Zabbix : Convert MIBs Files to Zabbix Templates

MIB files can be analysed and converted to Zabbix templates containing Items, Discovery Rules and Value Types.
One script for doing this is called mib2zabbix and can be downloaded from github.com/cavaliercoder/mib2....
Before running this script, you should already have the required SNMP dependencies installed and configured correctly.
I do not offer support, guarantees or warranty of this script.
The skills required are very specialised.

What if the manufacturer gives you a few different versions of the MIB file? For example, one MIB for network and switching functions, one for QoS functions, one for Wireless functions, etc?

There is no one solution for everything. It is always going to be a job that you need to spend many days trying to resolve. Or you can pay someone to do it.

Hello,
i have a MIB of a vendor AETHRA but i cannot import , i have an errorr Smartmatch is experimental at ./mib2zabbix line 475.
Use of uninitialized value $val in string ne at /usr/share/perl5/XML/Simple.pm line 924.
can you help me? if you want i can pass you mib file

I managed to create one. I got the warning, but it still created the template.
You can download it from

I created this using mib2zabbix on a RPi4, Raspbian OS. And it imported into Zabbix 5.2 ok. I don't have this Aethra device so I cant verify how well the template actually works.
Note that creating templates is not easy, there is no magic for everything, you will need to put more work into this yourself if you want it better.
The command I used was
snmptranslate -Tz -m ./AETHRA-MIB | ./mib2zabbix -o 1.3.6.1.4.1.7745 -f template-aethra-mib.xml -N aethra-mib

Hi, thank you so mucho for this tutorial. I followed everything on the video :) But i get an error on every snmp agent item that says: 'No Such Object available on this agent at this OID'. Have you had this error before? if you could help me i'll be very grateful.
