I think a lot of RUclipsrs don’t realize that their core followers don’t need to see “new” content or see them reinvent the wheel, we kinda just want to see this person whose personality we enjoy do whatever it is they like! I usually like the laid back and chatty videos even more than the more produced ones. Just wna see you be you!
My favorite RUclipsrs don’t understand that they could basically do the same video updated every year with their new AV equipment and I would gobble that shit up.
Okay, but that intro actually gave me a bit of motivation to clean. I genuinely thought that was just gonna be the whole video for a moment and I was completely cool with that
The "adding an item to the to-do list just to cross it off hack" is one I've done many a time! Helps me to keep perspective that I've not been "wasting" time and not accomplishing things! One of the most wholesome ways to lie...😂
It’s not a lie 😂 Rather, a way to keep perspective more balanced. I suppose you could write down how much time you “wasted” too, but downtime is good for us.
Loved the intro. I like "pre-rewarding" myself by applying a hair mask, or setting out everything I need to do my manicure, or cueing a movie for when I'm finished. An old-fashioned thing I do: I wear an apron! It's not a 1950s wife-y apron, more like a baker's apron, but the moment I put it on, I feel like I'm in business and I need to take my tasks seriously. For efficiency's sake, I always throw a load of laundry and/or something in the slow cooker so those things are getting done while I actively clean. That way, I can feel I've accomplished "sooooo much" in a relatively short amount of time. And I always start with a quick but "pleasurable" task, such as repotting a plant or putting a little makeup on.
I’m a 35 year old dude who hates interior design and yet for some reason your channel was recommended to me when you were blowing up and I haven’t missed a video since…glad to see this one pop up today
Girl that intro was GOLD. I hope the use of that song doesn't de-monetize you, but if it does, just know it brought me SO MUCH JOY. Is that payment enough?! :)
ah im so glad you liked it! i actually bought a license to use the song (via Lickd??? a subscriber recommended it to me actually in a comment and it's been a lifesaver! big recommend
@@Caroline_Winkler i was literally thinking throughout the entire intro "she better have this video sponsored after this song+intro combo!!", so the headspace+this new information, really brought some relief to me as a fellow creative. Thanks for coming back (with a bang!)
Your boyfriend has a big green flag with helping with a task like the trash completely unprompted. My husband has always done stuff like that. He knows I always procrastinate getting gas, so anytime he uses my car (the car we usually cart our kid around in) and my gas is under half a tank, he stops and fills the tank. I don’t have to ask, he just does it. It’s such a loving act of service and I love that you have a boyfriend that is there for you like that.
I like to "rage clean" personally which SOUNDS super intense & violent but it's really just a redirection of energy when I get stressed or upset about something. 🥰
I’m a 49 year old German dude in Thailand. I can’t really relate with most of the content. And yet here I am. I binged almost all your videos and will keep watching them. It’s like listening to a female friend or a niece unloading her thoughts, emotions and problems. Your radical authenticity draws me in. Thank you for being you 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 BTW Loved, looooved the deadpan.
wow, this means the world. i started on youtube just thinking i'd make DIY videos and it's a total mystery and delight to find so many other kinds of people the videos resonate with. thank you.
I used to play and listen to random videos while I cleaned house . I watched action movies! now I play Caroline's videos ! I get new ideas and motivation from them. The videos have chemistry for a lot of people without needing fancy music and gimmicks. Thank you Caroline for the creativity and effort you put in theese videos, they are fun to watch always. ) Greetings from Tijuana México.
OH GIRL!❤❤ I AM AUTISTIC AND ADHD, I HAVE SO MUCH DIFFICULTY DOING THESE TASKS AND YOU SIMPLY STARTED THE VIDEO GIVING TIPS THAT FIT AND ARE POSSIBLE FOR A NEURODIVERGENT PERSON LIKE ME. I WILL USE THIS FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE! ❤❤❤
Hi Caroline, U know what i love about your videos? Everytime I watch a new one, a little young me inside my heart, that got hurt and confused along the way, gets kinda rearranged in the right direction and feels deeply understood and sees, that she was right and lovable - the whole time. You're a total stranger to me, but I feel a universal connection in being human, when I see and hear you expressing your experiences. Thank you for the work and the vulnerability you put in. ❤
@@Caroline_Winkler ❤️ I'm glad! Almost deleted the comment halfway through writing it because I felt shame and didn't want to be weird. And then I remembered the meaning of the words I just wrote and understood how silly it would be to not tell somebody something beautiful I think and feel about them.
I find it so interesting that you mentioned wanting to make a cleaning video but you didnt have "hacks" and were just a normal cleaner - that's what I've been looking for!!! I have so much trouble getting motivated (adhd) and staying motivated (fucked up back) and have no idea what to actually prioritize on a normal day! This video is just what I needed!
omg i actually cried. i always thought i was the only person in the world who could CLEAN! and ORGANIZE! and then everything would fall apart and i would just live in shame for a while as the dirty mugs began to cover the tabletop and my floordrobe took over the bedroom. i thought i was broken....thank you for making me feel okay about it!
honestly i've had a pile of clothes building up in the corner for weeks now and seeing your pile of clothes on the chair and stuffed into the fireplace was honestly really validating so thank you for being so real :) also LOVED the intro haha ALSO HOT TIP FOR CLEANING ONE'S ROOM: start with the bed! if you make the bed first then a) you get the instant gratification of having a large percent of your room suddenly looking neat, b) all the dust gets out of the bed and onto the floor where you can then sweep or vacuum(do last!), and c) now you have a big flat empty surface on which to place other things while you clean, like for when you eventually sort out the clothing situation. hope this helps someone! it also is sometimes overwhelming to know where to start cleaning, so I find that by having one thing (the bed) that I ALWAYS start with, it eliminates that difficulty.
5:41 I just gotta say, your title worked on me. I had no idea who you were but I saw the title in the side bar along with the over the shoulder eye contact and I was like, "Yes, this is the cleaning energy I need. I wonder what the video will be like." I clicked on it, watched the first 3 minutes or so and subscribed. Nice to meet you. lol
@@Caroline_Winkler It was most certainly kismet. I look forward to following you on your future endeavors as well as catching up on some of your older videos when I get the chance; very entertaining.
Okay I've LITERALLY compared myself to my (projected imagining of) you so many times when it comes to home cleanliness. I both have a high standard of cleanliness and very low energy and two very fluffy dogs so live in a constantly "very lived in" state. It was a relief to see pictures of your place also looking lived in, as it's always picture perfect in your videos. One of those moments where it's helpful for my own mental wellbeing to see the reality rather than the curated influencer output (as much as I love that too and appreciate the work you put into making your home look nice for your videos)
Love love love "we are changing, we are evolving" - I love watching this channel, Caroline telling us "it's ok, everything is changing, we are evolving and that is fine"
My best hack, especially, when I don't' want to clean is the "pomodoro timer technique" I take a room at a time or a category (like bathrooms) and put my timer for 25 min. It works like a charm. You had mentioned the technique in another video but I couldn't comment at the time but it's, indeed, very effective.
How did it take me so long to find you?! I love your videos: your vibe, your creativity, and your approach to life. Each time I find myself nodding, laughing, and taking notes. Thank you 🥰❤
Caroline, I never ever comment. But let me tell you, you are silly goofy goose and one of a kind ! There's no other like you. Your spark is so vivid and beautiful, never let anyone tell you other wise and NEVER feel like you have to change. You just make me laugh and smile every damn time with your shit, and I only wish I could meme so hard next to you. Kisses !!!
I am SO grateful to hear someone describe exactly why I hate video calls of any kind! I can never just relax and be myself on most calls because I am so distracted about appearing normal on camera 😅🤣 Pretty insightful, too, that we look at each other too much...I think that's why making friends and hanging out in college was so much easier for me -- we would usually just encounter one another on our way somewhere or while working on something, so there was never any pressure to be weirdly attentive and making intimate eye contact, lol
I can't believe my brain is not alone. I thought I was the only person who thought this way. I love her narrations because it sounds like my ver loud inner monologue
I recently started employing a cleaner because my least favourite part is all of it. Money so well spent. It's not actually the cleaning itself that I resent, just the time it takes when there are so many other things I could be doing. So now I do them while a professional does a better job than me in a fraction of the time.
Yay for the intro! I strongly dislike cleaning - my biggest cleaning hack is to set a five minute timer for each room. I set out the needed cleaning products, set a timer, and then work hard tidying and cleaning the room for five minutes - also blasting early 2000's pop. It gamifies the process, gets me going and lets me prioritise the elements that make the biggest difference first. If the five minutes are gone and I still miss something, I can decide to finish it (which I usually do) or not. Of course this will not give you a deep clean, but it is nice for those in between cleanings, and provides instant gratification. I found the hack somewhere online, but don't recall where.
I get your taking a necessary break. In my biz we call it a sabbatical, or "rest" because as a pastor/minister I'm expected to come up with life-changing sermons every week. But then once a month we have a newsletter...I've already poured out every single profound thought and idea and connected sermon illustration/story, and now I have to write a newsletter article! Hence, a sabbatical is required. And oh my goodness! What an intro! So creative and so well done! Brilliant! AND, what's more, you've inspired me to get to cleaning today, too.
You don't understand how much I love the whole setting something up without telling you it's a setup and then you watch it and you're like OH THAT'S WHY. That's how I felt about the eye contact at the start!!! That was the funniest realisation while hearing you rant about the face time and zoom calls and the **exhausting** nature of them because (!!) of the eye contact. I giggled so hard. On another note I'm so glad you took time for yourself! I missed you, but I love you much more than the missing feeling I felt. So your happiness & sanity are naturally much more important.♥
As someone who lives alone and relies heavily on body-doubling to get things done (usually talking to my sister on the phone), I fully plan to put this video on whenever I need to clean to provide that feeling of someone else cleaning with me 😊 thank you for this!!!
Girl! I am just 44 seconds into your introduction, and you have me literally laughing out loud in front of my computer! Love it! Thank you for being so real. I also set a romantic mood for cleaning, candles, music, etc. I appreciate the thought of not getting down on yourself when it gets messy again. It's just the ebb and flow of life. Thank you for keeping me company, Caroline. I needed it.
I’ll be 56 this month and I’m not sure how the algorithm matched you to my feed, but I’m so glad it did. One of the things that I love about your videos is that they remind me more of how alike we all are, in spite of age and life stages and careers, than focusing on our differences. You also remind me very much of one of my dearest friends from when I was in my 20s and 30s, and it’s almost like I get to hang out with her again. Headspace really helped me when I was going through a divorce after 22 years of marriage 7 years ago. I still use it, but I’ve also added The Tapping Solution app to my mental/emotional health tools. If you’ve never tried it, I recommend it highly. The first few times I tried tapping, it didn’t really do anything for me. But I was having some pretty strong bouts of anxiety and depression about 5/6 years ago and it’s the only thing that actually helped, and it worked even better the worse I felt! I’ve used it daily ever since. Much love to you, and thank you for all you do. ❤
this comment is so meaningful, i feel like that is a great takeaway - the common ground among us. and really glad headspace helped you as much as it did me. im always forcing people to use it. it saved me through multiple breakups for sure. big hug to you
Same story -- how did I end up here? At 58, I dunno but I'm glad I did. It was a long 6 weeks to me.I'm happy she took the time but I missed her like you miss A friend. Fellow anxiety sufferer here also. Since 1970. Ugh. I should definitely try Headspace. The first time I ever heard of tapping I was like "what?!" But I thought well, we essentially tap babies when we pat them so it's pretty fundamental. I'll take A look at the Tapping Solution also. Caroline reminds me of my niece and I love that connection. I still don't know what I am here for comedy, design, advice, cleaning... I just like her so I keep tuning in. I say tuning because I'm 58 and that's what it was called way back when. 🙃
I started " tapping" with the video of Dr Alan Mandell on youtube. It's been 7 months thatbI do it once a day.....and it helped me I so many way. It's not sudden changes, it's more like: oh, it's been jowls over 2 months I sleep 5-6 hours in a row, something that didn't happenned for over 10 years before!!!! Etc.
Omg shoutout to Paige the editor! 😂 Just want to let you know that your effort didn't go unnoticed, lovely bit of editing comedy to put Caroline's bottom center-frame just as she says "or I'll spank you." Subtle yet effective, full marks 😂
laundry hack! if you hang ur clothes to dry after washing them but don't have the energy, you can gather a load and put it into your washing machine without turning it on or getting it wet. then when you do have the energy the next day, all you have to do is turn the machine on, add soap and youre well on your way! adhd friendly bc it breaks up the daunting task of🌩LAUNDRY🌩. the decision of what load to wash/do i have everything in there is taken out of the equation 😊
I want to be your roommate. I hate dusting & vacuuming, but LOVE order & organization to the point of even folding my underwear & storing my wardrobe in packing cubes on shelves in a pie safe instead of a dresser all the time. I do a sweep of the house every night before bed to be certain everything is in its place. I clean & organize my refrigerator weekly while preparing the grocery list. Counters are wiped down after every meal and small appliance behind cabinet doors. I’ve eliminated excess in almost everything, BUT there are cobwebs in my window corners, fingerprints on my light switches and my rugs need to be vacuumed. We all have weaknesses we need to embrace and work on. The first video I watched you was your bedroom makeover with what I thought was ugly wallpaper on the ceiling. When you finished I was amazed at how put together it was and loved every inch of it. You have real talent. I definitely enjoyed your intro to this video. You rock!!! BTW I’m 64 so you have a wide audience!!
you posted this at the EXACT right time omg i had 20 minutes to kill before i needed to leave home and instead of just sitting around wasting time i actually cleaned up stuff that’s been staring me down and making me anxious for WEEKS🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
One cleaning hack that has been helping me recently: I use the reminders app on my phone and I put 4 things that need tending. once I’ve done those four I can press the check and they disappear. Then I write four more things down and do those. After I get some momentum going I just keep cleaning without having to write more down. It’s a good & manageable way to get the ball rolling without feeling overwhelmed! Its helped my house stay clean despite my terrible mental state! Happy cleaning to you all. Caroline. Amazing intro. ❤
whenever i need an extra kick to clean, i set timers and then it's like a race against myself and if i finish, i finish. or sometimes you are motivated to do extra.
Today i binged your content and reorganized a space that felt heavy and not serving me, and I feel so much better and lighter!!! Thanks for being the background to this spring refresh
This video is the equivalent of the drum solo in Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight". You didn't have to go this hard, Caroline, but this video is chef's kiss. Please keep making content until I die. Thanks. ❤
This video had me reflecting on why I watch RUclips... Of course it's for entertainment and inspiration, but also for the company. A point of connection with people you share something with, that is there whenever you need it. Thanks for that. Now I'm going to go pick up my laundry...
Yes, talking to a friend! My friend and I both have Fridays off, so we call each other and do "Chat and Chores." What has also helped me is making a cleaning "Order of Operations" (somehow stresses me less than a "To Do List") that I hang up on the wall while I clean. I found that I tend to get overwhelmed/give up at points when I have to switch activities and I don't know what to do next, so having the list visible helps with those moments. It also lists things in the ideal order, so that I don't get caught in those annoying situations where I've already started the dishwasher and done the hand washing and THEN realize that I still have dirty pans and tupperware in the fridge, etc.
@melmz1046 Ooh, okay! I break it up into two sections, a basic “clearing the decks section” on Thursday night, and then deeper cleaning on Friday when I have more energy and light, and a buddy to talk to. Thursday: • Change sheets/make bed • Put away/start laundry • Put away clean dishes • Clean out fridge • Run dishwasher • Compost any dead flowers and add vase to the handwashing • Wipe off stovetop and put down drying pad • Hand washing • Wipe off counter that is now clear • Neaten/put things away/sort paperwork • Clean off shoes (this is sort of an artifact from Covid when the only way to socialize was walks in the park and my boots were always tracking mud in) • Take out trash/recycling/compost Friday: • Dust surfaces • Clean windows and hallway mirror • Wipe down kitchen appliances • Clear off bathroom counter • Clean bathroom mirror • Wipe down bathroom counter and sink • Put everything back on the counter • Sweep apartment • Scrub toilet • Clean shower/bathtub (While taking a shower! I leave a sponge, Meyers cleaning spray that won’t irritate my skin, and a plastic soup container in the shower for this purpose) • Swiffer/mop the apartment • Finish laundry and dishes I want to emphasize that these lists are an ideal! I rarely complete every step and it often happens at different times of the week or doesn’t get done for weeks at a time. But I have found that keeping things in this basic order, even if I decide to skip dusting or whatever, continues to make sense and keeps me on track. I also live alone in a studio apartment, so I don’t have to deal with anyone else’s mess or schedule (but also I don’t have anyone to share chores with).
Just wanted to say THANK YOU for showing your humanness always, and in fact embracing it. I am like this and I often struggle with the self loathing at the slob I can be sometimes. You're the best, an inspiration! ❤
Caroline, you are such a comfort. ❤ God bless you for making this amazing video about something so mundane and necessary that everyone on the planet can empathize with. I have always been a very tidy, clean and organized person. But I swear, I fall into these bouts of disorder, chaos, and grunge that is just embarrassing and hard to dig myself out of. For whatever reason, they happen a bit more frequently than I’d like. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing your cleaning video! Such an inspiration! Now I know for certain that I’m not alone! Your apartment is always so beautiful in your videos… I would have never dreamed you had any cleaning issues. lol… Personally, my least favorite task is vacuuming and laundry. Thank you for being so vulnerable with all of us. You are so loved and appreciated! ❤
I need you to know that I absolutely love your casual vlogs, I want to be a fly sitting on your shoulder going with you wherever or just hanging out at your apartment while you cook, or do hauls, or clean, literally anything. PLEASE.
aw good! i loveeee making them! over my time off i was really reflecting on new ways i want to film vlogs. one of my first ideas was to do one like this with voiceover-only, no talking. i love something about that. but ill be back and chattering hard soon :)
I just found your channel and watched the "You're doing home organization WRONG." from two years ago. You were single and imagining being married. This is my second video of yours to watch. It's amazing how happy you are saying "my boyfriend...". I'm glad for you. It's so amazing to see the changes from two years to 6 months ago. I subscribed and can't wait to watch more of your videos and improve my life while watching yours.
love the instant gratification hack and that adorable bow in your hair 😻 i have one additional hack you probably didn't think to mention because it's too obvious for someone with such a beautiful home, but: really curating everything we own and making sure we love every single thing (or as many items as possible) is a great motivation for cleaning/caring for stuff. it's an added chance to touch and look at the things really 😊 also please don't ever feel pressured to make more videos. we want you to be happy and we are okay with missing you every once in a while. makes the return even sweeter ❤
I never thought of cleaning as a way to enjoy our things. I really like that. I’m going to go dust my shelves I’ve been putting off. Now I get to enjoy my treasures!! Thank you.
After THREE attempts, I finally finished the video!!! Will definitively hear podcasts while cleaning. I usually just grit my teeth in silence and do it, but it gives me even LESS motivation to actually do it, and I end up getting distracted. So I'll find a "cleaning podcast" so that I have another reason for cleaning. It is quite obvious now that you've said it...But cleaning really IS a selfcare process. It made me remember the difference between "Self-indulgence" and "Self-care" Thanks for this fun video
Sometimes I come back to this video just to watch the intro again. The stare while vacuuming the fridge lives rent free in my head. What a masterpiece.
Props for putting your pre-cleaning apartment on the internet, that takes guts! I'm glad you took a break. Really loved how silly the video was, I hope you enjoyed making at least half as much as I enjoyed watching it. I often feel I have to clean immediately, or it won't get done, but I've been "building reputation with myself" and trusting myself to take care of it in a few minutes or later that day and it's working out so far! Also congrats on getting Headspace as a sponsor that is huge!
I was honestly hoping for 16 minutes of cleaning music videos. That intro was everything I never knew I needed. PS- I love how 'lived in' your space is. For several years I've fallen victim to the ultraminimalist style where none of my things can be out in the open and everything has to be precisely organized and tidy and that has absolutely not served me. It certainly hasn't brought the comfort and calm I thought it would. I'm working towards having my space be more a reflection of my personality and showing signs of life (like having my books out on display instead of banished to a closet and also I love how you've got your fragrances on your mantel so I'm stealing that one). I shall be following your example from now on.
I have a lot of cleaning to do today and was feeling overwhelmed, this video came at the perfect time for me. Caroline, I'm so glad you got a break, and thanks for the inspiration and motivation.
I am actually going through a mental health crisis myslef in which i compulsively compare myself to anyone who has something "better" than me. So when I saw this video I thouch "oh great, more fule to the fire. She has a perfect apartment that's always pristine and I'm over here, 2 days after last cleaning and living in filth already". What a relief to see that other people have a similar level of disarray. I'll try to hold on to that feeling at least until tomrrow ;) Also, swiffer duster is amazing. Maybe not as cute as your duster but super effective.
All the comments say it all! Caroline, you are working your comic genius in a way that is motivating, engaging, and heartwarming. That intro! Shout out to you and your editor. Wow. I love the slow mo... Everything is on point. Thank you for the thought and work you put into each video. Also, I love you and Jess' podcast. ❤
@@Caroline_Winkler I shared your video with my daughter 25 son 23 both just turned 🎂🎈 we all each have ocd and anxiety. You are very very much like we feel and I appreciate your candor. Love you from 🇨🇦🤩👍🫂🕊️
I’ve just discovered this channel today. Did not know who Caroline was before. I was just looking for organization ideas and clicked on one of her vids. I’ve decided the universe put this channel in front of me to discover that there’s another version of myself out there. So, this video in particular is eerily full of coincidences. I’ve had the same exact book on my nightstand for years. Same espresso machine with the same Chobani extra creamy oat milk. I have the same antique dresser, too. It’s actually a bit creepy, maybe. One thing, though: I don’t use Headspace, I use Balance (they’re essentially the same thing). 😂 I also had a massive, horrible break up in 2017. Eeuuugghhh so much more stuff…she’s basically saying all the things I say. And same music loves ❤ No Galentines day, but my bestie and I celebrate Swissmus, which is a holiday we made up that’s like Christmas, but occurs any time of year and also multiple times at random. We both have a tendency to obtain gifts for one another but then forget to send them until years later. So we made this up for when we find a random thing we want to give to the other person, and send it right then so we don’t forget. That’s Swissmus. Highly recommend. I’m not sure if I should be amused or concerned by the similarities, but somehow, I’m actually just comforted…because I tend to think I’m the only me. So weird.
Oh, hey! So, Caroline. It’s been a week now. I’ve watched several of your videos, and *now* I know that you actually read the comments. I was embarrassed to see you ❤ my comment at first but now I’m good with it. Two things: Uno: Parlo un po italiano, e Due: Vorrei che tu fossi mia amica! Okay, I’m not that good at Italian, so I hope I didn’t just ask you to be my girlfriend. Just friends. But yeah, ho vissuto a Lugano, Svizzera in 2006…it was a while back so I’m not great with Italian but I’m still practicing it ogni giorno perché ho lasciato il mio cuore a Ticino… at least it feels like a part of me is still there, waiting for me to come home. Comunque….I promise I’m not a stalker. Life just be weirdly coincidental sometimes. Friend or not, your videos are inspiring and really helping me shake off this year’s winter funk. Thank you 😊
Happy to see a new video after your well deserved break! I have been wanting to write you something for a while now. I have ADHD (diagnosed at 32) and possibly ASD and have a strong and good radar for when others might be neurodivergent too. And you show a lot of symptoms! I am writing this just after I heard you saying that you don't like looking people in the eyes and that you can't really listen to people when facetiming them. That's very typical for ADHD/ASD. Also many other things you said about yourself. You have wondered in an old video about whether you might have ADD and I was saying to the screen, "Yes, you might! That's very typical!" 😅 And as neurodivergeny is extremely hereditary it makes sense that some of your family members look like they might be neurodivergent too. You have mentioned trying anti-depressents and that they didn't always work for you. I can only recommend checking if you might be neurodivergent. ADHD-medication has helped me so much with my depression - it was a life saver! Although I also have to say that not all ADHD medication is the same and not everybody needs the same dosage. The second medication was much better for me and I also found out that I am very sensitive to it, so I need less than the recommended amount. So it makes sense to experiment if it's not right away. Anyway, thanks for your videos! Much love from another Angelika, but from Germany. :)
YES! I second this! From the first video I watched of hers, I was like ADHD at least, on the neurodivergent spectrum, definitely. Neurospicy brains unite! haha
The award for the best intro video goes to Caroline Winkler! I’m so happy you’re back! I also like watching cleaning videos it is relaxing to watch and I never thought of it calming my anxiety. Can’t wait for next video.
I actually started to clean while watching this video. For ADHDer having someone keeping us company during domestic chores is the best help! I personally wouldn’t mind 1 hour long videos.
Try putting a small roll of garbage bags in each waste basket. Pull out the full bag tearing it off, underneath is the new bag waiting to be slipped over the rim in place. We use this in our nursing homes, when garbage has to be removed from every room at the end of each shift.
OMG! I was just thinking about you today and was hoping for a video. I was actually at the gym, listening to some songs you suggested, and was hoping you would give us some more workout songs soon! 🥰
Going to download Spotify just for your podcast ! Either I’m cleaning or driving or really need some insight on interior design, I just really really enjoy listening to you , it’s fun and soothing and refreshing ! Can’t get enough ♥️
First the dead pan cleaning is hilarious ….and second I never thought of combining things like pampering myself with cleaning (thinking mops and strong cleaners). But it sounds like just what I need to help me get going. Genius!
We've missed you!! If you're interested in possible video ideas from a fellow 30smth girlie living alone, may I suggest: -how to come up with a legitimate weekly/daily cleaning list -how to transfer from the college dorm mismatched furniture life to something more curated, but in a realistic and affordable way -how to hang things! As a single person, I find it so daunting to measure and hold and mark and hammer and all the things that go into hanging something heavy by myself. But the command strips can't hold up much :/ -in the same vein, painting and wallpapering in an accessible way (as a renter), as well as changing door handles -what small changes can we do to make our space more cohesive? It's scary to get rid of things as a poor person 😬 -How to find an "aesthetic"- like we know everything doesn't need to matchy match but it's difficult to have the vision of what might look good in my space. The difference between peaceful eclectic and just a hodgepodge of ish we haven't gotten rid of -the "must haves" of living alone Girlie, I've got so many ideas! And I hope this comment doesn't come across as rude or pushy- I'm just a 32yo living alone intentionally for the first time, I work on my feet 40hrs a week, while making minimum wage, have fairly severe ADHD, and just want my space to look and feel like my home. I spend a lot of time watching cleaning videos, browsing home decor Pinterest, scrolling the interior design subreddits, but I hardly ever end up making the plunge into doing anything more permanent in my home. I know this comment likely is a mess as I'm writing it on an old-school tablet, getting ready for work, and keeping one eye on reruns of RHONY (this episode is bethenny reuniting with her father in s7) SO, please pardon any spelling or grammar mistakes. I will likely be commenting on my own post with more ideas, too 😶
@@Caroline_Winkler someone suggested on another vid how to "hide"/work with the things that are necessary but not pretty: air purifiers, humidifiers, trash cans? things you don't want seen but need in your home. also seconding the comment above!
Thank you for making this ❤ Where I live, most middle class people are able to - and do - employ people to clean their homes. That's how I grew up. When I moved out, I was suddenly in a different city with a house to take care of, and it was totally overwhelming. I wanted to save money and I could also not stand the idea of someone being in my home for hours at a time working while I wasn't helping them, so I decided to be unconventional and do the cleaning myself. While it was overwhelming at first (there are quirks about the home that make certain areas difficult to clean), I learned a lot and it was one of the best things I could have done to help me settle into the new place. It was once I learned where the dust gathered and the paint chipped and the floor got scuffed that the place began to feel like home.
Started this video aimlessly just because I love your energy and I needed a distraction/ reset… and then somehow I ended up tidying and cleaning without even realizing it! 😂 And wouldn’t you know, my anxiety is already lower 😌✨✌🏼 thanks for existing 💅🏼🎉🤍
That intro is the best thing on the whole of RUclips. Ever.
over my time away i realized mostly what i was missing was sean paul
I love when she does this! Her tipsy intro from Jkwon for working out got me to subscribe instantly from never having heard of her before.
Caroline's deadpan is the best shit ever lol lol
@@Caroline_WinklerSean Paul would LOVE YOU!❤❤❤
@wayasaunooke3424 I totally agree!!!
So true!
my house is a mess, and I guess I just need this.
We just want to watch you while you live, what can I say 🤷🏽😂
My favorite RUclipsrs don’t understand that they could basically do the same video updated every year with their new AV equipment and I would gobble that shit up.
That’s the whole reason I’m here🥲❤️❤️❤️❤️🤙🤙🤙🤙
Okay, but that intro actually gave me a bit of motivation to clean. I genuinely thought that was just gonna be the whole video for a moment and I was completely cool with that
Im turned on and i want that woman❤
It gave me the motivation to dance lol
Same here 😂😭
Same 😂
Same and going to see if there is a friend to call
The "adding an item to the to-do list just to cross it off hack" is one I've done many a time! Helps me to keep perspective that I've not been "wasting" time and not accomplishing things! One of the most wholesome ways to lie...😂
It’s not a lie 😂 Rather, a way to keep perspective more balanced. I suppose you could write down how much time you “wasted” too, but downtime is good for us.
I start my todo list off with things I already did 😂
Apparently a to do list that's already been done is known as a "ta da" list hahah
Caroline: "here's a hack, get someone else to do the chore you don't like"
😂
😂
This why I bought a robot vacuum/mop combo. Found a friend who will do my chores for me 😂
It’s a great hack! I would gladly make a deal with someone to do their vacuuming in return for them taking the trash out.
Like my teenager. 😂
And I always start with a quick but "pleasurable" task, such as repotting a plant or putting a little makeup on.
that's wondeeful. such an amazing tip. thank you. will try immediatly!!🎉
I’m a 35 year old dude who hates interior design and yet for some reason your channel was recommended to me when you were blowing up and I haven’t missed a video since…glad to see this one pop up today

What you were referring to early on is called rage cleaning!! 😂

I wanna watch this intro again and again! This is going to be the next big thing: Artsy-strange-upbeat-cleaning Videos!!!😅
The prolonged eye contact is amazing 😂😂😂😂
She is exquisite unobtainium!
I was looking for this comment. LOL

This is how I feel too. Caroline is a kindred spirit. When I see she has the same Weleda skin cream as me, it warms my heart. Silly, I know!

Literally what I thought too! Guaranteed she's neurodivergent too from what I've seen of her.
Hi Caroline,
U know what i love about your videos? Everytime I watch a new one, a little young me inside my heart, that got hurt and confused along the way, gets kinda rearranged in the right direction and feels deeply understood and sees, that she was right and lovable - the whole time.
You're a total stranger to me, but I feel a universal connection in being human, when I see and hear you expressing your experiences. Thank you for the work and the vulnerability you put in. ❤
one of the most beautiful things someone has ever written to me on here. and you know on some level it is very much the same for me
@nimisty625 you've said, beautifully, how I feel too!
I can relate to your comments. Witnessing Caroline's humanity is very healing.
@@Caroline_Winkler ❤️ I'm glad! Almost deleted the comment halfway through writing it because I felt shame and didn't want to be weird. I find it so interesting that you mentioned wanting to make a cleaning video but you didnt have "hacks" and were just a normal cleaner - that's what I've been looking for!!! omg i actually cried. i always thought i was the only person in the world who could CLEAN! and ORGANIZE! and then everything would fall apart and i would just live in shame for a while as the dirty mugs began to cover the tabletop and my floordrobe took over the bedroom. i thought i was broken....thank you for making me feel okay about it!
Same. This IS my normal.
Please check out Remi Clog- she's very much someone who takes the shame away and instead, offers understanding and encouragement!
@@GINGERBREADWHY yes! I also love Remi, and ADHDlove (Rich&Rox) 💗
Oh my goodness, I have never seen an intro that good ever in anything ever in the whole world. Speechless.
honestly i've had a pile of clothes building up in the corner for weeks now and seeing your pile of clothes on the chair and stuffed into the fireplace was honestly really validating so thank you for being so real :) also LOVED the intro haha
ALSO HOT TIP FOR CLEANING ONE'S ROOM: start with the bed! if you make the bed first then a) you get the instant gratification of having a large percent of your room suddenly looking neat, b) all the dust gets out of the bed and onto the floor where you can then sweep or vacuum(do last!), and c) now you have a big flat empty surface on which to place other things while you clean, like for when you eventually sort out the clothing situation. hope this helps someone! it also is sometimes overwhelming to know where to start cleaning, so I find that by having one thing (the bed) that I ALWAYS start with, it eliminates that difficulty.
Agreed. And then you get the added bonus at the end of a long day to sleep in nice, freshly laundered linens, like a luxe hotel. Ultimate self-care!
ok start with the bed is SO correct
I also loved that part about celebrating small wins. Seems silly but it's actually huge psychologically (:
Also if you decide after the bed is done that you've had enough at some other point, bed is still done and you have somewhere to retreat
Best intro ever! Also totally love 'wow I put a bag in that hard to reach spot. I'm a hero.' Completely agree, celebrate the small achievements!
Nice to meet you. lol
wow bless. ok maybe we have the same mind. it's the only title i want to see on youtube and no one was making it, so here we are
@@Caroline_Winkler It was most certainly kismet.
Love love love "we are changing, we are evolving" - I love watching this channel, Caroline telling us "it's ok, everything is changing, we are evolving and that is fine"
i'll kiss ya
My best hack, especially, when I don't' want to clean is the "pomodoro timer technique" I take a room at a time or a category (like bathrooms) and put my timer for 25 min. It works like a charm. You had mentioned the technique in another video but I couldn't comment at the time but it's, indeed, very effective.
I think there's some science behind side by side conversations. Long car ride convos are the best!
greatttt for dates too
How did it take me so long to find you?!

Kisses !!!
I truly needed this today ❤
I am SO grateful to hear someone describe exactly why I hate video calls of any kind! I can never just relax and be myself on most calls because I am so distracted about appearing normal on camera 😅🤣
Pretty insightful, too, that we look at each other too much...I think that's why making friends and hanging out in college was so much easier for me -- we would usually just encounter one another on our way somewhere or while working on something, so there was never any pressure to be weirdly attentive and making intimate eye contact, lol
That beginning sequence is my new favorite thing ever. Sean Paul is good for the soul.
he is our hero
@@Caroline_Winklerthe real hack 🫶
Your disdain for eye contact really resonated with me and my neurospicy mind. Loved the intro, another Caroline masterpiece!❤
"Neurospicy" is a wonderful word :-)
Right?!! That was hilarious! She came back with a bang, or a slap. ;)
I agree with everything you said in your second paragraph. Well put.
aw god im so relieved. it just feels good to be back! thanks to everyone for their patience!!
At first I thought the intro might be the whole video, and I was totally down for it. Hands down best intro ever. 🙌🏼
Etc.
Ditto! Same age and divorced 8 years ago. Loving this channel and also been tapping off and on for awhile! ❤

laundry hack! if you hang ur clothes to dry after washing them but don't have the energy, you can gather a load and put it into your washing machine without turning it on or getting it wet. then when you do have the energy the next day, all you have to do is turn the machine on, add soap and youre well on your way! adhd friendly bc it breaks up the daunting task of🌩LAUNDRY🌩. the decision of what load to wash/do i have everything in there is taken out of the equation 😊
YES! I’m a mom of 5 and I do this…often. 😂😅
That’s actually really helpful, it’s simple yet I’ve never thought to do it, it really takes ALOT of the pressure off
I want to be your roommate.
If you want to live in Australia, and you like dogs, i might have a spare room...

you posted this at the EXACT right time omg i had 20 minutes to kill before i needed to leave home and instead of just sitting around wasting time i actually cleaned up stuff that’s been staring me down and making me anxious for WEEKS🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
So thank you. I was sobbing my eyes out having one of those negative thought spirals and the intro to your video made me smile and helped so much.
I've added "vacuum front of fridge" as my first task. Boom.

This video had me reflecting on why I watch RUclips... Of course it's for entertainment and inspiration, but also for the company. A point of connection with people you share something with, that is there whenever you need it. Thanks for that. Now I'm going to go pick up my laundry...
Yes, talking to a friend! My friend and I both have Fridays off, so we call each other and do "Chat and Chores."
What has also helped me is making a cleaning "Order of Operations" (somehow stresses me less than a "To Do List") that I hang up on the wall while I clean.
What’s on your list, what order?
@melmz1046 Ooh, okay! I break it up into two sections, a basic “clearing the decks section” on Thursday night, and then deeper cleaning on Friday when I have more energy and light, and a buddy to talk to.
Thursday:
• Change sheets/make bed
• Put away/start laundry
• Put away clean dishes
• Clean out fridge
• Run dishwasher
• Compost any dead flowers and add vase to the handwashing
• Wipe off stovetop and put down drying pad
• Hand washing
• Wipe off counter that is now clear
• Neaten/put things away/sort paperwork
• Clean off shoes (this is sort of an artifact from Covid when the only way to socialize was walks in the park and my boots were always tracking mud in)
• Take out trash/recycling/compost
Friday:
• Dust surfaces
• Clean windows and hallway mirror
• Wipe down kitchen appliances
• Clear off bathroom counter
• Clean bathroom mirror
• Wipe down bathroom counter and sink
• Put everything back on the counter
• Sweep apartment
• Scrub toilet
• Clean shower/bathtub (While taking a shower! I leave a sponge, Meyers cleaning spray that won’t irritate my skin, and a plastic soup container in the shower for this purpose)
• Swiffer/mop the apartment
• Finish laundry and dishes
I want to emphasize that these lists are an ideal!

For whatever reason, they happen a bit more frequently than I’d like. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing your cleaning video! Such an inspiration! Now I know for certain that I’m not alone! i have one additional hack you probably didn't think to mention because it's too obvious for someone with such a beautiful home, but: really curating everything we own and making sure we love every single thing (or as many items as possible) is a great motivation for cleaning/caring for stuff. it's an added chance to touch and look at the things really 😊
also please don't ever feel pressured to make more videos. we want you to be happy and we are okay with missing you every once in a while. makes the return even sweeter ❤

It made me remember the difference between "Self-indulgence" and "Self-care"

This is what happens when we show our anxiety compassion. Absolute love
I was still recovering from your intro in the truth about living alone, and then you come at us with This intro. Girl, you're killing it.
You bring a different spin to what everybody else is doing and is way better. Loved that! 👏🏻🤍
W A Y better!!
You never asked him to take out your garbage, he just did it because he knows you hate it. DON'T LET THIS MAN GO!
The opening cleaning montage was 1 minute and 3 seconds of perfection
This intro is everything
Loved this! Never lose your sense of humour. It's genius and delightful!
too sweet, ty!
I'll try to hold on to that feeling at least until tomrrow ;)
Also, swiffer duster is amazing.
😅😂 me! I spit out my drink at your opening Carolyn! Thanks for that! Now I have to CLEAN 🤩👍😳🤦♀️🥃🥃🥃
ahh! just here to inspire you to spit! TY!
@@Caroline_Winkler I shared your video with my daughter 25 son 23 both just turned 🎂🎈 we all each have ocd and anxiety. You are very very much like we feel and I appreciate your candor. Love you from 🇨🇦🤩👍🫂🕊️
@@Caroline_Winkler yet another great quote for merch "just here to inspire you to spit!" 😂
And same music loves ❤
No Galentines day, but my bestie and I celebrate Swissmus, which is a holiday we made up that’s like Christmas, but occurs any time of year and also multiple times at random.
Two things:
Uno: Parlo un po italiano, e
Due: Vorrei che tu fossi mia amica!
That's very typical!" 😅
And as neurodivergeny is extremely hereditary it makes sense that some of your family members look like they might be neurodivergent too.
THANK YOU for being on my feed again! I missed you 🥺!
ugh i missed you too dangit
I actually started to clean while watching this video. For ADHDer having someone keeping us company during domestic chores is the best help! I personally wouldn’t mind 1 hour long videos.
I’m so excited!!! I’ve been waiting for a new video and today my house got flooded so this is cheering me up!!! 🎉
Wow!
Hope you can salvage what you need.
Sorry to hear about the flooding😢 be well❤
Try putting a small roll of garbage bags in each waste basket.
BEST.INTRO.EVER🔥
First the dead pan cleaning is hilarious ….and second I never thought of combining things like pampering myself with cleaning (thinking mops and strong cleaners). But it sounds like just what I need to help me get going. Genius!
We've missed you!! If you're interested in possible video ideas from a fellow 30smth girlie living alone, may I suggest:
-how to come up with a legitimate weekly/daily cleaning list
-how to transfer from the college dorm mismatched furniture life to something more curated, but in a realistic and affordable way
-how to hang things! As a single person, I find it so daunting to measure and hold and mark and hammer and all the things that go into hanging something heavy by myself. But the command strips can't hold up much :/
-in the same vein, painting and wallpapering in an accessible way (as a renter), as well as changing door handles
-what small changes can we do to make our space more cohesive? It's scary to get rid of things as a poor person 😬
-How to find an "aesthetic"- like we know everything doesn't need to matchy match but it's difficult to have the vision of what might look good in my space. The difference between peaceful eclectic and just a hodgepodge of ish we haven't gotten rid of
-the "must haves" of living alone
Girlie, I've got so many ideas!
I will likely be commenting on my own post with more ideas, too 😶
Start a channel! I’d watch.
i really love love this list. thank you!!! esp the small changes in your space. adding these to my list for ideation!
@@Caroline_Winkler someone suggested on another vid how to "hide"/work with the things that are necessary but not pretty: air purifiers, humidifiers, trash cans? things you don't want seen but need in your home. also seconding the comment above!
I'm thirding:)
I appreciate you, your practicality and realness, thank you Caroline🇦🇺🦘🐨
AHHH missed youuu here!! Hope you had a wonderful break!
the edits for your videos are so perfect - especially the intros and this intro in particular - i'm a fan
Thank you so much for all you do! I do need some cleaning inspiration also😅
