Who thinks the office looks so much better this way?
I know that as viewers we can never really tell how you guys are doing in real life, but can I just say that I think you both look so much happier and brighter and comfortable in who you are right now. I love to see you like this after what we know it s been a hard year. Whatever you are doing, keep doing it. Sending all the best wishes your way♥️

The ones that will habe beautiful flowers (in your vegetable beds) are „Nasturtiums“. They are edible and would be amazing for your cooking-videos! They are a cress-plant and very good on buttered bread or salads.
Also the flowers act like a guardian to other crops because they are very bright and colorful they attract insects and other parasites, leaving alone the crops you want to suceed.
You can also pickle the seed pods as imitation capers.
Don't waste money on paying for an expensive night guard for grinding. My dentist told me just go to the sporting store and buy a football mouthpiece. You boil it in water and put it into your mouth where it molds to your teeth, then the plastic ( make sure it is clear and BPA free) will harden. I've done this for years and it works great and costs $4.00. As for the invisiline, just remember you will have rubber bands in your mouth for a LONG time, and as a RUclips speaker/ presenter, they will show on both sides of your mouth for a few years. They will make it a pain to eat and chew. This is the down side of invisiline, along with having to go in very frequently for adjustments/ new lines. I LOVE the new stools, and congratulations on the new iMac. I have one and would not use anything else! Also, congrats on your first strawberry!!!! Can't wait for the new cabinets and countertop to come in!

You should sand the stool and keep it. Even if you only want two stools at the kitchen it’s worth having an extra in a corner or closet! Plus if when you update the kitchen you end up wanting the third stool you already have it

I agree! In fact some friends bought only 2 and then realised everyone who visited sat on the stools and they had to order 2 more. When you invite people over, they can sit and have a drink while you cook or prepare some nibbles

We had a very similar sized bar and 3 people trying to sit at once had no elbow room. Two is much more functional and looks less crowded.
I prefer 2 in the space 😅
Just a thought... how about a bright and bold wallpaper on the back wall of the office. Removing the door trim and continuing the paper right over the door would look amazing. It would look like a secret door! Also, a short fridge only the height of the countertop would make your sister's desk area brighter. The office is looking great already!
Fellow teeth grinder here. For years, I had cavities at every dentist visit, until a new dentist FINALLY realized I was grinding my teeth. I got a very expensive night guard (shoutout to America's problematic healthcare system) a few years ago, and have had no cavities since. Well worth it! Word of warning though...dogs LOVE to chew night guards. Learned that the hard way....
love the new office layout! maybe you could put the notice/ vision board above the sofa or on the wall next to your sisters desk as it'd be more accessible to adapt as your goals change than behind the big monitors at the back? XX

Re the countertop samples - both of us agree the onyx is by far the best. It has a lovely textured look and isn’t so white that it’s impossible to keep clean.
It's so great to see you thinking about where to hang your RUclips award and press cuttings, and in your beautiful new house. When I first started watching you three years ago, we were just moving to Cornwall to be closer to my wife's family, and ended up living quite rurally next door to them! It's been a massive change for me because I'm such a city girl, but watching you at the beginning, especially when you moved back, was such a great thing for me to see - just watching someone I could relate to live a normal life around here, and going to what is now our local supermarket etc, made all the difference to how I settled in and made my own version of life here. I saw you having a walk with friends and the doggo on our local beach about a month back and I didn't want to intrude, but in my head I was waving hi. 👋

Nasturtium leaves are peppery, together with the blossoms make a chic salad and you can pickle the seed pods as a sort of caper. At least that is what my mum told me.
I started Invisalign in January and it was the BEST decision! There are some mild risks and challenges that come with it (that hopefully your dentist covered with you!) but for me it's all been 100% worth it
You can eat green rhubarb stalks but they're not as good as red ones, less sweet. Wait til they turn red. Lovely video- garden and beach and a makeover too? We're so spoiled, love it.

Leave the nasturtium, you can eat the leaves and flowers in salad and it attracts beneficial insects❤️✨🌱If you buy a two way hoe, no need to bend to weed, just run the hoe backwards and forwards which cuts the tops of your weeds, weakens them and they decompose
The nasturtiums also attract aphids away from other plants, which is good for the plants you don't want aphids on.
You can also make poor mans capers from them seeds😀
Fantastic vlog Madeleine and good office makeover and plans for the kitchen. It was great to see the first berries on the strawberries and nothing tastes better than directly from the plant. I have berries on mine, none have went red yet and still some flowers for the bees and flowers have developed on my blackberry so that will also help the 🐝.

Different shades of woods are actually beautiful and used in design a lot. I think you just need to add another shade (piece) if you keep them and it will all go together.

That plant that produces flowers is called nasturtium or canary creeper I guess and it is edible actually. Even the flowers are edible and very pretty on top of a salad :)

The plant just before you show the rhubard is nastursium. In addition to pretty flowers the young leaves have a very peppery flavour, similar to rocket They mkae a fantastic adddition to a salad! Give it a go!

I think it would be alot less busy in the office if you‘d get a fridge built into one of the kitchencabinets.
Three looks crowded and according to decorating rules function is as important and slightly more important as astetics so 2 is best for the space. To make it look better spacing of the stools is important and also placing a setting of dishes on place mats as well as something in the middle of the counter top would do the trick. It is all in what you put on the top of the counter and the spacing of the stools.
Gosh I am so jealous of you guys being so close to the sea!! Got our first red strawberry of the year last week...only half coloured but I'm keeping a close eye!
Edit: yes to the invisalign for grinding! So much better to do it sooner rather than later...my aunty never got round to it and cracked a tooth as a result of over grinding!
Thanks for sharing that cornwall coastline! You could consider to paint the office a Very pale green to bring the garden and nature into the office which might be welcome during the grey winters.
I love the Red Arrows so much. Thank you for including the footage of them! There is usually an air show every year near where I live but because of Covid it’s been cancelled 2 years running, and the year before that the Red Arrows didn’t come because they were in America. I needed my fix haha
You should consider companion planting chives with the strawberries… but only if you like to eat chives or purple pompom flowers

My friend and I were just having a conversation about the hair washing dilemma a couple hours ago. She had to go out and needed to wash her hair first, but was biking to where she was going so would get sweaty thus forcing her to rewash her hair.
The one someone said has nice flowers is a nasturtium and both the flowers and leaves are edible I had some at the house I grew up in and my mum put them in salads all the time! 😋

The plants/flowers look like nasturtiums. They are wonderful for gardens as spread well, the flowers are beautiful edible as well as they have a little pocket of nectar that you can sip out. For the empty beds , weed them, hoe the soil to make it looser it then plant with bush ( green or yellow) beans or something similar. Beans fix nitrogen in the soil and are so easy to store for the winter. Pick, wash, trim, dry then pack in freezer bags and stick them in the freezer. When they are at their height of production I found it took about an hour a day to process the beans. Mine lasted me through the winter and well into March.
I would opt for a mirror above Alex's desk - it would give him a nice view of the garden as well. Vision and inspo board could go on a door or the other wall. Would be much easier to use it without a desk in the way too.
The leave that you want to leave in your beds because they have nice flowers. They look like Nasturtiums. Be careful because they can take over the garden. But they are pretty.
Those flowers in the bed with weeds are Nasturtiums and they are edible. The leaves are very peppery like Rocket and absolutely divine in salads and sandwiches. They self seed too
Excited to see your kitchen come along! I think having the lighter countertops will make the biggest difference in brightening it up. Also for the office I’d turn the single desk on the left to face the wall so there’s more of an open passage to the back door.

The ones with "lovely flowers" that you are referencing are nasturtiums and the full plant -including flowers- is edible. They are super easy to grow and can grow enormous if they have the root space, , so I wouldn't feel too bad taking them out and replanting.
I'm currently making as well an office makeover! It's something that takes time but it's worth it!
having a new purchase not being "perfect" is a bummer, seeing that you were so excited for those stools. I just think you should work on that mindset that it is "broken". Its an imperfection on a natural material that can easily be fixed.
It’s quite an expensive stool so I don’t want to keep it if it damaged. Especially seeing as we waited for so long for them to come. It’s not on me to fix but the company. I’m not sure anyone would want to keep it and it is a lot worse in person than on camera 🤷🏻♀️
I'm pretty sure that thing with the ragwort is nasturtium. If its got a peppery smell and orange flowers it is, and the leaves and flowers are lovely in salads!

Those are oak galls growing on your oak tree! If you're into natural dyeing, you can use them to mordant fabric, or even use them to create your own black ink 🌿

I actually love the warmer color of the bedside tables and would stain the dresser to match! If you don’t want to do that I would try to return as it’s a bummer to work on something you just purchased.
The foliage you thought were flowers, I think are nasturtiums. They are beautiful yellow and orange flowers and are also edible if they’re organically grown. Yea!
It could be cool to cover a whole wall in cork (or the top part of it) or magnetic paint, so you could turn the whole wall into a motivation & vision board.
For your Invisalign, I really recommend getting an orthokey tool to remove them - makes it much easier! The removal part can be really tricky and painful at the start and you have to take them out lots to eat...

I have just started my invisalign journey. My bottom teeth are super crowded and I am so insecure about it so it felt like the right thing to do. I am just waiting for my aligners to arrive.
We have lots of veg and fruit growing in our garden too. And I heard that it is important to prevent the strawberries from touching the soil as they can go mushy if they do, so we have some straw over the soil so it will catch the strawberries if they dip down to the surface.

Those bedside tables definitely look darker than in the picture. I would ask the seller if they put something on it to seal it before shipping. I bet they had put linseed oil on it, which does give it a darker, slight orange look to wood. If it is linseed oil, you can sand if off pretty easily. Hope that helps.
I don't know if you noticed but the bedside tables are the same color of the stool you had (that you were using as a night table).
those plants that will have the pretty flowers are nasturtiums I think. the flowers are peppery and good in salads, etc. Trees trained to a surface are espaliered.

Hi Madeleine, 're. Your "when to garden " dilemma. In the hot weather I find it best to do some either early morning or evening when the weather is cooler, and your energy levels won't be so sapped. Also if you are watering your beds do it evening time as it has a chance to soak in overnight without evaporating in hot sun. You can then enjoy the daytime sun as well !! 😎
