It’s hard in a capitalist society to maintain a low clutter lifestyle so dont beat yourself up if it’s hard at first. We’re constantly being advertised to and pressured to buy the latest and greatest thing. If you can just become more aware of your spending habits, really take stock of the things you’re getting rid of now, and try to tailor your shopping going forward. If you’re holding onto sentimental things, maybe find a way to display those things or organize them so they’re not taking up a lot of space. It’s okay to hold onto some things 😊

yeah, in theory it's smart and responsible to sell, donate, pass things to friends. in reality, it takes sooo much time, effort and space to keep until it'll finally leave the house. and it feels like no progress in a small apartment cause I've just organized stuff instead of cleaning it out and making actual space. tbh, sometimes it helps to unload oneself from guilt and just throw things away.
OMG - I really feel this!!! It may come as no surprise that I've still got a decluttering hangover of items that need to be sold, and sent! I feel a part 2 coming - lols! Thanks for your comment and all the best! Fran
I have been watching decluttering/cleaning videos trying to get motivated and I have been finding them all so annoying. I told my husband that I just wanted someone real to watch. You are exactly who I didn’t know I needed. The algorithm finally got it right! No more skinny women cleaning their perfect homes in their skimpy Lululemon outfits. 😅
Haha, this made me chuckle! 😂 So glad the algorithm connected us-thank you for the kind words! Here’s to finding motivation in our own, perfectly imperfect (aka normal!) ways! 💪🌟
As someone who has been on their decluttering journey for about 4 years - I’m almost out the other side and it’s a reflex to get rid of the things which no longer serve me. You got this!
I'm so glad to hear this - I know the journey is long - a lot of rewiring old habits! Grateful for the support and all the best for your journey too! 😊

Hands down THE most enjoyable & honest decluttering video I’ve ever seen…and I’ve seen a ton of them. Francis! You’re wonderful!! I hope your channel is a huge success. 🎉

Dana K White has a lot of vids on No mess decluttering. It's been so helpful for me to be able to get distracted or need to stop at any time and it's not complete chaos.
😂 I love that you say look it's crap, crap and more crap... I too have loads of crap that I need to sort out. We become collectors of items, some are what we need and a lot of what we have does not serve a purpose. ❤
What I’ve learnt about decluttering is allowing yourself to have a maybe pile. You don’t have to get rid of everything straight away. For years I had a huge box of old clothes I no longer wear or fit but wasn’t ready to say goodbye. Anyway, long story short, I’ve now got down to one plastic box which gets topped up when I’m ready to let them go. I’m trying to be more thoughtful in what I buy, quality items and filling my home with sentimental items instead of niknaks
I love the idea of a 'maybe pile' 😊-I was a bit ruthless with my decluttering, but it’s definitely worth having a grey zone for some items. And I completely get the quality-over-quantity approach when it comes to clothes. I used to be all about fast fashion, but now I focus on the material and longevity of each piece. Thanks for sharing your experience, and all the best! Fran
The algo decided to bless me with this INCREDIBLY RELATABLE video, I love your extremely human vibe and very "normal person" struggles LOL... Ugh, there's just so MANY and I'd have to take so many pictures showing their condition and aaaarrrggh! Anyway, felt seen IMMEDIATELY and I am definitely subscribing.
Thanks for the kind words! I really appreciate them. The collectible conundrum is a definite thing! HA! I just did a small amount on eBay, it went well! All the best and have a great day. 😀

What an honest approach! This is my second weekend decluttering a totally stuffed utility room. But it's worse than just stuffed. It's been getting damp from the laundry and because it was so cluttered there has been no air circulation and I was too ashamed to open the curtains (people walk right past) so there was mould and frowstiness as well as intense dust that has stuck to everything because the dryer makes the dust and the damp sticks it to things!!! It was horrible in there. But it's getting better. I've hopefully killed the mould with vinegar and will clean the window and surrounding area tomorrow. Then the manky curtains are going into the sack for the tip and I have some pretty window film to provide a bit of privacy but make it look so much nicer for the neighbour who over-looks us. I've been through one large cupboard and sorted it to be the cleaning supplies cupboard forever more (I could not find anything so I bought more and now I have a cleaning supplies shop in my utility). And it's all listed on the back of the doors so that I know where things are and how many of them I have. Now I'm onto a huge cupboard that we treated like a storage unit. 1 shelf is empty. 1 is 2/3 empty now. There's a shelf below and then the bottom area with tool boxes etc. I'm starting Sunday with a tip run to take all the rubbish I have ready. Then I will be finishing that huge cupboard and I hope the area next to it. The car will be packed up for the tip again on Monday morning. Already I have almost all the floor space back. It's wonderful. This is the accumulation of 28 years worth of stuff getting shoved into a big space with doors on it. Bad idea! Won't be keeping stuff like this again. It's been depressing and I didn't even realise it. I've already done a lot of my clothes. Next up will be a large linen cupboard and after that the spare bedroom. OMG! Thank you for the laughs and the inspiration to just keep ploughing through it. Can't wait to get to the washing the walls and floor stage.
Wow, you're absolutely smashing it! 😲 Honestly, I’m in awe of your determination-that’s no small feat! You've really taken control of the mission. Sending all the good vibes your way! It’s so inspiring to hear how far you've come. I didn’t dare showcase my bathroom because, well, it’s not fit for public eyes either-haha! Maybe I’ll tackle it one day. Just imagine how amazing it’ll feel when we're all done. 💪❤️ All the best, Fran
Just found you in my recommended videos and I love your vibe! Real, chill, and with a bit of humor sprinkled in! The way you talk matches my inner dialogue and I’m here for it. Also, I’m a little over a year out of leaving my 18 year career in higher ed administration for a switch to massage therapy and living solo in a small, cluttered home. I think I’m finally ready to start my own decluttering journey 😅
Thank you so much for the kind words - I'm really happy to hear the video resonates with you. 🙏 Honestly, I'm just figuring it all out too, so we're definitely in this together. 😅 And massage therapy - what a great pivot! I did a foundation course in Swedish massage, so I can understand the positivity it has for people! All the best on your journey - sounds great! 😊
I love your authenticity, and it's also great to see a British ESEA creator on here. Soo enjoying your sharing the chaos and being unafraid to embrace it (from a fellow chaotic BESEA creative) ❤
The algorithm brought me here and I'm subscriber number 501 😊. This is very real, relatable and entertaining. I also sold tons of collectors stuff and decluttered (it takes ages by the way). Leave all your cards and sentimental stuff till last. I've still not done mine... I will get to them one day.
It is emotional but you get better at letting go and only keeping the super important stuff. I too have rediscovered precious photos, letters and cards. But, I have gotten rid of all the rubbish that overwhelmed my space, therefore giving my 'treasures' the opportunity to breathe and shine once more. I am getting better at not allowing junk to enter my space too PS your dad's leather jacket looks amazing ❤
Thanks! Yes decluttering is such a mental and physical process - so many memories. I'm glad you're getting through it too - It's such a great thing to do! All the best! ❤ Fran
You seem like a loving, honest and funny person and I'm here for the vibe! Decluttering is kind of a livestyle, you are never finished with it. Cause cloathing etc gets old and used, you change as a person and you consume and use up things. The point I'm trying to make: Dont put too much presure on you to "get it done" and be done with it. Start with the obvious things like expired medicine and work your way up to sentimental things. It gets easier with time, I promise! Take care😊
Thank you so much for your kind words-so lovely to have you here! I really appreciate the advice-it’s definitely a mindset shift to understand what we truly need. ✨ I’m still working through it, but it feels great to have started my decluttering journey. Take care and all the best, Fran 😊😊😊
Than you, whatever algorithm gods out there for putting this video onto my page because it is hands-down the best declutteting video I have ever seen. (I blame Bossa Nova Man.) (Also, I may or may not have audibly gasped at the mention of Vanessa...) Nice work! I find putting on all the corny music I know the lyrics to and singing very loudly helps with the bubbling nostalgia.
Thank you for the feedback! Bossa Nova man is my hero haha! FYI I'm clutching Vanessa as we speak - not sure if I can let her go just yet. ;-P Keep singing and take care!
Howdy Angela! and thank you for your lovely words. I was in Scotland earlier this year - one of my favourite places in the world. All the best and take care xx ❤
If something is shoved in a closet or under your bed you probably don't use them. Take pictures of all the sentimental things. It is the momory of the events, not the physical item. You are moving forward, it is a good thing. Great job.
He’s still very young so decluttering is more difficult. I’m in my 70s so it’s much easier to have the mindset to get rid of everything with no regrets!
I've just starting doing some massive decluttering in our house! My plan is 1,000 items it's scary to think I might have that much stuff to get rid of!!!!
The 1962 wool coat you tried on, has Swedish marking on it (the 3 crowns). I think its an army jacket. Couldn't read the name inside, Lidengrens maybe?
@@FraanLee Yes I believe the name is Widengrens (from what I can see on the video anyway). It looks like a classic label that would be seen in vintage men's clothing in Sweden (and probably elsewhere) with the font and everything. After doing some more digging and detective work, I found that Widengren's business originated in a place called Vingåker in the Swedish region Södermanland in the 1870s. The region was back then apparently well known for its textile industry. Per Widengren seems to have been a bit of a pioneer back in the day as he decided to make clothes that were not tailored. In those days it would have been common for people to go to a tailor and have clothes tailor-made for them. But Widengren decided to make clothes in various sizes that he could stock and sell later (basically what we have now). His business grew and went from a more or less home-based business to a textile factory in the late 1930's. I didn't find any information about Widengren specifically making military clothing but considering his background and the history of his career in the textile industry it would probably make sense. I'm guessing the buttons also have 3 crowns on them 😎 I love the fact that an old military coat from Sweden has ended up in London 😊
@@soulexplorer76 Wow, I'm genuinely blown away by all this knowledge! 😲 I had no idea the jacket had such a rich history behind it. I’ll definitely wear it with pride this winter-it’ll keep me warm and cozy! Thank you for all the detective work - seriously - just WOW!!!; it really adds so much meaning to the piece! Thank you so much!😊
😅 l totally relate to hiding junk and having doom piles, doom bags and doom boxes. Even "hiding" crap behind the door 😂. Decisions are hard lol. Ive been trying to minimise and declutter for years, l think untreated ADHD doesnt help. Good luck on your sorting ❤
Haha, I feel you on the 'doom piles' HAHA!! 😂 What sorcery is this that we conjure! It sounds like you’re doing great-tackling it bit by bit is definitely the way to go. Wishing you good luck too-we’ve got this! ❤️
My name is also Francis, nickname Fran and I am also decluttering😅. I am gaining so much more from getting rid of stuff. And oh yeah and living in London. I wish I could hire you, to help me set up my business😊
Omg what's with all the Frans around this channel?!? 🤓 My name is the feminine French version of Francis (Françoise) although I'm not too keen on the nickname Fran for myself (even though I did use it as part of usernames in the early days of the internet...). I don't live in London but have family from there. And I'm also trying to declutter 😎 Not going great though... 😕Hence the need for inspiring decluttering videos. This one was very enjoyable 👍🏻🙏🏻🌺
😆 I'm a big Disney fan - I started with an Aladdin doll and then got hooked - But I have nowhere to display them - and now they take so much space. I'm still in the process of selling them - so I might showcase some of them in the vlogs! Watch this space and take care, Fran
we all have to start somewhere. :) mine started with an apt flood while i was gone for a weekend. followed by a baby rat my cat brought in and didnt kill. i didnt know for 2 months. not a fun way to declutter.
Like in the Cat Stevens song: the first cut is the deepest. Yeah, stuff is like problems, you know it's there. Keep the classy coat. It's great. By the way, I love your (British?) accent. And your breaks. So much realistic than these fancy huge house's declutterings. Maybe a narrow shoe rack ? I think Ikea...
Many thanks! I'm surprised how much stuff we can collect - I'm aiming to be better! There's a lot of rewiring of habits. Hope you're well and thanks for the comment! :)
I hope to see more declutter updates from you, my first time watching you ,you deserve a peaceful place. I feel you really need that right now. Keep going, the lunar eclipse is coming up. The emotions are heavy. You got this! It will all be worth it in the end. I’m decluttering with you!🫶🏻🩵🌸✨

Oh please give us more of this!! I absolutely love your style and humor. I was so disappointed when the video was over. 😂
Thank you for your kind words! 😂 'Always look on the bright side of life' is my mantra. Take care and have a great one! Fran
And massage therapy - what a great pivot! I did a foundation course in Swedish massage, so I can understand the positivity it has for people! All the best on your journey - sounds great! 😊
i love watching decluttering journeys as im in the same boat. would love seeing more of this content from your channel :)
Many thanks! Good luck with your journey! Fran
Please make this into a series!
I will try my best! 🙌
New subscriber - looove your vibe! From a fellow Londoner x
Thank you! I'm always about the good vibes! Cheers neighbour!!! 😉
Wonderful video! Decluttering is one of my favorite hobbies. I'm headed toward extreme minimalism.
Thanks for this! Super happy for your extreme minimalism - what an achievement and inspiration!
All the best! Fran
I love your authenticity, and it's also great to see a British ESEA creator on here. Soo enjoying your sharing the chaos and being unafraid to embrace it (from a fellow chaotic BESEA creative) ❤
Thank you for your kind words - it's also great to meet another BESEA creative. We know that chaos is part of the magic ✨✨✨ All the best! Fran
Thank you for being here! Much appreciated. Decluttering is such a journey - but I’m here for it! Best of luck - sounds like you’re on your way! 🙌
I learned a lot about decluttering from Dana K White who does declutter without making a mess. When I don’t gave help her method is what I needed.
Also, only if something was worth like $50 or more did I sell. Too much hassle and time.
Thanks for the tip! Much appreciated! 😊
Totally!!!I spent too much time selling something for less than $15! eBay took most of it too! Thanks and all the best, Fran
It is emotional but you get better at letting go and only keeping the super important stuff. I too have rediscovered precious photos, letters and cards. But, I have gotten rid of all the rubbish that overwhelmed my space, therefore giving my 'treasures' the opportunity to breathe and shine once more. I am getting better at not allowing junk to enter my space too
PS your dad's leather jacket looks amazing ❤
I’m still working through it, but it feels great to have started my decluttering journey.
Take care and all the best, Fran 😊😊😊
Than you, whatever algorithm gods out there for putting this video onto my page because it is hands-down the best declutteting video I have ever seen. (I blame Bossa Nova Man.) (Also, I may or may not have audibly gasped at the mention of Vanessa...)
Nice work! I find putting on all the corny music I know the lyrics to and singing very loudly helps with the bubbling nostalgia.
Thank you for the feedback! Bossa Nova man is my hero haha! FYI I'm clutching Vanessa as we speak - not sure if I can let her go just yet. ;-P
Keep singing and take care!
We loved your intro! So relaxing :)
Thank you so much! I’m trying to set a nice mood! 😅 sending best wishes to you both! 🙌
otoh im envious you have generous storage but also can relate to the mental weight of hidden clutter
Hidden clutter is the worst! I’m an expert magician at it 🧙♂️ wishing you mental lightness in your decluttering journey!
Howdy 😊
Just found your channel.
Love your vibe ❤
Angela from Scotland xxxxx
Howdy Angela! and thank you for your lovely words. I was in Scotland earlier this year - one of my favourite places in the world. All the best and take care xx ❤
If something is shoved in a closet or under your bed you probably don't use them. Take pictures of all the sentimental things. It is the momory of the events, not the physical item. You are moving forward, it is a good thing. Great job.
This is soooo true - so many forgotten things around the place that I don't need. Many thanks for the support and all the best to you too!
Such a fun video! I just subbed! I love all your angles in your video ❤
Many thanks! I’m trying my best and aiming to improve. Hope you’re doing well today! 🙌
All the best with your decluttering journey! You have a plan! I love it! 🙌
Love the video
Many thanks! All the best!
Hi from SW Florida 🌞Happily subscribed to support you & your channel ✨️
Thank you for the support! A big wave from London to SW Florida! 🌞🌞🌞 So lovely to connect. Wishing you all the best, Fran
@@FraanLee Happy to connect with you also✨️ Have a lovely week☺️
That swedish coat will keep you warm for the rest of your life. 😊
You're right! The Swedish coat is top quality and craftsmanship - it'll definitely keep me warm. I'm very glad I'm keeping it! 😊
That green coat really suits you! Great video. New subscriber here! 😊
Thank you for subbing! I'm super glad I kept the coat too. All the best! :)
You can do this. ❤
Thank you so much - I'm getting there! Take care, Fran ❤
The 1962 wool coat you tried on, has Swedish marking on it (the 3 crowns). I think its an army jacket. Couldn't read the name inside, Lidengrens maybe?
Wow! I love detective work - great job! It says Widengrens inside?! Many thanks for spotting the jacket.
Yes, looks like a military overcoat. I think the name is Widengrens 😊
Thanks for clarifying the name! It seems to be a valuable coat as I would expect from such vintage military coat. 😊
I'm guessing the buttons also have 3 crowns on them 😎
I love the fact that an old military coat from Sweden has ended up in London 😊
@@soulexplorer76 Wow, I'm genuinely blown away by all this knowledge! 😲 I had no idea the jacket had such a rich history behind it. I’ll definitely wear it with pride this winter-it’ll keep me warm and cozy! Thank you for all the detective work - seriously - just WOW!!!; it really adds so much meaning to the piece! Thank you so much!😊
i have the same problem, I truly hate putting stuff on ebay. At times I even tossed perfectly sellable stuff out because I couldn't be bothered.
It can be overwhelming - but I just sold my first items yesterday! I hadn't used eBay for over 8 years, and it's definitely improved a lot! Good luck!
Ravij is great also !! He has great ideas and design!!
He's great! Thanks for the recommendation!
Nice to meet you twin friend Francis - Ha! I hope your decluttering went well! It's so good to get it all sorted. All the best, the other Fran 😊
Just found your channel and I love it❤❤
You're welcome! Take care and have a great day! ❤
You have such a pleasant voice.
🤭
So relatable 😅❤
Thank you! All the best! ❤
He is so charming and chaotic when he's hung over.
Ha! Thank you! 🤣😵💫🤣
That dark coat with the three stars is a Swedish military coat. 🙂
Thanks for the detective work - I love this coat - and I'm so glad to keep it! Cheers! Fran
Just found your videos. I subscribed.
I found you too! Take care and have a wonderful day. 😊
You are doing fine
I want to see more of your Disney collection! How did you get into it?
😆 I'm a big Disney fan - I started with an Aladdin doll and then got hooked - But I have nowhere to display them - and now they take so much space.
I'm still in the process of selling them - so I might showcase some of them in the vlogs!
Watch this space and take care, Fran
I love your accent so much
Thank you! Ha! You can thank the North-West of England for that! 😄
You are great
Many thanks for your support!
we all have to start somewhere. :) mine started with an apt flood while i was gone for a weekend. followed by a baby rat my cat brought in and didnt kill. i didnt know for 2 months. not a fun way to declutter.
Wow! That’s a very interesting situation! I had an unfortunate one with flies - don’t ask - but I think yours still tops me! Ha! All the best! 🙌
❤❤❤
Back at'cha! ❤❤❤
Remember! If it's not a "HELL YES!"... it's a NO! (declutter it!)
Love this!!!! Such a simple rule! 🙌
Love you
Love you too! :)
Well...thats not the accent i expected when i opened up this decluttering story. So, i ashamed of myself. A good lesson in expectations.
I come in a variety of accents and multiple languages too - lols! Thanks for being here and take care. Fran
I'm curious how much the Disney dolls sell for?
Not the usual decluttering video, but I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts and insights! :)
Thanks! The Disney dolls sell for various amounts, depending on the character - I'm curious too! Take care!
Where will you be selling your doll collection on ? Amazing collection
I'll be using eBay! Still trying to figure out the packaging - they're soooo big! 😅 Take care
Your inspiring me !!Something new !! I am working on the same !!
Good luck with your journey! It's a great feeling!
Please don't sue me but I'm going to steal higeldy-pigeldy!!!
😅😂🤣
A cease and desist has been issued to your lawyers. See you in court! 😅😂🤣

Hehehe. Well actually, you sound like you have a good sense of humour, so it would have been cool to meet you.
✌️😁
If you can donate your violins to a children in need of them, that would be helpful to them because instruments can be really expensive.
I did that. Donated 3 sizes of violin to a music school😅
Post them for $1 each and be done. Your time trying to sell is more valuable than the junk.
Funny, this is what happens when I clean out a room
Ha! We're twinning! Take care, F
I hope to see more declutter updates from you, my first time watching you ,you deserve a peaceful place. I feel you really need that right now. Keep going, the lunar eclipse is coming up. The emotions are heavy. You got this! It will all be worth it in the end. I’m decluttering with you!🫶🏻🩵🌸✨
Thank you so much for your kind words. A love the idea of a 'peaceful place' - and that's now my goal. Take care and all the best, Fran
😁
The first five minutes give ADHD vibes. Commenting for a friend. 🐿️
Love it! Ha! 🙌
Love your T-Shirt. Deets please. Back to watching 😊
Thank you so much for watching! I’m glad you like the T-shirt-it's from a Japanese brand called Kapital. Enjoy the rest of the video! 😊💖
Sir, you are in no position to be giving advice about hoarding when you yourself are a hoarder. GET RID OF YOUR STUFF.
...or perhaps a hoarder is the very person to give advice, as they know the very real difficulties some people have in parting with things...?
@@vickyharris5244 Nope, the psychology says that's incorrect.
@@NopeNopeNopetyNope That's interesting. I'm intrigued to know the recommended method as I keep getting stuck with my late partner's bit & bobs. Could you point me in the right direction pls? (Sorry for high-jacking your thread Fran...)
