This farm nearly cost me my hardcore world when I tried to follow this guide 1. You don't need fences (waste of xp and drops) 2. You don't need fence gates (simply unnecessary) 3. You do not need signs to put water in the ceiling (with water I had more than 10 - 13 spiders just chilling in the water up there but without water, there were only 2 - 3 which eventually fell, tested for 30 mins each) 4. Spider spawner range is 16 blocks so you don't necessarily need to be 7-8 blocks away as the spawner works best the closer you are All 4 of the above lowers the efficiency by more than double when everything is applied Hope this helps everyone ❤ Edit: you can try adding the new Savanah mob armadillo at the top of the ceiling to prevent spiders from climbing and getting stuck there as they scare spiders

delete the fence posts, just leave it blocks. change the half slabs on top of hoppers to signs, this keeps the loot from getting stuck. add a second hald slab above the hopper or change the half slabs above to blocks, this will stop them from hurting you. Enjoy!
my only issue with the farm is that sometimes experience or drops get stuck on the fences for some reason, not sure if it's an issue with the farm itself or did something wrong
Yeah, I think he needs to redesign it, I got tired of getting items/xp stuck so I replaced the fences with trap doors and traded the positions of the other trap doors for the slabs, dug down two places where you stand so I can look up and kill the spiders, seems to work out.
My recommendation to help fix the efficiency of the farm (For 1.21.1 Java) 2:47 You don't have to dig 8 blocks deep to make a killing room, it's better to stick close to the farm for faster spawning and draw more aggro of the spiders from my experience. You can just dig 3 to 4 blocks away from the wooden gates so the stream of the water can push more against the spiders and items towards you. 3:11 You can replace these 3 fences with 3 ice blocks (the kinds of ice blocks don't really matter but I used packed ice for mine), it helps with sliding the spiders and items be pushed faster towards you thanks to the water. If you use fences, it will make items and xp drop in between the spaces and waste them. Any normal solid block would work but ice would be the more recommended part of it! You will still pick up items from your close proximities of the spiders so i'd have a filled inventory for this. I hope this helps and sorry for any grammar and spelling mistakes, english is not my first language. These tweaks to the farm was made from a lot of trial and error, i was also killed once by poison trying to fix this farm lol.
The reason I have the spiders go farther away because if you put it at the distance you want some spiders will still be inside the spawners radius lowering the amount of spider spawning each time, you can do it that way if you want but then you get less spiders through AFKing
i am unsure what the water at the top of the room is for. built in Java 1.21.4 and my farm stopped working cause the spiders got stuck above the signs and not perishing. I also changed out the fence posts for solid blocks cause loot kept getting stuck on them
I just want to check something before I waste my time… I found 2 spider spawners that are within 32 blocks of each other in my hardcore world and my plan is to build this spawner design but with a bubble elevator on both instead of the chests that link up to a central killing chamber in between the two spawners. Would this work?
@@Solow19 Sorry its not haha i tried it but the lava lights up the area so spiders despawn, however if you put an armadillo in the roof somewhere, they wont go up there
@@jokubas-oz5lv they're not necessary for the farm. You can simply place the solid blocks above the hoppers and it works the same, if not better (in my experience). Also, if u want to speed up the farming, place a block above your head and have lots of food. Then jump while swinging and it cuts 3 swings per spider to 2 bc of crit damage.
