As the proud daughter of a late master quilter, my tip of the day is- the needle thread needs to go under the foot. Don't ever worry about calamity around the Pam Fam. We love you and will follow you through all the highs and lows. You're real, relatable, humble, and just a wonderful human. This video is reckless abandon at its finest.
“A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.” (Albert Einstein.) Your right up there with the greats, Pam. This was absolutely a fun video and a good learning one too. I would much rather see someone make mistakes and own them, than a "perfect" tutorial. Hugs from Oregon.
Amen!!! Love watching Pam. You can learn so much by how errors are handled. This makes it easier to solve any problems we run into. Thank you Pam!!! 👍🏻❤️🥰
I started watching this video knowing Pam would make me chuckle. Before the video finished I was laughing out freaking loud. I want to see these 2 journals decorated and up for sale. Pam, you are so good for my tired of bad news soul. Please keep on crafting with your reckless abandon.
Only Pam can make us laugh so hard. Have not seen or even done myself pick up and tip over the whole machine to find the needle. Thanks for the laugh and learning what not to do lol.
Lord have mercy. I laughed til I almost did not make it to the bathroom. Laughed till I cried!!! I never get. To laugh! Thank you sooo much Pam! Only you can be that fount. Don’t stop making us laugh!!! Thank you. Love everything you do!
I have been sewing for over 50 years and I have NEVER seen anyone pick up a sewing machine and turn it upside down! I thought I would never stop laughing! BTW... paper really, really dulls sewing stuff. To change your crafting life, try 90 (14) - for medium to heavy weight work, and 100 (16) or 110 (18) for really heavy stuff. (This would be the voice of experience!) Someone suggested leather needles. They would fall in the 100 - 110 category. I think the ones you are using are 70 (10). They are for silky, soft, flowy fabrics. I love your stuff and have used many of your ideas in the journals I've been making for family and friends. Thank you for not giving up!
Either I learn to show from my auntie on one she taught showing at singer and my sewing lessons for sewing over lines on a piece of notebook paper and sewing circles around a another piece of paper that has circles drawn on it so anyway don't worry about anyting it's not important in the long run you did good long tutorial and I love the paper you choose you have such good taste and you have so many options to choose from and you put your neck out there so we can learn from you thank you❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Oh my Pam, I laughed and laughed..great stuff. I think the idea to make the book and cover from pages was great! The comedy and voice over was priceless. Please never change you are such a breath of fresh air. ♥️♥️
I'm clearing out my yarn collection and really needed a laugh! That little knot on the back of the journal is called 'a sweet little mess' and it's a highly technical term. I laughed so hard I was snorting, crying and trying not to wet myself all at the same time. Now there is one thing missing from this video - the non-sewing version. That would be the cherry on top of the laughter sundae! Many, many thanks for all your videos and your wonderful sense of humor! PS: You could journal your thoughts on this adventure next week to keep us in stitches :)
Oh Pam, I've loved watching you for awhile now and love every second of your time you share with us, but today you had me crying with laughter at how absolutely brilliantly comedic you are when you want to just go with it. I love you even more so now...please, for all that is good in this world, please never ever change, we love you exactly as you are. ;)
This video is priceless!! 🤣🤣🤣 When you said, "Let it be"; all I could think was, Pam is 'speaking words of wisdom'...🎶 Love hearing your giggles at the end!! 💖😘
Absolutely love it!!! It doesn’t matter if the second one was a little harder. It is perfect!!! There’s never mistakes in homemade junk journals. A great teacher is one that shows everything!!! Thank you so much Pam I really enjoy your channel. You’re such an amazing artist and you inspire all of us to push ourselves just a little bit more with every video you make. I love drinking my coffee in the morning while watching your videos. It’s the absolute best way to start my day. Again thanks for everything!!!
Pam, u r awesome! U r wonderful making journals but u r an even better comedian! Loved every minute of this video. I thought I would fall out when u said u needed a break and a rice crispy treat! Hilarious! Thank u for sharing!! U made my day!!!😂😂😂😂😂👏👏👏👏👏💓💖💗💛💚💙💜💝💞💟
Pam, I loved this video because it showed your whole thinking and creative process. Made me feel better about my own experiments that don’t work very well. It is all part of the creative process and how we learn.
Isn't Pam the greatest? 🥰 .....one thing to remember tho... be careful when drinking your coffee... those Pam moments could be disastrous if you are drinking... instant coffee dyed everything...🤪😜🤭🥰
I love that you are comfortable enough in your own skin to take an idea and go through the entire process in front of your audience. When I craft I often take things apart numerous times because something doesn't go like I imagined it would. Watching your creative process is wonderful. You are a pleasure from your crafting to your doggie voice.🙂
Yes, sort of a female version of Bob Ross. No mistakes....just happy little accidents. 🥰👍🏻 And when one has the talent to bring joy into the world who is to say that's a bad thing? Keep the chuckles coming... 🥰
Hello Miss Pam! I think this is an extremely valuable crafting video, especially for new crafters. Watching the thought process as you work from idea to a finished craft is where the value of the video resides. For a beginning crafter, it wipes away the idea that knowledge and skill is a necessity to start. Obviously you possess both, but this video shows us that creating is a challenging process for everyone. I'm thinking it should take away some of the fear newbies bring to their own creations.
I LOVE your humor. This video made my day! Thank you for your "reckless abandon" and for not being afraid to try new things whether they work or not. Much love!
Oh Pam you made my day!!!! So glad to see you having so much fun even when it all muffs up on you!!!! 2 cute little journals came out of it and a whole bag full of laughs that we all surely need in this day and time! Thank you for all you do to make our lives happier and our craft rooms more fun!!!! Hugs to you Ms Sally Pants!
Oh my gosh! I was feeling bad (UTI) and l needed this laugh! Your commentary is priceless! I soooo enjoy you, Pam, for your creativity, transparency, and fun!! You are awesome on so many levels! 💖💖
Pam you just won the internet for me today!!! This is hands down my most favourite video of yours because you just kept it so real. I laughed and laughed and then that well used question, "What are you eating?" had me laughing even more. Please never stop what you are doing, your videos make my day. 😃😺❤🧡💚
Pam this is just the gift that keeps on giving. I put this on when I need a good belly laugh. Thank you for not deleting this video. Your the best!! Patience personified.
Wow, my partner and I we in tears. I’m an experienced seamstress and when you tuned that over and had that big knot...I almost peed. Thank you...!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Pam, you're hilarious 🤣 this video was the best!! I laughed through the whole thing and got tickled at the end when you were giggling....so funny 🤣😆🤣 I love watching your videos, always fun and very informative! Thank you for sharing your talent and love for crafting, you're very inspiring ❤
@thepaperoutpost This was absolutely the most fun I've ever had watching someone work their way through a random idea! Your gracious laughter is a balm to the soul. Thank you for sharing this video with the world. We need it!! Laughter is great medicine.
Dearest Pam. You're are just as "touched" as I am. You tickle me pink. Thank you for all your idea's and chuckles. A sheer delight and joy spending time with you.
Oh my, I laughed out loud. “Looks like a rat chewed on it” and your hot flash comment. And you getting the giggles at the end. Thank you for the laughs. I needed that today!!
Hi Pam… I’m 77 and started sewing at age 10 maybe?…”on paper” on my mom’s singer feather weight machine, sewing along the notebook blue lines. Brings back memories for many reading this …yes!!! So glad to see this video…love love love😂 You are so brave by making a bad experiment into something worth working with by not giving up! How many who watched you would have given up at first pucker ‼️not you Pam …this is great! You are amazing …happy crafting‼️😄
Please do some more "How not to" videos, that was hilarious...enjoy your snack you deserve it ...I always watch you but rarely comment but I just couldn't resist x
❤️Thank you for this! It’s good to know that you too sometimes struggle. Now I don’t have to try those particular techniques unless I want to!!!!! It’s crazy though, I just finished a sideways book page journal with your hair conditioner faux leather cover! Thank you for sharing!
I know this is a year old so you may not even read this comment, but anyway…I appreciate you creating on the spot. It may not come out like the picture in your head but you always have such wonderful ideas. I love your creative process and your positive energy. Thank you for being you and sharing your time with us. Gentle bear hugs xx from Arizona
This was a learning experience but I loved every minute of it. You're very entertaining and you keep me laughing all the time. The way you talk to your to Sunny, to all your surroundings makes me feel as if we are right there with you. Thanks for being you. I love you.
I like the first one, that one has "secret" pockets in the middle! :D Wonderful work :) and I have to say, this was much more organized than how my ADHD brain works, so, in no shape or form a "lousy" instruction :) 💜 Thank you for the hangout :D
When you start sewing, I think the upper thread needs to be tucked under the foot before bringing it to the back. That way the thread won't catch and hold the feed dogs from advancing the journal . I love your videos! You are the awesome art teacher I never had!!!
Pam this is the best video I have ever watched because I sew the same way. i watch this over and over and laugh myself silly. YOU ARE SO GENUINE AND REAL AND I LEARN A LOT FROM YOU. pLEASE NEVER STOP MAKING VIDEOS. You take all the stress out of me making videos. IT IS ONLY PAPER RIGHT!
In clothing, there is a thing called “turn of the cloth” which is the amount of cloth needed to make the fold. If not calculated into the design at the beginning, other pieces won’t fit. The same is true for paper. Sewing one line at the center back, then trimming the edges, will work. Sewing two lines at the same place 1/8” apart, will create a nice fold.
I have a “Calamity Box” of projects that just didn’t work out in the end, or the middle, or maybe even early in the beginning, but they all taught me something in the doing. They’re all uniquely wonky, I love them all and cannot bring myself to toss them into the trash. Every once in a while I pull one out, look at reworking it somehow, and often use it anyway . . . after the sting of frustration has worn off I kind of enjoy their witness to my thought processes. 😊
My grandmother whom taught me how to sew always told me, “ it’s not about if you make mistakes it’s how you fix the mistakes that matter” 🥰 I’m 57 and can’t believe how much that has helped me in all areas of my life.. Love your videos! I’m new to your channel and binge binge binge watch you… Love Sonny and your African Gray (?) 😉🤗🥰💜💜💜
NEVER a waste of time when spent in your company, Pam Prototype is great, spur of the moment 😱 is definately, much more fun! Time for a snack! 🤣🤣 Hi Sunny! 💙 - love from Denmark 🌸💕🌱
The is such an enlightening and funny video!! I rarely comment, but I just have to say your running commentary on these is absolutely fantastic and hilarious, You make me want to journal with reckless abandon!! 😆 Please keep doing what your doing, I want to see more!!!
I absolutely adored this video! Please don’t worry about the mistakes. They were fantastic because they reminded me I am not alone in making them! You are a true joy and never fail to make me smile. 😊😊😊
I so enjoy your tenacity. Experimentation is fabulous. If you don't try you never know what you can achieve. I do so enjoy your humour Pam. Thank you for sharing all your tips and I do so enjoy your style of journaling.
Oh Miss Pam, this may just be my Fav video so far. And a prime example of why I don’t use my sewing machine. Thank you for the laughs. But more importantly, showing us how to keep pushing forward. I would have gotten frustrated and given up. You have helped encourage me💖
God bless you!!!!! You know your machine now!!!!!! I've sewn 15 pages without any problems, but you really went the limit with your little journals. Pam, I LOVED watching and listening to you and Girl, you earned your snack today for sure!!!!!! I could not stop watching!!!!!!!!! Try journaling with an ink pen on the sideways pages. It works great! Or a small tipped marker works on a book page. I love writing on book pages. Keep up the GREAT work Pam!!!!! Love your videos!!!!!!
Oh Pam, you are my kinda crafter! I really enjoyed that you persisted until you had a complete project. How many times do thing like this happen to all of us? Over and over!,, TFS and sticking it out girl!
Oh Pam.....you’ve given me more laughter crinkles...😂😂😂😜🤣🤣🤣. You and your strings!!! Thank you for the journey....don’t think I’ll attempt this project, but boy it was fun.cheers lovely lady....❤️🙋🏻🐨🦘💐🌻👍🌹🦜
Not only does Pam come up with original ideas...... but she is sooo delightful to hear. This is THEE best channel that I have found. That is..... entertaining. I love Sonny - aka - Fluffy Pants.. hahaha he can steal the shoe for sure. 🥰 😄👍👍
This video was absolutely delightful and exactly what I needed tonight. Thank you Pam for just being wonderful you. I think if you folded the pages and cover first, before sewing may help. This will show you where the pages want to land before forcing them to land elsewhere, creating bulge. Thx for showing us that reckless abandon is always fun and no matter what, it’s just paper. 🌷
Oh my gosh Pam! You are a hoot! The part where you were sewing...trying to sew the X in the center of that second journal... I laughed so hard, that I almost peed my pants! And then at the end when you finally gave it up and started laughing! I smile and laugh all the time watching your videos, you are just the cutest! And I so love your sense of humor! You outdid yourself today though! I haven't had a whole lot to smile or laugh about lately, but I always look forward to your videos, because you are such a ray of sunshine, just like that cute little puppy of yours! Thanks so much for the great content and for being you! I have such a good time watching! Thank you Pam! :)
I just love your channel and you! I laugh with you, not at you. Tears stream down my face. Your sewing machine and you are quite the duo. I love how you never say die, you just go a different direction. No matter what, I'll never stop watching your videos. Sunny is the cutest!
Pam, for someone who has had no professional training on the sewing machine you are absolutely amazing. I've been sewing for over 50 years so I salute you!🏅. I have to say I love watching you work your way through the obstacles thrown your way. A daily dose of your fab videos keeps me going. Keep up the great work!
I needed a good laugh. My insides feel all lubricated as I go giggling off to bed. You keep on being you because you help make the world a happier place.
Pam, You make me so happy when you laugh. I SO need a sewing machine like this one you have. It's way easier, just watch you do it, to use. The bobbin that always gives me grief and a self threading needle hicky ma do ! I have so many things that need to be sewn clothing wise and then paper's. Much Love my friend. Email Me again because I lost our conversation when I got this phone. It's in my SD card somewhere, but the new Samsung doesn't use an SD card! 😵 Never thought they would be like this, but dang them for doing it! Much Love x
You are a gal after my own heart, “research” experiment, always a worthwhile trip. Just make sure you’re using your own equipment, so you don’t have to replace a batch of someone else’s needles or worse, a whole bobbin assembly! I once sewed right into my right index finger! That meant an ER trip but it’s not the worst thing I’ve ever done to myself! LOL!! Anyway, you are great fun. Thanks 🙏🏻
Love the journey to making these darling journals. Pam, to experiment is half the battle. I've enjoyed this . Have a super fantastic weekend! Sending love and hugs Sherry 🧡🧡🧡✌✌
I loved this video! You are so awesome!! Just a little tip - when you are sewing through thicker material or multiple layers, adjust your stitch length to make it longer. It makes it easier for the needle to get through the layers. :)
Thanks so much! That means a lot :)
Awe...that was almost traumatic, but I loved the way you soldiered on with it xx
Omg I love everything you do. You make us think outside the journal! Lol
“A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.” (Albert Einstein.) Your right up there with the greats, Pam. This was absolutely a fun video and a good learning one too. I would much rather see someone make mistakes and own them, than a "perfect" tutorial. Hugs from Oregon.
Hi Adele and thanks!
Amen!!! Love watching Pam. You can learn so much by how errors are handled. This makes it easier to solve any problems we run into. Thank you Pam!!! 👍🏻❤️🥰
More hugs from western Oregon so fun leaving from you! 😊
Lol so fun LEARNING from you
I started watching this video knowing Pam would make me chuckle. Before the video finished I was laughing out freaking loud. I want to see these 2 journals decorated and up for sale. Pam, you are so good for my tired of bad news soul. Please keep on crafting with your reckless abandon.
Thanks so much Lynda! :)
Omy I'm Bout to pee my pants. I love this
Only Pam can make us laugh so hard.

The feats of strength were unexpected but admired.🤩
The seamstress in me was like, what are you doing. The newbee journaling in me was like, keep quiet I want to see where she goes with this. 😂
lol...I often wonder where I am going too ;)
thank you Pam .. I haven’t smiled so much for more than a year ... you are wonderful, one of nature’s treasures..
THIS IS JUST WHY WE ALL LOVE YOU PAM!!🤣❤
I'm clearing out my yarn collection and really needed a laugh! That little knot on the back of the journal is called 'a sweet little mess' and it's a highly technical term. I laughed so hard I was snorting, crying and trying not to wet myself all at the same time. Now there is one thing missing from this video - the non-sewing version. That would be the cherry on top of the laughter sundae! Many, many thanks for all your videos and your wonderful sense of humor!
PS: You could journal your thoughts on this adventure next week to keep us in stitches :)
Great idea!
I never laughed so much!!!!
The mad crafter
Pam, The big numbers are the stronger thicker needles, 10 is for fine work. Love your enthusiasm and imagination.
Oh Pam, I've loved watching you for awhile now and love every second of your time you share with us, but today you had me crying with laughter at how absolutely brilliantly comedic you are when you want to just go with it. I love you even more so now...please, for all that is good in this world, please never ever change, we love you exactly as you are. ;)

And a grand time was had by all. 😆 Thanks for sharing your time, experience, and experiment with us, warples and all. 💕
This video is priceless!! 🤣🤣🤣 When you said, "Let it be"; all I could think was, Pam is 'speaking words of wisdom'...🎶 Love hearing your giggles at the end!! 💖😘
Hi Debbie V.! You have warmed my heart with your beautiful words! :) Pam :) !!
Love the spontaneity...if you don't experiment then you don't discover. The journals turned out cute and everyone had fun! 💕
Thank you for keeping it real AND entertaining !! I absolutely love your sense of humor . Sunny's appearances are appreciated as well
Absolutely love it!!! It doesn’t matter if the second one was a little harder. It is perfect!!! There’s never mistakes in homemade junk journals. A great teacher is one that shows everything!!! Yes, sort of a female version of Bob Ross. No mistakes....just happy little accidents. 🥰👍🏻 And when one has the talent to bring joy into the world who is to say that's a bad thing? Keep the chuckles coming... 🥰
I love your jibber jabber and while you're working. Makes me smile
You could never waste my time!❤ you get my day off with a smile and a giggle! Thank you!
You are never a waste of my time, Pam,, “We learn from each other” Thank you!
Such a brave optimist - and always retrieving any miss-takes to create uniqueness... loved it!
I’m so happy that you posted this. It’s real, it happens, and you always keep a great attitude!
Love your commenting & your sense of humor!!! 😂🤣

I LOVE your humor. This video made my day! Thank you for your "reckless abandon" and for not being afraid to try new things whether they work or not. Much love!
The paper gods were sitting above your head going “let’s have fun with Pam today.” The god of misrule was laughing his head off,. We love ya Pam.
You are spot on Carolynn! :)
Oh my you are a Joy! Sunny your mom is a treasure!!!! Love this!
Oh Pam you made my day!!!! I laughed and laughed and then that well used question, "What are you eating?" had me laughing even more. Please never stop what you are doing, your videos make my day. 😃😺❤🧡💚
Your "squishing the paper down" sounds effects make my day!
“Don’t eat the papers” has been on a loop in my mind all afternoon! Lol 😂 he is like his mama and loves to play with the paper.
So true :)
Pam this is just the gift that keeps on giving. I put this on when I need a good belly laugh. Thank you for not deleting this video. Your the best!! Patience personified.

I love this video. Watching the create process unfold- warts and all. Thanks Pam for being so authentic!!!
Pam: we’re you auditioning for a TV sitcom. I was laughing all the way. However, the journal is really nice. Very clever! Carol from California
Oh Pam your hilarious, you never give up
I have enough trouble doing the normal journals without experimenting lol
But they were fun
🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
@thepaperoutpost This was absolutely the most fun I've ever had watching someone work their way through a random idea! Your gracious laughter is a balm to the soul. Thank you for sharing this video with the world. We need it!! Laughter is great medicine.

They're not hot flashes, they are "tropical moments". I love the journal. The cover looks like a soft leather.
LOL..feeling very tropical lately ;)
Tropical moments 🤣 I wish!
@@ThePaperOutpost I call them power surges😆
Pam got the giggles! So cute. I know, sometimes you just need to walk away for a bit. ❤️
Ta-Da!!! I love that you gave reckless abandoning to the end! Sew/Glue on........!😊👍

NEVER a waste of time when spent in your company, Pam
Prototype is great, spur of the moment

I absolutely adored this video! Please don’t worry about the mistakes. They were fantastic because they reminded me I am not alone in making them! You are a true joy and never fail to make me smile. 😊😊😊

GOD BLESS YOU.
I so enjoy your tenacity. Experimentation is fabulous. If you don't try you never know what you can achieve. I do so enjoy your humour Pam. Thank you for sharing all your tips and I do so enjoy your style of journaling.
Big hugs Esther! :)
Hi Pam💕
Love your calamity and many chuckles, love the fabric you added on the edge. Hope today finds you well, take care of you! Hugs! 🤗
"Hey, I belong here. I have purpose, existence!" MY NEW MANTRA!! :-D
Pam thank you much, you never cease to entertain.
Pam you always bring out the joy of laughter in us. We have a lot of fun watching you. You go girl.. keep having fun doing you.
Love seeing this! This still has possibilities. Lol. .
It’s definitely okie dokie!!! Loved the video. You did just fine. Thank you for the great video!!!!
Thanks for hanging here for this epic journey with me Elizabeth! :)
I just love your channel and you! I laugh with you, not at you. Tears stream down my face. Your sewing machine and you are quite the duo. I love how you never say die, you just go a different direction. No matter what, I'll never stop watching your videos. Sunny is the cutest!
I had a blast watching and listening to you think, Thank you for being you!!
You truly do make my day Pam.
Stay safe and well
❤🌹🙂🙏🌹
Pam, for someone who has had no professional training on the sewing machine you are absolutely amazing. I've been sewing for over 50 years so I salute you!🏅. I have to say I love watching you work your way through the obstacles thrown your way. A daily dose of your fab videos keeps me going. Keep up the great work!
I needed a good laugh. My insides feel all lubricated as I go giggling off to bed. You keep on being you because you help make the world a happier place.
Thank you so much for sharing, love that you share the not so perfect videos. That’s just one of the reasons I love watching your videos. Awesome 🥰👍🏻
Pam you outdid yourself today! Enjoyed the commentary! Had fun watching!!!
Pam,
You make me so happy when you laugh.
Thanks 🙏🏻
I had fun!!
Thoroughly enjoyed the calamity 🥰 of the second part of your video… love the way you finished it though.
A good crafter NEVER gives up!
You make me laugh..... it’s great for the soul! I like your “laisser faire”approach. Sonny is sooooooo sweet.
Love the journey to making these darling journals. Pam, to experiment is half the battle. I've enjoyed this . Have a super fantastic weekend! Sending love and hugs Sherry 🧡🧡🧡✌✌
I love your spontaneity… you make me laugh!! I enjoy watching your tutorials no matter what!♥️
"It is something." ~ Calamity Pam
It is hilarious. I also loved that you never gave up. Thank you Pam.
I loved this video! You are so awesome!! Just a little tip - when you are sewing through thicker material or multiple layers, adjust your stitch length to make it longer. It makes it easier for the needle to get through the layers. :)
