Hi everyone! This week I've experienced a slump, and challenging myself to do a reset. I thought it's worth sharing my feelings and I'm wondering how you get out of feeling stuck?
I live by myself but I put up lots of decorations for Xmas and Halloween. It always makes me feel better. The Xmas ones make it feel super cozy cause I also have a small fake fireplace.
I’m an introvert so I need those alone times to recharge! Movement like the gym, running, or pilates always make me feel more recharged! Love that plaid, western shirt on you!
I totally get that - recharging is super important! I'm pretty much in hibernation mode atm - but I'm trying to move more - it definitely lifts my mood. 😊 Thanks - my shirt makes me feel smarter somehow!
Thanks for sharing your Slump - glad you are emerging now. I recommend making paper devs - loads of snowflakes all round your room can't help but make you happy ☺☺☺
Thank you so much for the kind words! 😊 I’m much better, thank you! I’m definitely feeling inspired to get crafty! - and appreciating the small things that make me happy! Take care, Fran
Yes it’s a slump after the high of travelling! I live alone too and Christmas season is difficult But yes you’ve got to decorate and the tree looks great 👍 Get out and see your friends- you know what the saying is- when a man tires of London- 🤩🥳😊
You read my mind! It’s really obvious when you get some perspective and clarity! Thanks for the grounding advice-living alone can definitely create a mini echo chamber, so I really appreciate it! All the best, Fran 🤩🥳😊
Hi Michelle! Sending hugs back from London to Florida - I'm feeling better this week! Thank for the encouragement. All the best for this week! Fran 🩵🩵🩵
Adding seasonal decorations definitely help with SAD. I'm forcing myself to put up my Christmas decor this year since last year I didn't. But what's the point of having them if their not used right. And so you know, you're not alone. You have all of us to keep you company!! Thank you for inviting me into your space!! 😊🥰🎄
I love this community and the support! Thank you for your lovely words. I feel so much better making my little bubble positive and fun. Sending you good vibes and energy. I'm already breaking free from this wobble. Big love 🥰
I just love the aesthetic of your videos, your style and cute apartment! Playing music in my room and dancing helps me in a slump, as well as cooking, crafting, walks! Lately I’ve been sewing Xmas decorations for family as presents to switch my focus on others rather than myself. It always helps me to just accept the slump phase like you are, and think what do I actually WANT to do vs what I SHOULD be doing which takes the pressure off, so I think you’re doing the right thing riding it through with acceptance. Love the minimal decorations too! I prefer a small humble Christmas vibe and only have a few wooden snowflake decorations I like to hang. Looking forward to the next vid, take care.
Thank you so much for the lovely words and tips! 😊 I’m glad you're enjoying the videos. Dancing has really helped shift my mood too-thanks for inspiring me! Sounds like we're on the same vibe with our decor-I’m embracing the small and little things this year as well! Take care and enjoy your week! Fran
Hi Fran. I hope you’re feeling better. I was in Australia for 6 weeks visiting family and spending time with mum (96 yo). When I came back to Spain I hit a major slump. I just missed being with family and cried every time I thought of mum because as soon as I came back she was admitted to hospital for 3 weeks ( she’s OK now). I have a cat and 2 dogs, so I had to wake up early every morning and do the chores, cleaning the litter box, washing their bowls, changing the water, walking the dogs, feeding them. For 2 weeks after coming back I did not see anybody or talk to anybody other than my sister in Oz to see how mum was doing. I had to push myself to go back to art class and my volunteering (I’m retired). It is so much easier to cut myself off from everybody, but that’s also my character, I’m a lazy, miserable *ugger. Going back to my day to day is still hard 2 months after coming back. I didn’t mean to tell you my life story, just to let you know that I understand.
I’m feeling much better now, thank you! And thanks for your lovely message-it really means a lot. I’m glad your mum’s doing better, and I appreciate you sharing your story. Sometimes I get stuck in my own little bubble, so hearing your perspective really helps. It’s been a push, but I’ve been moving forward too. Getting back into a routine after traveling is super tricky - I’m definitely still figuring it out! Sending you positive energy to you this week! ❤
I have a little tree that goes up starting in the fall and stays up (rotating decorations) through the end of January! I don't have a lot of decor because I don't have a lot of storage, so I have a couple main focal points that get the festive treatment. I also love switching out the shower curtain seasonally. A noticeable change in a space that doesn't usually get much decoration, and doesn't take up a ton of space.
Just listen to your body and rest GUILT-FREE ❤ I was in a slump one year ago too. It’s also getting into the winter cold so retreat yourself to an hibernation mode 💤
You’re right-listening to my body and making it guilt-free is what I need to do. Though sometimes my mind likes to play tricks! Booo! I’m feeling much better now, and I really appreciate your encouragement. Retreating really is a good thing to do! 💛 Take care, Fran
I always go through a holiday comedown as I call it. Don’t worry it will pass. You will get used to the change in environment and get back into your routine soon x p.s I was watching a documentary of these mountain climbers and they were wearing your boots! 😊
It was definitely part holiday comedown! 😊 I’m feeling much better now-thank you for the support! My routine is getting back on track and I feel stronger. Ha! Those boots are pretty iconic-lol! Have a great week! Fran
I'm feelin' ya Fran. I'm in Pdx and the weather, while currently not too rainy, is very cloudy. Fall is my favorite time of year, but it would be nice if the sun would make an appearance once in awhile, lol. I came back from a two week vacay last month in sunny Utah and part of me just wants to keep on traveling, seeing new places. But, I do like the quiet and peace. Trying to remind myself how precious peace can be, and not to take that for granted. Think I'll venture out more and walk in new neighborhoods. Just got a book that shows where to walk in my city.
Thanks for your wise words of encouragement! I’m definitely someone who gets affected by the weather! I’m feeling much better, thank you-and gaining more perspective. Here’s to appreciating my space and my environment! I'm ready for it 😊 All the best and have a lovely week! Fran
I was thinking about you and was meaning to reach out and then I forgot to 🥹 I was missing you and hoping you were ok. I have similar symptoms as yourself. I appreciate your effort to still vlog and upload. Makes me not feel so alone. Take care of yourself and Self Love Fran. Much Love 🥰
Thank you so much for your thoughtful message-it really means a lot. ❤️ I’m doing much better-focusing on gratitude and staying positive. Take care of yourself too, and here’s to a little more self-love for both of us. Much love right back to you! 🥰
Hi Fran. Happy that you're out of your little slump 🥰. Your soup looked delicious, I'd have loved a bowl of that 😋 Itadakimasu!. I play my favourite music and dance in my kitchen to lift my spirits (I'm a 66yr old with arthritic knees and a hip replacement, it's not that easy 😂). Let's do our best! Always cheering for you. 💋
Thank you so much for your kind words! 🥰 I had plenty of soup to share-so I’ll save you a bowl next time! 🍲💛 Dancing is such a good idea-though my moves might give the neighbours a fright! 😂 I really appreciate the support, and I’m feeling so much better this week. ✨ Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!
I love the dragon - he was my favourite -it just had to be a Welsh dragon when I saw it! 🏴🐉 Sending lots of good vibes your way, and I’ll do my best to convince my friend to make a cameo in a video! Take care, Fran ❤
My slump-busters are 15 minutes morning Qigong (QiYoga With Lu Chin), writing down three Reasons To Be Cheerful, and gradually shifting to wholefood eating; your soup looks amazing - prompting me to make some this weekend, and I have a few wrinkly parsnips to go in too. No traditional Christmas decs here, just a big Chinese vase painted with falling snow and two sparrows on bare frozen branches; I've filled it with fronds of fake pussy willow, and it takes center stage from December until the first signs of real pussy willow appear! You could try improving your bedtime routine, Fran. I have a reminder on my watch for when to start winding down, and actually being IN your bed at roughly the same time may help your sleep health! Every day is a chance for a fresh start - baby steps, small wins!!
Hi Vicky! Thanks so much for the tips and advice-they’ve been super helpful! I’ve started my mornings with gratitude, and it’s made such a difference. I’m feeling much better now, though! I hope your soup turned out amazing-mmm parsnips!! Wishing you a lovely week ahead! ❤

Fran, get some paint markers, or shiny fine decorative tape for those tiny baubles. Less messy, more control. 👍
Many thanks! I already bought the paints - but thankfully they had nibbed tips - so I had a little more control. 👍
