Saltwater Angler Always enjoy the videos, particularly the one you did recently in Seaton, as I lure fish along the coast towards Sidmouth as often as I can get down there, which unfortunately is not often enough!!
Very true we’re lucky on my patch with the established Hastings angling , anglers den and the great Tony’s tackle. (Tony is the real deal by the way possibly the all round angler with the results to prove it) and I buy local when I can
Hi great video as usual I was fishing there few years ago an old chap gave me a tip at the time I thought really lol wow his tip was fantastic he said use cockles for bait I was pulling in black bream most of the day about 1/2 a mile left of the pier cheers tight lines pal
Great video once again.A few plaice come out last night at chesil in a Match also had them Friday night at midway path Poole Dorset.we are also still getting Sole here. I always salt my left over rag and lug great for the winter.
I like your videos Matt, you concentrate your camera more on the rod tip indicating the bite than others. Watching fisherman just reeling in fish is boring. Your tips are good too !
Yes I like to keep the gear out the wind and also depending which way the tides running you can cast either side of the groyne. There is more movement of water at the end of the groyne too so a good place to aim the baits , very often as water runs past it it scoures the sea bed and makes fish holding features. So both edges of the groyne fishing down tide so when I retrieve the rig comes back away from the obstruction
Hi dunno if u could help I'm looking at getting into new fishing rods and reels but it's what to get as I find I carnt cast 12ft and 13ft rods very well I have tried a couple off my dads older rods and I I'm not doing very well with them I domt know if it could be something to do with the weight off them as they feel kinda stiff ann a little heavy so I'm only using a cheap Shakespeare 10ft mackerel what I'm finding ok I like it because its light but would like to get abit futher with casting and would like to get something abit better quality is there anything u could advise on I was recommended on
Continental rods might solve your problem here, you can get some really good quality light rods that are easy to cast. Have a look at Brian doing over the ground casts here; ruclips.net/video/8Sh1EI-AIWE/видео.html I recently tried a few rods from the yuki range and they are so light and easy to cast. A lot depends on where you fish , conditions and ground but a conti rod designed for up to 4oz could be brilliant for you
Are conti rods still ok to use when tied is turning in and can they still be used in most weather conditions and sea conditions just not when it's very bad out Im so tempted to buy a conti rod I've been looking at the new akios fury rod just not sure how good they are in weather condition as I dont know an awful lot about sea fishing I've heard alot say there easy to cast with just hope I could manage one if I was to get ome properly would go 14ft not 15t have u heard off the Shakespeare agility sea tipsters before I know they can be used for sea fishing and tbh the conti rods look alot more beefy and robust so I'm I'm getting closer to buy one
Lovely days fishing that's really whetted my appetite to get out for a bash later in the week. That is if Boris doesn't spoil the fun with another lock down up here in Liverpool.
Love Eastbourne, Try to go every year For the airshow, been Lucky a few times going to fish as well, Best Rig I have found to use here is A Pennel And Running Ledger, At some point You Will have to Come to Dungeoness, Catch Some Dogs and bass :)
Thanks James , that air shows a blast I remember a stealth bomber one year still get goosebumps now ! I do make an annual trip to dungee and fish bottom of the boats will be there this winter
@@SaltwaterAngler will have too see if I can make it over Dungeoness In the winter, I usually fish Just Infront of the bird watching hut, Aiming Towards the Nearby Wreck bouy
Braid is really bad when rubbing on rocks but quality matters and a great braid beats a cheap mono. Depends where your fishing I’d use mono on deep rock marks but other than that 50lb braid is my choice.
Nice update thanks Matt! Errr, 4 seconds in, you dated the video at 19th October 2020? Have you invested in a time machine? 😂😂 Nice brace of Plaice! Nooooo, not the end of the Vertix rod? Bad news, fellow Vertix man! What was that you pointed out going through the sky at about 12:20? Good session - nice to see so many Plaice still around - none down here! Stay safe & well. 👍😁
Time machine available think I’ll use it to get out of 2020 ! In the sky was one of those party balloons off to trap wildlife and add to the plastic pollution. Yes on the rod will have to get another decent one all my beach rods have something wrong with them now be it broken tips or cracked spigots! Thanks for the comment

Thanks yes it’s a £60 rod but there is a significant jump with a £120 and again £200 plus. I personally couldn’t fish with it as a main rod much more fun fishing with a lighter more powerful rod. My advice would be to pay a bit more
You are right, i never buy plaice before June. People do not realise that sea fish have breeding seasons. If you try and eat your catch it can be disappointing. Those ones you caught looked supurb eating
great vid,,,, just out of interest, want to start using a live bait as loads of small whiting being caught, what size treble hooks do you use this is the best?
No not really but it helps when there’s a sandbank and with this soggy rod I had to put a bit more work in ! A lot depends on tide and depth ofcourse. I tend to be more steady with the multiplier thanks for the comment
My personal trick is being distracted and casting with the bale arm half cocked or closed completely and either slamming it all into the ground or throwing the lead off

@@pjsmoggy963 You would have to check that. A lot of oil in tins of sardines is not fish oil. better to just buy pure fish oil. Just thought. Buy a cheap mackerel blend it then squeeze out the juice. Fish oil can be expensive.
@@michaelodwyer5305 I, take your point. The oil in canned fish is usually Sun flower or Olive oil, it becomes infused with the odour of the fish, so I think it's viable to use on bait. You can catch throughout winter but I stop towards the end of January because too much effort is required. October the peak month for big fish if conditions are suitable

Yes I like to keep the gear out the wind and also depending which way the tides running you can cast either side of the groyne. What size rods do you use, not sure what is the best all round size for on the beach?
hard to give an all round size , where do you fish ? UK waters usually require something tahts will cast a 5 oz lead at times
