The video was helpful to help to remove the filter, but, the comment in the video to press and turn like a chilld-proof lead was incaccurate. Not necessary to press at all. The trick was a good grip and enough force. A right tool (e.g. wide enough wrench) can help just to improve the leverage initially, and then (after seeing how it works) you might be able to open with your hands. There is a learning curve, not addressed in the manual. We unanimously concluded that the filter removal was poorly engineered (to the point you start thinking it this part is defective).

Good work Abt electronics. This process wasn't straight forward. I sell these vacuums and I was gonna make a video to post but saw yours. Two tips. One you mentioned is that it takes a bit of effort to unlock the filter. You turn it clockwise but it takes a bit of effort. The other tip not mentioned in this video is to lightly bang the fine dust filter against a trash can or if have another vacuum use that to suck the stubborn fine dust away from the filter. A clogged dust filter is the #1 reason this vacuum would stop performing well. Thank you Abt.

Just adding another comment. Thank you for this video, I was going mad. I already own the first model and the simple LIFT of the fine dust filter with a much better designed part to grip is so much easier. It is under product care here in Australia because of a broken clip between dust canister and suction tube but I know they will just throw it to the tip and give me my credit, so I will be asking to keep it and continue vacuuming with a piece of masking tape around the tube and canister to hold together. But the main reason for me keeping is for the battery and the fact that the brand new HX2 I struggled with for an hour with to open the fine dust canister, is too powerful for 2 rugs in my home (even on min speed), whereas the HX1 does them wonderfully. Anyway, I just wanted to comment that the main reason this fine dust canister is so hard to open is because the grooves to put your fingers in, are not deep enough. I have very weak wrists and struggled until I must have just got it at the right position. I then redid it 5 times until it loosened up and I knew exactly how to continue doing it. Apparently I have been told this vacuum is being discontinued and I found it hard to find a store that had one in stock. Which is why I had to buy from another store and not use my product care to have it replaced from the store I got my first one from, they have taken it off their product catalogue. I also chose this vacuum because of my wrists and I can not use any other sort that has the heavier part sitting up at the handle. The option to have the heaviest part down the bottom with this one has been a godsend. All this vacuum needs is a much better designed dirt removal system and it is perfection.

Perhaps they have redesigned the top that needs to be turned clockwise to unlock the (white) filter because I just purchased in Ontario, Canada (perhaps the North American version is different from another region's?) a TriFlex HX2 Pro and it was trivial to get the filter out, almost too easy. I just had to turn the top piece clockwise and it pops right out. Just as simple to put it back in with a counter clockwise twist. I was getting scared reading all the comments about how difficult it was to open but it was effortless.

I bought this after getting frustrated with my Dyson not quite picking all the dog fur, despite being their Animal Control version. Although this Miele does a much better job of vacuuming, Dyson's design to dump and clean the cannister is far simpler and quite effective. My other frustration with Miele vacuum products (I also have Miele cannister vacuum) is the small bag & cannister capacity for dirt/fur/stuff vacuumed up. America is dealing with serious dirt, Miele!!!! Evidently more so than the European market.

@CarolAnn61 One of the hardest parts is finding the right grip on the canister and the top of the filter. You'll need to push down harder than you might think on the top as your twisting it clockwise. Once you're able to get the filter out a couple times it loosens up a little which makes it easier for future cleanings.

We've had 2 of these vacs and BOTH HAVE FAILED. The square drive that rotates the brush roller always strips and this is very bad design fault. If using plastic (as Miele do) it should be much larger to withstand the friction of the brush on carpets. Or, if they still want to use such a small drive dog to spin the brush, it must be made of metal, perhaps aluminum.
