No, it's not. They have completely different lyrics and subject matter. "England" is about the demise of society; "Blue Moon" is about depressed love. As for why they haven't been playing it, Russell told me in an email that they don't feel confident playing B-sides live anymore because they think it kills the atmosphere. Personally I would completely disagree; this video is the best Bloc performance I've ever seen.

bloc party should just release one massive album with both AWITC, b-sides and main album. i would buy it in a heartbeat. or they should just make a new album all together and not have any b-sides.

while im sure most know it by now, you can get this track (well with the new lyrics) on an unofficial b-side album called 'another weelend in the city' thats been doing the round on torrent sites and downloading programs for some months now. its brilliant, prob not as good as the proper album but fans of silent alarm may like it more. apparently the band are quite happy for people to download the b-sides.

I like the b-side version better. The lyrics in that one sound like they're about David Morley and the happy slapping, and the family friend that was killed in the racist attack. It just goes deeper.
i kno ive commented here before but i still cannot believe they cut this song off the new album!!!! It's a great song and its not on the final 11 songs...im pretty dissapointed but im still looking foward to " A Weekend in the City"
England is by far my favourite Bloc Party track.. but this version is even better than the one on the album (I have the Japanese version of the cd). Does anyone happen to know where I can find the lyrics to this version of the track?
this is such a great song, i can't believe that they didn't put it on A Weekend In The City... it's quite sad :( but the bloc party guys did a great job anyway
this original version is so much better than the england b side they put out(lyrically much better)....and this version should of defiantly been on weekend!!
i kind of feel bad because i think videos like this have made them sort of paranoid about playing songs before they are released or songs leaking online, as evidenced how their newest album comes out digitally in like a week or something
