themselves weren't always the best people, so you never felt too bad for them when things went south, yet they were still relatable enough that you could get invested in their stories. Basically, you were often going "Haha, yeah, people are like that sometimes" or "Haha, yeah, I've been there" more than anything. I always liked that this show wasn't afraid to show unfair and dickish behavior from the main cast, I think it made them more real.....well, in a sense, anyway. They are still exaggerated cartoons, after all.
As a kid, I took Ed, Edd n' Eddy for granted. It was almost always airing a new episode, or rerunning some phenomenal ones. A lot of shows back then didn't last an entire year, let alone several. There were so many episodes that were just so memorable, like Rolf's fish duel, or the Eds cutting up carpet and gluing it to their armpits to try and look grown up. Or the time machine, or the episode where they tried to make Jimmy into a sumo wrestler. Or the episode where Ed apparently saw Alien and acted like a xenomorph, hunting down the other kids and trapping them in his room with weird cereal stuff. Or when the rock got stuck in Ed's shoe, so he ate an entire slide. God, this show was absurd, but it was just so fun. Anybody remember the PS2 game the Eds had? I remember playing the part where Ed went all Godzilla over and over again, or the sci-fi Lost-In-Space part that took place in the junkyard. I get some real nostalgia remembering that game.
If my memory serves me correctly, in most of the episodes the trio see themselves in the middle of a situation without even knowing how they'd gotten there in the first place, and that, for me, is the beauty of this show. It totally relates to the way suburban kids played outdoors. Having been one of those, I remember that we would be doing somthing and, minutes later, we would be in a totally different situation or game without even realizing how that had happened.
Out of all the best shows out there, this was one of the shows that defined my childhood, period. These guys had always been with me all throughout and I would never missed a single episode each week. I'm glad this show ended on a satisfying conclusion.
To this day, I still love this show, and I had never thought of it as in depth as you explained in this video, which just makes me love it that much more.
I remember when the commercials for the show came out before Ed Edd & Eddy even aired little did that 11 year old me know that I was bein introduced to my favorite cartoon
As a teen, I watched it like insane, I was obsessed by it, and it led me to deviantart when I became an adult, then to fanfiction... Thank you Danny for giving us one of the best series for teen. I hope if I ever have some kids, they'd watch the show when they can understand it...
Even today, as a young adult, I still sometimes randomly quote lines from the show in everyday life. That's how big of an impact it had on my childhood.
This brought a smile to my face. Hearing you put into words what pretty much everyone that has watched this show felt definitely made me appreciate it even more. Thanks a bunch, dork! :)
I grew up with this show and could never really explain the feeling it gave me whenever it came on when I was younger. The way I described it would simply be, "The Ed's are my friends." What you said is spot on for me. I saw it less like watching strangers' situations and more like watching people that I know very well, and a big part of that really IS the way they were just...regular kids. Funnily enough, I was a huge fan of The Simpsons around the same time, too, and those earlier episodes were similar in idea to Ed, Edd n Eddy.
True words man. This is the truest video of ed edd n eddy breakdown that warms my soul knowingly to be apart of the era as a viewer of that golden time . Thank you.

"...didn't have to worry about getting grounded..."
"WHAT HAPPENED TO THE STAIRS?!"
It was only one season in school, and I always saw that as an epilogue
Paul Martin I mean with only 2 episodes I just consider those season 5
I really like the school episodes, since it wasn't really about them dealing with academic issues like studying or tests. It was just them dealing with average issues that are just at school.
Exactly.
I didnt enjoy the school series* as much for pretty much that reason.
When the escaped on the plane they were escaping a prison was hilarious.
Thanks for this reminder of how great my childhood really was
Ed: Sarah will tell mom and mom will tell dad and DAD WILL JUST SIT THERE AND WATCH TV
Eddy: Think of it lumpy, monster movies, comic books, and all the gravy you can eat
Ed: ITS TOTALLY WORTH IT DOUBLE D!!
It's "not now I just got home from work"
Wow. You absolutely nailed why Ed Edd n Eddy was, and still is my favorite cartoon
I gotta say this might be your best video to date. I remember watching this show everyday during the summers that it aired.
Somebody better show PhantomStrider this video. Not to get him to like the show, but get him to understand what a lot of people like about this show.
lol. who?

low-key, i needed this. I didn't have friends growing up and this show gave me evergrowing hope in humanity.
yikes, Im fuggin crying.
As a quiet, unpopular, introverted pre-teen I probably related with these guys more than I realized.
>tfw your best running cartoon was made by a dare
That honestly was one of the most amusing bits of trivia about the show.
What happened?
@@basedmek The creator of Ed Edd n Eddy made adult cartoons and one of his friends dared him to make a show for kids, Ed Edd n Eddy was the result. it is the only cartoon he's ever made not aimed at adults.
@@scorch2155 oh shit, never knew that! Thanks
If only Spongebob (which I loved as a kid, RIP Stephen Hillenburg) stayed the same, but Nick's too greedy for money :(
That's exactly what I thought! We should talk sometime 😊
"Too greedy for money"
Totally logical mate.
@@alexwells8893 Checks out
I heard that the first SpongeBob movie was originally supposed to be the series finale.
@@SuperSonicWarrior93 Yeah but would Nick be today without SpongeBob and wouldn't the lot of you miss the hell out of it
Ed Edd n Eddy is a lot like King of the Hill in some ways. It's probably why I love going back to them, they're not afraid to show everyday life.
😍
@Scorch 215
To this day one of my top favorite episodes is the one where Ed believes he's a monster after watching too many movies and goes around kidnapping the other kids and blues them to his wall with chewed up chunky puffs.
They actually made a somewhat believable horror episode out of almost nothing.
@@ZombieBarioth Yeah that was a super good Ed focused episode!
@@ZombieBarioth I laughed so hard I got sick from that episode. Geez, good memories.
I keep wondering why this series never got a full DVD release. I would buy it in a heartbeat
At this point it needs to be Blu Ray, DVD's get damaged too easily. I have the first two seasons on DVD and some of the episodes just won't play. And I take very good care of my discs
Season 1 was recently given a re-release. So maybe things will turn for the better. Hey you’ll never know:)
Waytotheland I saw that, would still prefer Blu Ray. Until Season 3 finally gets a physical release I’m not holding out hope just yet.
I actually got the full set, I believe my mother got it on amazon at the time. It does exist
GrimReaperGaming from the sound of it, you probably got a ripped copy. There was never an official released set past season 2
25 cents to see paradise.

“Open your eyes Kevin”
we’re in Ed’s paradise
No other show hit as close to home as this one. Always loved the animation style, and so stories felt like something i was feeling at the time. I remember researching Danny Antonucci & i went so far as to do the “we’re not worthy” thing from Wayne’s World when i googled him. 29 years old now & i still remember those hot summer days stuck at home watching Ed Edd n Eddy marathons. I lived so far from my school & didnt have a lot of friends to begin with, so getting to grow up with the kids in the cul-de-sac always gave me a good laugh & warmed my heart.
This reaffirms EEnE as my favorite cartoon show. It's been my favorite for a long time, but you put it into words I didn't have.
Ed Edd n Eddy and The Grim Adventures Of Billy & Mandy are my favorite CN shows of all time.
RadicalHedgehog I liked both, but I always deemed the Ed’s being the better of the two if I was told I could only see one
@Connor Boling Not like that is a bad thing. I like the other just a bit better, but they are both clearly good shows.
I give this vid two butter toast way up!
And on the real bro that was Beautiful. This changed my mood after work.
I only wish they'd name the movie;
"Ed, Edd n Eddy: The Peach Creek R-Ed-emption"
I think the best things about the show is the fact that it immortalizes the childhoods of middle class kids that grew up in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. It was revolutionary at the time because most shows portrayed unrealistic childhoods that only kids with rich parents could ever have, while this portrayed everyday life for normal kids. Now we can look back and see a show that illustrates our childhood instead of just having the memories. In a way, these characters were our childhood friends that never grew up.
"I can hear dorks! But I don't seeeeee dorks!"
GraViTyAboVe God Hates Dorks
"You weren't just laughing at yourself you were laughing at your friend who reminded you of Kevin."
SO TRUE
The music is so good too, its one of the reasons why I like Jazz
I miss this show. Great video guys!!
Man this was my favorite show as a kid, I remember wanting to live in that cul de sac and do all the shenanigans the Eds did. Great vid 👌
Out of all the best shows out there, this was one of the shows that defined my childhood, period. These guys had always been with me all throughout and I would never missed a single episode each week. I'm glad this show ended on a satisfying conclusion.
I didn’t expect to get emotional watching this video, this show was my childhood 🥺

To this day, I still love this show, and I had never thought of it as in depth as you explained in this video, which just makes me love it that much more.
I know this is probably weird to say, but this show was art to me. Everything just had meaning, sound, color, humor, and just felt alive.
I remember when the commercials for the show came out before Ed Edd & Eddy even aired
little did that 11 year old me know that I was bein introduced to my favorite cartoon
Ed, Edd, n Eddy has always been, and probably always will be my favorite cartoon.
Ed, Edd n Eddy's soundeffects are never talked about and it's one of the most underrated thing in the show
Heretic: I’ve never watched Ed, Edd, and Eddy.
Absolute CHAD: All it takes is 25 cents
I love Ed Edd n Eddy series. This was my pre-teen and late childhood.
Awesome video and great editing as always!
He is the son of the Shepard.
Ed Edd n Eddy will forever go down in history as one of the greatest cartoons to ever exist period.
I’ll never forget how perfect this show’s finale was
This brought a smile to my face.
Love Ed, Edd and Eddy
All time favourite. Those three where my closes friends when nobody else was
This was my favorite show as a child, and is still in my top 3 favorite cartoons.
It never fails to make me laugh, and I love that.

Genuinely the best show Cartoon Network put out in its lifespan, so much that you can see its influences on many shows today(whose creators grew up watching EEnE!)
If Cartoon Network wont release the DVD box set, I'll do what the Ed boys would've done: Make their own box set out of Cardboard and sell it for a quarter!
This was the very first video that got me started watch you channel I look at past all the mistake I've in my life and ever since then haven't regretted this decision since
One of the things I loved most about Ed Edd n' Eddy was its sound design. Reading through the comments section on this video, I found out that I'm not the only one who really loved the sound effects and how they were used, and that feels great to know.
