Great review! I like this ink and use it occasionally along with other sheening inks from Diamine such as Skull and Bones, Bloody Brexit, etc. They're fun to use in a spare pen occasionally, but one must be very careful with them as they demand respect! Thanks for the video! Well done!
This ink is the heaviest sheener I have used so far. It's a bit over the top and "high-maintenance" for everyday use for me, but I love having it in my roster. It's perfect on special occasions for cards to people who like blue. A couple warnings: if you use it on a shiny card paper (anything that has a bit of a coating on it), the ink will smear even after it seems to be dry. Also, anything with a strong sheen (in my experience) clings to the inside of a pen like crazy. Every time I think I've got it all out, I find a bit more colour coming out when I rinse again after a short soak. Pen flush is definitely helpful for cleaning high sheeners like Nitrogen. Despite it's drawbacks, it is still a lovely ink.
Organics Studio make a few high sheening inks (they're not the only ones, but they're well known for it). It's always good to have a fun ink available, even if it is high maintenance. And yeah, it's pretty impressive to use in greeting cards - as long as they'll work with FP ink. I think your cleaning experience is because the inks have to be really concentrated (heavy percentage of dye) in order to get that high sheening, so cleaning can take longer. Disassembly or soaking are good options. An ultrasonic cleaner would certainly speed things along. I know some people seem reluctant to use pen flush, but wow does it speed up breaking down ink! If time under the faucet and then a few flushes doesn't do it, I'm all for whatever it takes to get the process over with! 😂
@@EFNIR All points - very true. I have a few different Organics Studio inks and quite a few other sheening inks. I really like them, but typically not for day-to-day. I really like sheeners, although my favourite inks are the dichromatic/dual shading inks. I just wish I had dual shaders that were a bit wetter so they'd work better in my flex pen. I may find one yet. There's an ink for every occasion. 🙂
@@dragonabsurda 😊 Shaders are my favorites. I'm somewhat ambivalent about sheen - it's nice, but I don't feel compelled to have it. Shading, I can't live without. 😅 I wonder if the dichromatic shaders need to be dry in order to work - I mean, *something* has to cause the multiple dyes to not fully mix and higher surface tensions might help that... They're almost enough to make me want to study chemistry - but not quite. 🤣 Best wishes finding one that works well with your flex pen - if you don't find it, you could always experiment on small samples with either a flow aid, or a lubricant (like glycerine), or both... You might discover some secrets about chromashaders in the process!
Such a cool review. Thank you! I have often wondered how Nitrogen would look in an nib and I appreciate the insert in the video to show off the sheen. The super-sheener flakes that you mentioned in the Post Review notes is interesting. I don't think I have heard of it before 🤔
Thanks, Storge! 😊 You're very welcome. I've experienced those super-sheener flakes from every super-sheener ink I"ve used. A dry flaky crust forms around the threads of the vial / bottle and comes off as you unscrew. Try though you might to contain them, they seem to go *everywhere*.
@@EFNIR I got three blue inks (Taegeuk, Sky and Gaudi) and I like them, the whole Pierre Cardin "City Fantasy" line (15 inks) is great (though Sakura pink, Hayao green and Maldives blue are too pale for fine or dry nibs).
Very, very interesting review! I always stay away fron this high sheening ink, because I use only EF nibs, but this might be interesting in a cheap pen. Thank you 🙂
You're most welcome, Hans! The only problem I've had with high sheening inks in my EF nib is that they can dry fast on the nib, so you either have to keep writing, or you might need to help them get started again. (Well, and all the flakes of ink, but that's from the rim of the container, not really from the pen.)
@@EFNIR Thank you for your nice reply! And the flakes - I weekly clean my desk with much water, the last time the water was green, but I have refilled my green-only pen months ago. Inks are always an adventure 🙂
@@hansspiegl8684 🤣 Indeed, inks are an adventure. I cleaned the kitchen counter after inking this ink - even though I didn't see any flakes or spills - I knew they would be there. Then, three weeks later, after cleaning up before food prep (with cats, you clean before and after food prep), lo and behold, there was another blue smear! It's like it was on the ceiling, just waiting to drop down on the counter and surprise me! 🤪

This one reminds me of Pierre Cardin Taegeuk Blue (also a bright blue but with more teal/marine undertone and lots of sheen).
:googles:💻 Oh, yes, they do look quite similar. Thank you for the introduction. We don't seem to hear much about Pierre Cardin inks in the US. 🤔
