Coming back to this one, I noticed in May it will be yet another 2 years since the Sand Scorcher has been out...Time is going past so fast for me... will have to plan another epic journey, grease the bearing on the trailer etc...see you soon :-)
Awesome video excellent truck trailer and buggy. Wicked crawling getting down to the beach and back out wicked beach blast with the buggy
Thank you friend.. I am still planning to repeat this, the tracks may not exist anymore.. the location is subject to huge weather erosion.. cheers
What a nice movie !!
I like it
without a doubt one of the most satisfying videos ever posted. thanks for that..
Thanks for your kind words, this video is one of my favourites also..

enjoyed the video candy! thanks for taking the time to make the video for us all to enjoy....
Thank you my friend :-)
How can you not watch to the end? Absolutely great run, all 3 parts of it!!!
Thank you, you are so kind :-)
Cool trek to the ocean. Man, some rough terrain....you lose one, you lose them all! Good stuff!
Thanks, rough terrain - yes - great for playing in :-) I did have to carry the unit over some terrain, where I could not drive. I still have not found a complete driving route to the beach that includes this Goat Track..
joliousvideous Yeah, I can imagine it would be tough to find a clear path down. Endless runs in every direction though. And I like the Scorcher! It's been a while since I've run mine...may need to follow in your footsteps.
Where is that trailer from?? It’s really nice!
Made the trailer myself, - out of 3mm and 4mm fencing wire, and gutter guard.
That whole setup is so amazing looking mate, Love the cruiser with those big fat wheels and that blue on the bug is incredible!
Man there was some treacherous driving here, especially with that trailer behind.
Fantastic video Geoff
Thanks Jax - glad you enjoyed it :-)

Thank you Team Austria :-)
Great job! That was an epic journey!
Thanks..apologies for making it so long... glad you enjoyed it :-)
2:07 TLR for life! lol
Cheers Craig, thanks for your comment..
Another great vid. I was cringing while it was going over the rocks because one slip would have sent truck, trailer and Sand Scorcher crashing down causing untold damage. Thanks goodness you kept them upright. Anyway, I enjoyed this and it's given me idea's about different ways to use the GoPro on a pole so thanks :-)
Thanks Peter... I have a new GoPro pole now...made myself better balanced, steadycam like, hopefully will reduce those wobbles I sometimes get when I am tired.
Sounds good. Mine is a mop handle and I just hold it upright with the Gopro at the bottom but I think I need to make something a bit better !
Yes I had a piece of PVC pressure pipe..but holding out for too long gets tiring...now with the new one all I have to do is support the weight, the GoPro has a counter weight so that it is sits naturally in the correct position, and upright as well...you may begin to see more level horizons, although I do straighten up a lot in post. :-)
That sounds like a better idea. I might have a go at something similar. What I do with the rc wheel radio is to use it one handed with a finger on the trigger as normal and my thumb to steer rather than my other hand which has got the GoPro stick in it. It's a bit awkward. Have you found a better method ?
No...That is exactly what I do :-)
Fantastic video, cool cars!
Thanks man, appreciate it :-)
It was a pleasure watching "to the end" :) Nice - 3 adventures in one - 1st was going down to the beach - very gutsy driving there :) well done - then the Sand Scorcher bashing - good stuff on 2WD :) then the drive back - dangerous and treacherous!! |I know your local council man there - want me to put in a word for you for a better road? lol
Thanks Joe..I have a "Behind the scenes" video to put up in the next few days, there were some scary moments particularly when you have no hands free..I am glad you watched to the end, I was in 2 minds whether to split this up into 3 videos or not. The road (walking track) is spectacular as it is, I suggest don't mention it to your man on the council... lol :-)
joliousvideous Ok ok I won't mention anything .. will cost you though hahaha :) Thanks for sharing - good thing you left it as one video - at least that is my opinion :)
Thankyou :-)
Man, I never seen anyone do some crawling with a trailer. I think this is awesome! I don't get enough of this, wow! Great camera work. Where did ya get that trailer? I gotta have one. Keep more of these videos coming. Man this is awesome. That trailer is so cool.
Thank you for your kind words..sorry I didn't reply earlier...I do sometimes miss some comments. The trailer is my own build and design taken from my memory of a mates 1:1 trailer when I went navigating for him in an Off Road racing buggy...back in the year of 1981. IT is made up of mostly 3mm & 4mm fencing wire and gutter guard mesh..
Great! It is a very real and powerful video.
Thank you my friend..
very very cool
Thank You my friend
cool video thumbs up sand scorcher on the beach awesome what video editing software are you using
Thanks CC - I would have spent more time on the beach but the sun was casting my shadow all over the place making it difficult to stay out of shot. Premier Pro CS6 - and I am learning new things on it every day..
Great video. Brilliant sound. Is that an onboard sound box or dubbed sound for the diesel engine of the Toyota? Lovely shade of blue on the SS too. Is it Tamiya Mica blue?
Thanks for your kind comment - Audio sync is dubbed from a Hilux diesel engine. The colour is a Mica Blue, but is a standard acrylic Auto Touch up Paint
This is awesome! love the sound effects, must of taken a lot of work to film and edit
Yes indeed, this is one of my favourites, I enjoy the whole process - probably more so the editing :-) Thanks for your kind words. I am long overdue for another run like this with the Sand Scorcher .. this was my last run with the SS... over 5 years ago... I can't believe how time flies by!.. I have only just discovered your channel.. I love your videos as well.. cheers Geoff
@@joliousvideous looking forward to seeing what you come up with for you're next run
Top top.Comment ta fait la peinture blue de ton Sand Scorcher ?
White spray base, then masked off, metallic blue spray . I think colours were Auto- touchup paint.
Como fizeste o azul metalizado do teu Sand Scorcher ?
I think you are asking about the colour? .. I think it is a Tamiya Metallic Blue - but it could've been an Auto- touch up paint. Sorry I can't be more specific it was 5 years ago. Thanks
Geoff
Tanks men
Do you still have these vehicles and what did you do to the suspension system of the cro one I see it's different?
Thanks for the sub... yes I still have these vehicles...The CR01 stock suspension is very convoluted cantilever set up.. I was looking to simplify it.. and look more standard... I kept the original springs, ditched the cantilever shock system and set some standard looking shock in place. The barwork is all steel and heavy so the double spring setup works..
Hey great video :) I love me some scale goodness. One of the better videos out there! Curious, do you use a gimbal on your gopro? Thanks for sharing! keep it up.
Thanks for looking at my videos and commenting, means a lot .. No gimbal on this one - a PVC pole, high frame rate shooting and slowing down helps with the shake. I bought a gimbal a couple of months ago...Sep-2017.. and the only videos shot with a gimbal so far was the Toyota 70's series where it was a learning curve for me...
ok thanks for the tip! I will go look at the gimbal shot video. thanks for the sub as well.
Nice vid bro!
Thanks Man !
Who sells the rims for the saints scorcher that you have on it?
Not sure... At the time of building I search all the regular USA hobby stores for Sand Scorcher Hop Parts... Also got onto a Tamiya store site which had some useful items as well... don't know if still available.. I always seem to be behind the trend on these things and find myself getting last units available... Right now looking for Yeti 1/10 parts.. THanks for dropping by .. :-)
@@joliousvideous you're welcome you ever thought of getting all the other variants of the sand scorcher chassis believe it or not I think the other two or at least one of them the one with the monoshock is actually coming back the one with the money shop one is coming back this year also I think that one has a longer wheelbase on the same chassis the rough Rider might too but I don't know.
awesome video, those sound effects were amazing, were they from spintires? ;)
Thanks Man, I have Spintires but no the sound effects were heavily modified snippets taken from various videos of real life sources.. My video timeline looks like a patchwork quilt, using up to 6 audio tracks in some scenes.
