    I had an original version and had 2 issues. When posted the top would wobble very slightly, secure enough that it would not drop off but enough to annoy me. Also when I carried it in my pocket for any extended time it would leak enough that i would have ink stained fingers after writing. I gave it away in the end to someone who would just keep it on their desk. So Im still looking for that perfect pocket pen for everyday carry.

      Same issues here. The significant leak was a deal breaker to use it as a pocket pen EDC. Switched to the Quark and Dinky - no leakage so far (+6 months of daily carry, possibly aided by the tip-up carry thanks to its smaller diameter, making it fit nicely in my Leatherman sheath)
      To be clear: the issues mentioned are with the older models. Not the redesigned featured here. I sincerely hope the new design has covered improved on that front too, because the pen ergos are great.

      Is the nib used on these pens - the Ultra Flex Titanium nib ?

      @@pen.venture Hi Emy! The logical question - I should have checked (or remembered) that.. My bad. I'm at work now, but will come back on that potentially obvious cause asap.

    Kaweco does have that converter in their shop as accesoiry and they do ship worldwide so I guess it is not a big problem, only shipping costs might be a bit high for a single person.

    My titanium is 2 turns to uncap and I had to remove the o-ring as it was creating suction and ink kept leaking out the feed. Love the way Ben just told me to remove the o-ring when it's supposed to be there and great how my pen kept leaking anyway. I hope the customer service is better with Emy and I have no doubt it will be. The #8 nib I have and pen design is superb (although I hate the sharp points on the cap/barrel ends) but the fact I have a pocket pen that is supposed to be carried and could leak is not. I would never trust my pen in a bag, never mind a pocket. However, when it isn't leaking I actually enjoy it. There is no delrin inside the titanium cap which I like also. He makes some very good pens and this move to Pen Venture will see the customer service side of things get the lift it needed as Ben's brand is well worthy of selling more, he just couldn't keep up with everything I don't feel. 😄👍🏻

      O-rings! No!

      It wouldn't take much for customer service to be better. I had great initial experiences with Gravitas so got a more expensive pen right before Ben went dark. After the merger I reached out and got no love, and some nasty feedback from Ben when I called him out. I wouldn't touch a Gravitas pen with a twenty foot pole, especially since I have an expensive pen with poorly machined threads that leaks and dries out no matter what I do. I wish him well, but I don't trust anything he's involved with.

    I really love my Gravitas Pocket in pultruded Carbon Fiber with the ebonite feeder. BTW I’m using the Kaweco converter with my Namisu Nova Pocket. Otherwise only cartridges would fit. With the Gravitas Pocket a "normal" small Kaweco Sport converter works very well.

    Seems like a couple of flexes of the nib & that tiny converter would go dry pretty quick.

      The cartridge holds more which is how I normally run it. Thought I would try the converter for a little bit

    Good to know they are improving things. I have an old version. The grip on that one doesn't work for me at all. Way to slippery in the lateral direction because the groves. I fixed it by using a steel brush.

    I picked up the original in the TINSX coating. I was disappointed because it scratched off the very first time I posted it.

    1. O-rings make me nervous - they wear out, right? And ADDING o-rings suggest that the design is lacking. But I'm not an engineer.
    2. 73g? I would like to add my warning to Doodlebud's: that is a seriously overweighted pen. I'm a big guy and I got rid of a pen weighing a mere 55g because it felt too heavy. Use rubberbands to attach nickels to an existing pen to bring its weight up to 73g to make SURE you are woman or man enough to handle it before buying untested. Or go aluminum.
    3. Thanks for the show.

    Very nice updates to the pen. I see that the pen is also made completely with delrin. I would imagine the weight would be significantly less.
    I am also looking for a new black ink. I know you like the Ultra Black. Is it quick drying as I am left handed?

    Ohhh, that delrin cap liner is everything. I had the universe finish, but disliked that it got scratched from posting twice so sold it on to someone who didn't mind... Once there is an updated universe pocket pen I am absolutely picking it up again.

    I still love my aluminum Gravitas Pocket that I got a few months back. The front weighted SS section feels so good in the hand and it indeed came with the added o-ring installed. Outside of the delrin and shorter amount of turns to uncap it, I still prefer the original. It's really too bad that even though the updated model is a little bigger, you still can't fit the fully extended plunger converters!

    How does your year old pen body not have a ton of posting scratches LOL. Mine looks terrible but its still a solid EDC.

  • @takakimiphi
    @takakimiphi 14 часов назад

    since it posts more deeply now compared to the previous versions, do you still find it well-balanced despite the added weight?
    gonna hope they make a version in black titanium because 73g sounds way too heavy for my liking lol

    Did the body have a delrin interior as well? That would allow for eyedroppering.

    • @danielklopp7007
      @danielklopp7007 15 часов назад +1

      Since this pen is in stainless steel, you can safely eyedropper. I have the original Gravitas Pocket and have had it eyedroppered for over 2 years with no corrosion issues. I believe Ben uses 304 stainless which is not quite as corrosion resistant as 316 stainless, however the 304 has held up well to continuous exposure to Diamine Oxblood. When you hear the pronouncement, "don't eyedropper metal pens", please remember not all metals are the same. Specifically, aluminum and brass are not very corrosion resistant, however most grades of stainless steel (specifically 316) along with titanium are extremely corrosion resistant. I also have an Ensso pocket pen in titanium which has been eyedroppered for about 3 years now (Noodler's Zhivago) with no ill effects.

      It has not a delving sleeve in the barrel - it's only for the cap.

    • @danielklopp7007
      @danielklopp7007 13 часов назад

      @@pen.venture I think you meant "Delrin" (not "delving"). Delrin is a trade-name (hence the upper-case first letter) for acetal homopolymer (i.e. a specific type of thermoplastic).
