Pam, I talk out loud for myself, like you, all the time. Even when alone. Sometimes, it's the most intelligent conversation I have all day!
Thank you!!!
I do the same thing and now I feel like I’m not as crazy as I thought I was!!
Me too! Whether anyone is around or not..LOL! My family already thinks I'm crazy because I'm always rescuing things from going out to the trash. Yay for free crafting materials, right?!?
I have a tip for you for moving the sewing machine. Get one of those cheap clear plastic cutting boards from the dollar store. Put your machine on it, and it acts like a silicone glide to help your machine scoot where ever you want it to go! You can cut it to size with regular scissors.
Loved this project! I so enjoy watching you! The projects are so great but even if I am having a not so good day, you always make me laugh! You are so awesome Pam!
Hi Carole K! I am so happy you are out there! :) Pam :) !!
I was actually going to say this myself! It's not even the project sometimes, it's just Pam cracking me up!
I agree, Pam is just so much fun and real. There are times I get behind so I'll beng watch The Paper Out Post. Lol Thanks Pam for all the great ideas/projects and for just being you!
One of the things I really like about your videos is that you're so precise in explaining everything, especially the small incidental tips. The kind of traps one will always run into when making a journal. I don't know how many times I've goofed while doing a book. So seeing that you share these kinds of goofs makes me feel Iike I'm not the only one who goofs. Grin
Goof is my middle name:) Its just another opportunity to learn something new :) Never let a goof throw you off course :) Simply try a new strategy :) Sometimes you end up with something even better! :0)
Really love this idea, thank you so much for sharing, Good Morning Sonny, you to have a great day along with mommy an daddy. 🤗😊😎🌞🌻🐾🐾🐾
I think journaling should be called 'what to do when it doesn't go to plan'. I love the way you have a solution to every problem
We are crafters, we invent something out of nothing , all day :) Its in our blood :)
Love this carpet bagger scrap user upper journal. I probably would have machine sewn in two signatures. With wide elastic loop on one edge, for pen or pencil. Stylish way to use up off cuts and misc papers and upholstery samples.
Hi Pam I to have upholstery fabric. Thanks for showing away to use it. Have a great weekend.
Glad it was helpful!
Good Morning and Happy Saturday Pam ❤️
I now know how to make a soft spine journal !
Thank you for this :)
Good morning dearest Bina! Have a fabulously creative day! :)!
I've never seen anything like this. Boy have you inspired me. Thanks so much.
I like the idea of a slightly wider cover to allow for a pen loop or pretty tabs.
Oh Pam! I have a ‘verbal eraser”, too. “Erase what I just said” has long been one if my best friends❣️ 🤗💕🦋
I love these ( CARPET NOTE BOOKS). I just found 3 sample cases of samples... I love crafting with you Pam. U are so comical to listen to. Love from Idaho, Julie
I have some pieces of leftover materials that I now have a purpose for! Thanks for sharing the video and all the tips!
Awesome Cindy! They make gorgeous covers!!
You are such a clever crafter...❤👏👏👏 I am so glad you schooled us in how to handle the page size issue. Thank you. ❤🎵🎼
Thank you for the washi tape suggestion! I have been tossing them because they just rip apart. I will try this microwave trick for sure! We spend so much on our supplies, And sometimes it's not the money but a print you love. It hurts to throw away items that you found and loved enough to put hard earned money into. Thanks Pam! You are totally a genius!
This is a great method, Pam. Thanks. Have a great weekend!
Hi That Day in Time by Sue! Thanks! I am so happy you are here! :) Pam :) !!
Another great idea. Thanks, Pam! You make me laugh, too!
Great tip with the washi! I learn so much watching you!
Thank you, Pam. And Sunny.
I was wondering what I was going to do with all the apholstery fabric samples I've accumulated. Good tip, thanks! And so easy. I guess my biggest challenge is creating the signatures, that is, gathering the papers into a satisfying stack.
I hear you MInka :) Its perfectly OK to make a journal with plain while copy paper...as you traverse the world you can gather unique papers, unusual old book pages and maybe try hand dying some papers. Its a lot of fun! Lots of things other than traditional paper can be used as signature pages...like doilies, tracing paper, old exam pages, wallpaper, paper napkins and more! Have fun exploring your worlds

I love the soft spine. I'm going to have to give this a try even though I'm not the best at sewing.
merci pour la video pour votre bonne humeur et la petite chanson a bientot
I really like your videos your inner voice makes me smile every time and just brightens my day. Thank You!
Thanks, happy to hear this G!:)
Greetings from the UK 🤩 just the perfect tutorial for my book making journey 💖
Yay1 Happy dance Kath!! :)
Thank you for a wonderful demo! I’ve never seen fabric used this way to make a soft journal! I might have to make a trip to the fabric store & check out heavier fabrics! I hope 2023 has gotten off to a good start for you & your family! Erica❤
I love the chunky journals!
Thanks, as I was just “fixing” to do a fabric journal , but a much more difficult way, by folding the fabric in as if you were wrapping a package ! Fixing to is what southerners say when they are getting ready to do something , your way is so clever Duh, why didn’t I know this . . ? Thanks again .
Great project. Thank you for sharing.
Seems like a perfect spine to me! A spine is not only formed and held in shape by the material that it's made out of, but also by the pages/textblock that's in it. Through junk journaling I discovered that most books, like real books, don't have very strong or sturdy spines perse. If you remove the textblock, the spine is quite flimsy. Also when one would create a strong chip board spine for a junk journal one would still need a more flexible (but strong) material to hinge the cover to... and fabric would be the perfect solution. So if the fabric is thinner, the spine could use some extra cardboard or chipboard, but if the fabric is already thick enough like your upholstery fabric, why bother, there's no reason for it.
An excellent supply for chipboard is school binders (3 ring binders). Old binders. The guts of the front and back covers are heavy chipboard. Just sliced through the vinyl. Great recycle. Idea for source: bring a box with a sign (label it binder recycling) to your local school and large offices. They will be happy to oblige. Middle and high school make students clean or their lockers at the end of the semesters and end of the year. Also ask for dead markers too for making alcohol inks. Don’t tell them what you are doing with them or you might not get any markers (teachers will steal your ideas); just say you will recycle the components.
I just love the way you do YOU. So much energy and creativity. Even on days that I can't craft... I can join you and Sunny in your craft room.
Thanks for all You Do.
This is EXACTLY the tutorial I wanted! Thanks, Pam.
you are simply the best ,ive been holding on to my goodwill sample farics im going to do this,i love you and sunny .i hope your hubby comes on to meet us someday
Yay! Much fun awaits you! :)
That’s amazing dear thank you so much for sharing ❤️❤️❤️I usually struggle and cut the fabric 2 pieces but folding it way easier
Anything to remove a step ;)
Hello Lovely Pam, yo, am watching from UK here over the pond bless. Thank you soo very for brightening my day 🦋 Love your fun, creative, inspiring tutorials and videos. I have a whole bunch of offcuts and big squares of fabric similar size as this gorgeous gold & red piece you have here. Am about to start making my first junk journal. I use Amozon large A4 envelopes that I upcycle, which I use for my covers and spines for my mini albums. Awwww bless you, love your sense of humour. Yes please do sing, love your humour and crafting. Its what is all about. Having Fun, Play, Create! Today is going to be planting my redcurrant bushes, rhubarb and wild strawberries this morning and will do some crafting this afternoon. Get my pile of fabric ruminants out. I also have some muslin and calico and want to create some faux leather for outer spine. Am watching having coffee this morning. Have a lovely day, fun, play night create! Happy Crafting! Stay safe, Take care, sending big warm hugs. Rainbow Blessings Namaste Lizzie xxx 💜🎨🦋🦋☕☕
Thank you! Loved this great idea. I am a fabricholic
I found myself smiling the whole time the fuzzy paper weight was on camera! Thanks Pam for teaching us how to make your fabulous journals😍
So glad!
Ohhhhh......I thought your journal was the cutest thing ever UNTIL I saw your puppy. No contest.....puppy wins! Thanks for the inspiration for your journal. I learned a lot.
I use the same process of adding paper when it doesn’t fit exactly. I too, typically, alternate the longer pieces with the shorter pieces so they aren’t all long until you get to the middle of the journal . Another way to combat this issue altogether, I have been buying the drawing pads from Walmart that have much larger pages so I can cut them to the exact size I need. The paper is regular copy paper weight and when I dye my paper I dye the whole page and then dry and cut down. I typically don’t have much, if not any at all waist on the off cuts because they are a great size for note pads and such. Another tip would be to use legal size paper to begin with. Just an FYI tip.
Thanks for the tips! I use legal paper to be sure I’m wide enough but I like your drawing paper idea too. P.s. I am Jana the Nurse crafter.
@@painterlypatriot3564, hi Jana. I don’t see many people with my name. It’s nice to meet you. I was at an estate sale the other day and I should have picked up the 2 packs of legal sized paper I saw. The main reason I us the larger size paper is because I like that i have the option to make my journals taller I’d I want to. But legal size paper is a great idea.
Thank you so much for sharing 😘😘 I enjoy watching your videos, always learning something new 😊😊 hi Sunny 😘😘😍😍🤗🤗
Some great tips and tricks, thanks for the wonderful lesson Pam. Hope you and the fam have a great weekend, stay safe!
Hi Kelly Lea! It's always a pleasure seeing a comment from you! :)
Wonderful tutorial, very precise, thank you so much, really learned enough to try sewing . THANKS AGAIN!!!
This is great. Beautiful journals. I saved this one, so I can make one from my old thick materials. Thanks for demo. Blessings.

Thank you Pam, love your videos, and love this way of making a junk journal. Thank you.
Good morning Pam! Thank you for this! I should have known you would video the process for us. Always interested in simple and different ideas for covers. I like ‘odd’, non standard size jj (yes, I seem to enjoy making my crafty self miserable 😆). Love these covers!
So happy you enjoyed this! :)

Hello, Just wanted to tell you that a wine box makes great books. I use the Almaden box wine boxes. It is good and thick and it is free after you drink the wine.
Men and dogs all look cutest a little scruffy!

Thank you so needed step by step.
YES, I agree about showing step by step instructions...I like what you showed
Thanks for sharing your ideas!! I appreciate it!
Omg! Thank you so much for those ideas! 😊
That is a cute journal.
I am tempted to try this with batik fabric. It’s a bit sturdier than other fabrics.
Thanks Pam! That was great!
I'm getting some great ideas from you, thank-you
This was fun. Thanks. I’m inspired and asap I will do this ❤️
I loved the smooshy sound of this one. Gorgeous fabric.
Oh yes, its extra smooshy! :)
Great tutorial Pam. TFS! Namesta 🤗🐞🥰
Sunny couldn’t look bad if he tried...always adorable! 🥰. Love the fabrics you used and particularly like the construction (using salvages, folding for inside etc). That is a cool size...reminds me of the autograph books we used in school. 🤣. Always fun to watch you create...you make me laugh. 👍😝❤️🥰
They do look like autograph books! I loved those old books!! :)
Awesome work Pam 🎉❤
Great videos and thorough instructions! I love hearing Holly (hope I got his name right) singing in the background. You don't talk to him as you craft anymore since you got the pup. It was fun listening to him answer you!! Hope he's doing well
I love your journals with fabric! inspired me for an add in my daughter's Junk Journal, Pirates theme
You are so appreciated!! :) Pam :) !!
Love love your journals! ❤
SMOOCHEE...Covers. I like the way you wrap around the fabric. It makes it so much easier. Hope it will work to glue instead of sewing.
Did you hide the birds? I know Sunny is the star now. But he's so cute. And he's got a great voice. TFS Pamaroo. Have a wonderful week. Hug xoxo
I think the tool is a stylus. Somehow I've accumulated several through the years. Theyre handy for tracing with graphite when you don't want to ruin the original.
Hope Fred passes you by quickly.
Thanks Diane, yes I think you are right :) Yes, move along Fred and other no one ;)
That is a great tip to use with graphite to trace. I never thought of that! Thank you.
If you open the bottom of the punch where punched-out pieces collect, you can see the mark on the fabric more easily.
This is great! I just acquired a boat load of some wonderful upholstery material and was struggling with how to use it to make covers. Thank you.
Its amazing how many of us have it and hoard it! Me too :)
Such gourgous and simple journals... I can't believe amongst the 100's of journals I've made, I haven't yet done one with a soft spine..this is going on my ever growing " to do" list...thanks Pam...best wishes Michelle in QLD Australia 😊😊😊🙏♥️
They are addictive..you have been warned :)
Another fun journal. Shows it doesn’t need to be complicated to be fun. Happy weekend. Big hugs v❤️❤️
Yay! More ways to have fun! :) God morning Patricia! :)
I love finding cushion covers in charity shops.
Oh great resource!!
Love the photos, too💖🤗💕🦋
Thank you! Cheers!
@@ThePaperOutpost 💖
If you can't see your black hole mark on fabric you could do a thread tack 😉 from sewing. I like the upholstery cover look ❤🍁
Clever!
🙏💜great video Pam. Tfs
Great page ideas!
As always awesome!! I have to get a big chopper thing.
Thank you so much for the great video!! I have all weights of fabric waiting for me to do something with. I also want to especially say I appreciate your "talking", and such positive energy thru your videos. It helps me stay positive and motivated!! Thank you and be blessed.
Thank you for sharing. Always looking for different methods of creating junk journals. You're right about chipboard being everywhere in our lives lol. I scour goodwill and thrift stores for binder notebooks then I just remove the hardware and plastic and voila instant chipboard.😉👍
I watch all your videos and love to hear you explain what you're doing just don't comment on them Great video
I am happy to know you are here Janice! :)
