Great video! They messed up with the infotainment screen on the 2025 GTI/R. It's too big! Can't wait to see your thoughts on that. I'm fine with the little window in the front but I couldn't get it tinted like the rest of the windows because no human hand is small enough to apply the tint. I always thought that the small cubby was hard pointed for a manual e-brake that was ultimately never made. The car has grown on me but I'm happy with my mk7 for now.
I personally really like the screen, mainly because, for me, having navigation on a big screen like that makes it easier to see upcoming directions, without having to take my eyes off the road.
Great review! Not many mention about how good the ACC in Golf. But you did! I'm waiting for the facelift Golf MK8.5, hopefully it will be a good update to the current model
Look closely into it. My plan is to give my 2022 S trim to my son & I’ll get myself a different car in 2025. I was planning on another GTI, but I’m not really excited by the “facelift” because the plan is to integrate ChatGPT, and I’m not sure how I feel about that. Also, it’s going to have a larger screen that’s just slapped onto the dash versus being integrated. I personally prefer integrated screens. Finally, it seems they’re going to redesign the front. And I really like the current design. Anyway, I’m a little bummed about the changes. I’ll still consider it, but probably will end up the new Volvo CX30 - assuming it’s as good as it looks.
@@katiecannon8186 I’m a little disappointed by the update too. But hey, this is the last Golf ICE. So it’s now or never, at least for me. I never own a Golf before nor any performance car, so the MK8.5 would definitely be a fair choice. As for your comments, I mean it’s the same as other voice assistants, just that this integrate with ChatGPT. We can leave it as it is if you don’t want to use it. For the center infotainment, VW as a group need to use standardized their parts. So this is shared with new Tiguan, Passat and ID.7. From the review, it’s a robust system. We can customize the shortcuts and layouts like how we do for our phone. So no longer we have to look for something in the infotainment buried by 3-5 clicks vs current system in the MK8 Golf. I know it’s slightly big, but I would take bigger and better system than slow and buggy 😅 I wish they could put more effort to the interior, like having knobs/buttons for AC, physical drive mode and a better interior styling than current Golf overall. But it’s just a minor update to them, but yea that’s my take. If the price is right, I would take the new MK8.5
@@xyumomo Personally, I think I’ll look for a very low mileage 2024 when they begin releasing the 2025s. I’m actually very happy with the current infotainment system. The first year kinda sucked. But it’s mostly been ironed out now. Anyway, they’re absolutely great cars. I highly recommend GTIs of whatever year. You’ll love it.
I feel like the haptic buttons aren’t a deal breaker for me but not having a knob for volume control is the only one that’s frustrating. Also the climate controls are annoying and pretty distracting to use while driving. Other than that it’s a great car 👍🏼
The base S trim which comes with all of the safety features is one of the Best Buy’s going today. There’s even a few very low mileage 2023 for around $28,000 available right now. It’s a lot of car for that price. Really, there’s nothing else that competes with it.
At $40k+ for this thing, with its terrible interior? Not at all. Unfortunately, it is the only remaining hatch on the market in its price point. The Mazda CX-30 is better, the GLA is better
The problem w VW are their American VW dealers. Where are the dealers who are willing to Deal and do volume instead of trying to screw every customer and never generate volume or repeat customers. Don't load these up with options buyers don't want and that are just profit enhancers. VW screwed up the Passat sedan and has also done the same to GTI and Golf R with unwanted electronics and controls that are unnecessary and just run up the cost. VW should take over the dealer network and follow Tesla lead and let customers order direct. Too many stupid steering wheel buttons and please lose every slider on the center screen. Make sunroof optional.😢 $42k for a GTI is criminal.
We saw a dozen videos on the 2024 GTI and yours is the best. Very thorough and helpful. 👍
Wow. Thank you, Travis 🙏🏻 glad it was helpful
Just bought one and really don’t care about the plastic and piano black thing. This is the best car I have ever owned…and I traded a Mercedes for it!

I keep my glasses in that long “cubby”. So it’s pretty practical for me.
There you go!
I think you should do a 380 S and/or a S trim too, they are the biggest bang for buck.

You can coat the black plastic with either exterior or interior ceramic coating.
It helps a lot.

So much piano black. They really screwed that up big time. Interior is gonna age like milk.
I agree on the piano black. It’s a pet peeve of mine
Why won't they stop putting that piano finish plastic in cars? Everybody hates it.
Brother, your guess is as good as mine
Just bought my 2024 gti and that piano black interior plastic is my biggest complaint so far
It’s just the worst 😆😆

I need help with golf got 2024 I’m from Dubai I have one but line assistant not active
The Golf R is only 5k more. I'd fork over the extra cash as much as I love the gti, the golf r is superior in every way.
I love 7 speed auto
In Australia that car is over $60,000....Not worth it!!!!
Anyone here find the Harman Karden set up to sound a little flat?
you gotta play with it for a bit
At the end of the day, it’s a 42K VW. Really makes for a big pill to swallow.
Who the hell pays 50 grand (after markup and TTL) for a freaking 4cyl Golf. 60 grand will get you an RS3.
Those that like the golf more? Silly ass question if you ask me.
Question is who the hell would pay 10k extra for an rs3 when you can have a golf
It’s 35k
@@rainbowshulacorns3666 Which is why the title of this one says 42k right?

42k is value?
Terrible value.
$42k is a ripoff and the capacitive touch screens/sensors are abysmal. I wouldn't pay $1 over $34k for a fully loaded top trim GTI.
I love the style. Not a fan of the homeless look though.
🤔

So ridiculous that nowadays people want automatic sports cars. Complete joke.
