    possibly, you may have to file it or cut it shorter if its to long like the i used in this video. but don't over file it, you don't want it fitting loose, or it can rock back and forth and mess up the slots on the clutch or crank. thanks for watching!!!

  • @fnaguitarplayer9

    you can get them online from tewarehouse or pats small engine, they all have a variety to fit shaft sizes and chain sizes along with pulley/belt driven instead of chain. Average price around 30 - 40 dollars.thanks for watching!!!

  • @fnaguitarplayer9
    @fnaguitarplayer9  12 лет назад +3

    i'm uploading a video right now on a 5 horse i just bought. they use a 3/4" bore clutch, chain size depends on your go kart/mini bike's sprocket. thanks for watching!!!

    Thanks for the quick and easy explanation. Hate it when it takes 10+ minutes of video explanation and shameless product placement to find out what goes where in the last 2 seconds of it. This was perfect.

    you can install them either way, sometimes you have to if your go kart/mini bike is offset or doesn't line up. most clutch manufacturers say whether you can reverse them or not. not sure. Thanks for Watching!!!

  • @fnaguitarplayer9
    @fnaguitarplayer9  11 лет назад +1

    just depends on your bike/go kart. If you put the clutch on with the sprocket outwards and the chain is crooked, than it will need to go the other way. The one in this video came from napa but you can get them online cheaper at tulsaenginewarehouse they sale them for about 30 bucks. I recommend max torq brand. thanks for watching!!!

    i can't remember right off hand what size bolt it is, but it will vary on different engines, and no it doesn't come with the clutch, the 2 set screws do but thats it. any hardware store will carry the bolt you need. thanks for watching!

  • @taboo243
    @taboo243 12 лет назад +1

    it also smoked before i lubbed it up it probably isn't lined up rite thanks for your info. it really helped!

  • @fnaguitarplayer9
    @fnaguitarplayer9  12 лет назад +1

    @taboo243 your not supposed to lube it any, thats what it was oil got into the pads and it started slipping and overheated, and probably burnt it up. Also if you run a go kart/mini bike in grass, they will wear out sooner. also make sure your rear axle isn't locked up, that would cause it to slip and get hot too. And if the chain is out of line it could be rubbing the clutch heating it up. hope this helps. thanks for watching.

    Thanks for the info. your video albeit for a kart has helped me with replacing an engine on a lawn spiker which has the pulley system.

  • @fnaguitarplayer9
    @fnaguitarplayer9  11 лет назад

    it can, but on this one it was really tight and i was trying to make the video as short as possible, you can work with it and get all the way over if you need it. thanks for watching!!!

  • @fnaguitarplayer9
    @fnaguitarplayer9  11 лет назад

    you can use a 3 jaw puller (get it from auto parts stores like advance or auto zone, or even harbor freight) to get it off. Thanks for Watching!!!

    sounds like the spring(s) may have broke or came loose, or it may have a bad bearing, seems odd though with a new clutch. thanks for watching!!!

  • @fnaguitarplayer9

    sometimes they will get stuck on the shaft, you will have to use a puller on it. thanks for watching!!!

    Thanks man, simple straight to the point, idk where these other people are getting these fancy nice naks an crap for the clutch I'm not lookin for allat, just this,

  • @fnaguitarplayer9
    @fnaguitarplayer9  11 лет назад

    not to argue, but, if you don't use the 2 set screws the clutch can move on the crank, the only purpose of them is to keep it in place. You are 100% right about the keyway being to long, I didn't cut it off in this case, just because i was only making this video, no point in wasting a keyway if it wasn't going to be used. thanks for watching!!!

    @MyNoah23 haha well i guess it just depends, you could try lightly sanding on the sides of the keyway to get it to go in easier. thanks for watching!

  • @fnaguitarplayer9
    @fnaguitarplayer9  11 лет назад

    you usually have to use a puller to get them off, they can be a pain. thanks for watching!!!

  • @fnaguitarplayer9
    @fnaguitarplayer9  11 лет назад

    thanks! Yes they do sale belt drive centrifugal clutches, look online, tulsa engine warehouse sales them. I think a pulley/belt set up would be easier to do, maybe not as durable since belts wear faster than chains. only problem with welding one is, it is almost if not impossible to get it centered without a wobble, unless you have a lathe or milling machine to do it accurately on. thanks for watching!!!

  • @fnaguitarplayer9
    @fnaguitarplayer9  11 лет назад

    I haven't seen one yet that doesn't, unless its been cut off. you can use a shaft collar instead, it would serve the same purpose. thanks for watching!!!

    @george2011k so its kind of just wedged on there? get a gear puller and use that to pull it off then put it on again. if the clutch is engaged all the time, the springs might have broke inside it. Might need a new clutch. i will take a look at it. thanks for watching and i hope that helps.

    I have a 127cc Briggs & Stratton engine on my GoKart just recently bought the same clutch but newer. It fit the rotator but the rotator doesn't have a hole to screw in to tighten it down and I'm noticing even with the old clutch and the new one it would just slide off the rotator since nothing is actually keeping it in place what can I do to prevent it from sliding off the rotator?

    thanks, yeah these china engines uses a 5/16-24 thread bolt, it does vary on some engines, i can't remember what briggs is, might be the same thing. (its actually called a crankshaft) Thanks for watching!!!

  • @MyNoah23
    @MyNoah23 12 лет назад +1

    How did that keyway go in the crankshaft so easy? I had to take a pair of pliers to get mine in!

  • @fnaguitarplayer9
    @fnaguitarplayer9  12 лет назад +1

    don't do it! Several reasons, first of all you will ruin the crankshaft and will never be able to tear the engine down unless you cut the shaft. and it would be impossible to start it safely, and to stop, it would always be moving. So yeah, i don't recommend doing that! you can get a clutch for about 27 bucks at tulsa engine warehouse, there good too! hope this helps, thanks for watching!!!

    @seelder4 yes it can be a problem, if the keyway is not the right size it will not lock on the shaft and could slip and score / scratch the crankshaft. I always try to respond ASAP.

  • @fnaguitarplayer9

    this particular engine uses a 5/16-24 thread bolt (for the side bolt that goes in the crank), the 2 set screws, i'm not sure what size they are. The bolt that goes in the crank does vary by engine, the manual on your engine should say. thanks for watching!!!

    @hanssLA well kind of hard to answer, you can't go by the number of teeth, thats the same as diameter of a pulley, it don't matter. if your working on a mini bike then its usually a #35 or #41 same for a go kart. you can take the clutch or sprocket to a place that sales chain and they can tell you what you have for sure. i hope you understand, if i had in my hand i could probaly tell you what it is, even you had a picture or video it still wouldn't help. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching!

    @Abven9 not all are the same, 3/4" is the standard for briggs and tecumseh engines around 5 horse power, just depends, some smaller engine use 5/8" shaft, bigger ones go up to 1 1/4 on riding mower engines. And when buying the clutches you refer to the hole as the bore of the clutch. Thanks for watching!!!

  • @fnaguitarplayer9
    @fnaguitarplayer9  14 лет назад

    @sonayvaio if you mean the bolt on the end of the crankshaft, harborfreight's website says 5/16" - 24 threads, should be able to find it any hardware store or lowes. your welcome, and thanks

  • @fnaguitarplayer9

    the model type and code is on the flywheel shroud usually on the front over top of where the spark plug is, or there is a metal tag on it.

  • @fnaguitarplayer9
    @fnaguitarplayer9  12 лет назад

    @f00bert24 usually when they smoke the clutch is slipping, and what usually causes that is running in grass or oil getting on the pads and making it slip, or a stiff/seized up rear axle. Also another thing the engine could be to much horsepower for the clutch, the rating has to match up. hope this helps, thanks for watching.

    @94hambone Hi. It should be either a 1/4-28 or a 5/16-24 bolt size (machine thread). As fas as i know it should be 1 of the 2, if not just buy a size bigger and smaller of that and try it. Hope that helps you. Thanks for watching.

    @CamoPeng its a standard 1/8" keyway. it should be the same for a honda, as this is a copy of a GX200 honda, parts are interchangable between the 2. but i think the smaller ones (like 140 and 160) have a smaller crankshaft, can't say for sure. thanks for watching

    What size sprocket is that also where did you buy that clutch? My predator 212cc 3/4" shaft has a key male end and every cintrifugal clutch i could find was keyed small not really fitting that hole like you think it would

    • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  5 лет назад

      Not sure of the sprocket size its a standard clutch so probably geared to be in the mid range i'd say, i will find out. It came from NAPA along time ago, its a max-torque brand i do know that. It should have a standard keyway, the engine in the video is a greyhound 6.5hp, basically the same as a predator 212. Thanks for Watching!!!

    I don't really know what would be causing it but one way that should work to fix is it use some blue loctite on it, that stuff will keep anything from working loose! I can't really think of anything that would cause that unless the keyway or keyway slot is worn some and there is some slop in it, making it work loose. Thanks for Watching!

    @seelder4 well then just try to get the keyway on far enough so the screw clamps it, it shouldn't matter if its shorter, but it would be more apt to shear though. I'd recommend buying a longer key, it'd be better to have one that is too long than not long enough. no problem

I would think the 2 set screws would hold it in place, i can't guarantee it though, and i would put loctite on them in that case just so they wouldn't work loose. thats really abotu the only choice you would have, unless you tour the motor down and took the crankshart to a machine shop and had it drilled/tapped. @briggsfixer2 any bolt that will fit it, theres not much stress on it because its just keeping the clutch from sliding off. so yeah just any ole bolt will work lol

    @HyeJroc yes and no. they work the same, it depends on the make. i have a homelite electric start weedeater, all the clutch is 2 metal disc like pads shaped like 2 C's back to back and it's metal agaist metal on the clutch drum, which sucks! some of them may be just like this not really sure. i hate workin on weedeaters LOL

    @fnaguitarplayer9 also, if your engine is to much horsepower for the clutch, it could be overworking the clutch, the horsepower has to match up on engine and clutch.

    To make sure you get the exact one you need take your engine to one of the bigger napa parts stores. One where they have two stories for example that have thousands upon thousands of parts in it. Then tell them you need a keyway that fits the taper, then you should be good.
