    Hi Peter,
    My wife and i are huge fans, and follow your content closely (from NYC). We were especially excited for this episode as I'm a Venezuelan who immigrated in 2013 and my wife is a Russian Jew who immigrated from the Ukraine as a child in 1988. Though the episode was great as were the people you interviewed we hope you'd consider a part 2 like you've done with other communities as there is so much to explore and still learn about the Venezuelan community and the current crises of those coming over. The more people interviewed the better perspective your viewers will get, there are so many important stories to be heard right now we hope you consider this. Thank you for all of your great work, always looking forward to seeing where it takes you.

    23:44 "Don't be afraid to be free" This gave me chills!
    I feel that in our country right now, we are losing some freedoms with censorship and one sided media to name a few.
    There are many people who'd rather control and censor speech for fear of "misinformation" and yet they think that the media's one sided representation of things and their omission of stories like this is "free speech".
    Venezuelans who left were able to see what their country would look like in the future. Our country may be strong but we are not immune to bad leadership or loss of freedom. Let's not get complacent.

    • @JB-pd3ir
      @JB-pd3ir Год назад

      Th argument of safety over freedom has one that China has been putting forth forever, Before Xi came into power the argument was they can never move to a type of government like the U.S. because it would be too chaotic. etc (so safety first) but now after Xi came into power as he does not disguise that he wants to have full power this argument I have not even heard / seen discussed anymore.
      Anyway freedom does have risks but if you want to make everything "safe" you will be building a prison.

    • @JB-pd3ir
      @JB-pd3ir Год назад

      "we are not immune to bad leadership or loss of freedom" We are certainly not as we have been loosing freedoms steadily since 911. Right now we are trusting that the leadership will be benign but we have given away to much so that if we get a seriously they now have the tools to move our country more toward a totalitarian state.

    My wife of 27 years came to the USA in the early 90's so our oldest son is the age of the 26 year old woman you first interviewed. Like that couple, my wife is Venezuelan and I'm a Midwestern white boy. She came on her own. A desire she had from her youth, and with little to no money. We fell in love while walking around the lakes in St Paul Minnesota. Naturally, we were at a lake when I asked her to marry me while standing on a dock. When she said "yes" I asked her "should we jump in?" She nodded yes so we jumped, fully clothed, hand in hand, into the water. To this day I can still recall her beautiful face coming up out of the water, like a wonderous Naiad! Anyways, we loved visiting Venezuela in the late 90's any early 2000's but unfortunately, not anymore. The majority of her nieces and nephews (aged mid twenties) have left Venezuela for other South American countries like Argentina or Peru to start new lives outside the country. How sad 😥. It seems to me that Oil Wealth ruins economies wherever that evil black gold is found! Take North Dakota recently as an example here. But enough of that! We have to drive 45 minutes to get a "Venezuelan" aripa here!! That's a problem!

    Great video! Love seeing all the different cultures and things around the US. Another really interesting ethnic people that's nearby Miami is the Miccosukee tribe in the everglades (recommend checking out their reservation and area great people). Try gator and some of their food while your there it's great. Also, a small group of old Florida Southerners that grew up and have an airboat club. They are known as the last of the Everglades cowboys, a dying breed of Florida Cowboys. So recommend checking out both of them while your down in Florida. :D

      @pierre pouget the point is that originally that one person in charge probably had good intentions until they became corrupted. The problem is that once the person in charge becomes corrupted typically fair elections never materialize. Bottom line, it is the corruption of one human heart, being in power at the right time to create a tragedy.

    Wepa! Half my people! Great video Peter. You've got some trolls in here, you know you're doing great work when the Venezuelan government starts paying trolls to come on your videos to comment. I hope people can learn from Venezuelans' experiences. They thought it would never happen to them. They lived comfortably in their own country, which was once beautiful and rich. People of all walks of life were educated, because it was readily accessible, and the culture valued educated people. People from other Latin American countries used to come in droves to Venezuela. Americans need to learn from this. Never say never. It can happen to us here if we are not careful.

    I think that was a very good point made in the car between a completely socialist government and having socialist programs. Far too often there are people that try to spread fear of socialism taking over whenever socialist programs are spoken of and that is just not the case. A free capital market economy can exist together with socialist programs in place. There are many successful examples of this seen all over the world.

Sadder than anything I’ve seen in Miami. I feel so terrible for the children I saw living in the sides of highways in Colombia. You should really look into that. Nothing in this video was eye opening or shocking, but seeing whole Venezuelan families begging in Colombia opened my eyes and broke my heart. When I go back to Colombia I hope to help them. You should really do a video about that. But you’ll definitely need a translator. Btw, Colombian arepas are better!
