I love this fake issue. There's a super cheap and simple solution to border security, however,if the border were secure,there would be less for politicians to platform on,this includes all local government as well. There's too much money to be made in border insecurity. There's a very simple,cheap and effective way to secure our border and it doesn't require the use of a wall, violence or even the current number of patrolling agents. Again, politicians, including local politicians , absolutely do not want border security. They want you all to keep fighting over it. Great video...I am a retired U.S. Border Patrol Agent and yes, I also did some time in Cochise County/Douglas/Naco in the late 90's, early 2000's. This video reporting is beyond accurate and I am quite sure that it is far worse now than it was in my time in the patrol. It breaks my heart to this day at the memories of dead men, women and especially children abandoned out in the middle of nowhere; or dead in vehicle accidents, bodies strewn all over the highways and Interstates. Don't even get me started about the child sex trafficking victims we interdicted. Cartels: Disgusting, inhuman POS's. Our elected officials in D.C. should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this travesty of justice to happen and continue to happen. JMHO. Honor First

You know, I always wanted to ask a border agent about something. I spent a lot of time on the large border ranches in south tx. You know, 30-40k acres that you can easily drive right into Mexico on them with no border security. The border patrol would always leave the ranches at sunset and go sit in town. But the real thing I'd like your opinion on here is, multiple times as I went through, the gate guards would tell me there was a mule crossing that night and stay away from them. Their words exactly "They will kill you". Why did the gate guards know all this and nothing was done about it? We talking like 10 years ago.
I retired in 2018 after 25 years of service in the Southern California and Arizona AOR (Area of Responsibility). My first question to you is: Who are the "gate guards"? Do you mean CBP Officers at the Ports of Entry? and I am assuming that you are also talking about "drug mules", ie...Narcotics traffickers and their armed escorts. And, if so, they (mules) can be extremely dangerous and unpredictable. We are highly trained in ambush/counter ambush techniques and close-quarters-battle, (CQB) and rarely encountered groups that matched our weapons handling prowess in the field. Without giving too much information (OPSEC) We generally knew when and where they were entering the U.S. and observed their progress via drones, sensor activations and IR camera systems and thus prepared our ambush/interdiction sites in advance of their arrival into our AOR. I never worked in south Texas, so I cant' really give you a definitive answer ; Different Region, Sector, geographical terrain and alien-narcotics smuggling traffic patterns. I can tell you this...The U.S. Border Patrol is busiest when the sun sets and before it rises in the morning, and is well prepared to handle most threats. A lot has changed politically since my retirement and the Agents I know are fed up and retiring in droves right now. It has become a tragic shit-show, unfortunately. I was a Border Patrol Agent in Naco, in the mid eighties and worked with Sheriff Dannels. We were young pups. Mark was always the person he is now. I am glad that his rise to Sheriff has not changed him. He continues to be the same compassionate, conscientious and patriotic person. He was always the first to charge and the first to care. 73 year old Tucson native here. Cochise County has some of the most spectacular scenery/ecology in the state of Arizona, but I am no longer comfortable traveling, camping, hiking in some of these beautiful locals. Thanks for speaking to the Sheriffs who are desperately trying to hold the line against all odds. Shame your border series is not being shown on national media maybe more attention/assistance would ease the situation these agents face every day.
The narrative also needs to change. Crime is cultural and the cartels over decades have ingrained themselves culturally in Mexico. It's more about culture and power than money. Nothing would change if the US drug market dried up. The cartels would find something else to do for money and invent new excuses to fight their own government.

I am Irish living in Ireland watching this and I think that Sheriff should get a presidential honour with his officers for the work he is doing and I picked up so much humanity from him and care and protection and security. He is one great man.

I had the honor of working with Sheriff Dannels when he was in patrol, prior to his becoming Sheriff. Back then, he was a hell of a cop, worked hard, was always in the stuff and really giving it to the bad guys. The only things that have changed since he became Sheriff is he can now use his whole team to go after what's right and his voice is much louder. He continues to work traffic, he continues to get in chases, catch bad guys and he continues to do everything he can for Cochise County.
I met Mr. Dannels back when he was a Lt. He has a unique set of leadership qualities and work ethic that make him a real standout among cops and well liked by the community. Good man!
I worked alongside him (p/d) , and with him (s/o) , from 97 until 22 when I retired ..... and yes, he's an awesome L/E..........and great human being..... no story telling here, because this is not the place.... But, I've seen how he handled bad situations,, and I have a great respect for that man.....
This Sheriff is a shining example of how I expect an elected LEO to approach, understand, and enforce the law. Not just the letter, but the intent. Great find/interview, Peter.
Maybe not most, just the ones in the media who represent those bad apples the sheriff was referring to. I don’t like cops because of personal experiences. I’m a physician who has had these experiences. But this sheriff represents what law enforcement should seek to be. He’s old school too-makes me feel like I’m back in the 90s when I trusted law enforcement.

Peter, I am a silent viewer but watch your videos religiously. I live in Southern AZ and you did a fantastic job of covering our border crisis. Now living in Tucson, with friends who are both LEO and BPAs, it is insane to me how the news has no coverage on this issues. I was told since centers were full, they dropped off 2 bus loads of illegal migrants right in down town Tucson. BPA & LEOs here are so under-funded, and unappreciated. As Sheriff Mark Daniels stated, politics should not be involved with public safety. These are our communities, these are our homes. Thank you again for the wonderful coverage.
The federal govt is giving Pima County millions and millions to house, feed, cloth, transport border crossers. Start reading the board of supervisor agendas and come to the meetings. You Will be amazed at what you learn there. Pima County is housing crossers at four Hotels.

I love your town. Spent many evenings eating at the Texas Roadhouse and the Culver’s where Peter and the Sheriff drove by a few times. Recognized a lot of the area in the video. I built the wall there in Coronado National Monument. The wife and I enjoyed our time in Sierra Vista more than any other town we have been in for work. It has by far the best weather I have ever lived in. And the scenery around there is beautiful. Who would’ve thought in the middle of the desert that you could have rolling grasslands and oak trees like you do around there and Bisby it’s a shame what it’s become in the last two years, I hope you stay safe down there and enjoy your little slice of heaven because it truly is an awesome place to live.

I just started watching your videos recently over the last week or two. I have to say, these videos are incredible. Your content has taught me so much about problems in America and just about different communities and people in general. Thank you for making these videos they’re fascinating. I live in Arizona and I didn’t even know how bad the border crisis has gotten.
Thank you for coming to our community and reporting on what is going on here. So many are so far from the issues they don't pay much attention. I work and live in the area 3 miles as the crow flys from the border. Our biggest concern here is high speed chases and illegal trespassers trying to steal vehicles.
I'm glad for the Cochise County residents whom this type of news goes out to the rest of us. I live in oceanside north of San Diego, and we have migrants coming up on boats and dropped off on the beach. But this, wow, great job of reporting Peter.

I know (from friends and family fleeing Cuba) that the cost per head to the coyotes who work for the cartels is around $7-10k per person depending on where you are travelling from or how many borders you need to cross to get to the us border. Great video...I am a retired U.S. Border Patrol Agent and yes, I also did some time in Cochise County/Douglas/Naco in the late 90's, early 2000's. This video reporting is beyond accurate and I am quite sure that it is far worse now than it was in my time in the patrol. It breaks my heart to this day at the memories of dead men, women and especially children abandoned out in the middle of nowhere; or dead in vehicle accidents, bodies strewn all over the highways and Interstates. Don't even get me started about the child sex trafficking victims we interdicted. Cartels: Disgusting, inhuman POS's.

I live on the 1,200 mile long Texas border. It's worse than you could possibly imagine. There IS no border.
Just imagine now who and how many are being released from detention centers. It's purposely being done for a Global Agenda. We are beyound return, and I really hate to say that or even think about it. Look out for your community, trustworthy friends, and family.
You know, I always wanted to ask a border agent about something. I spent a lot of time on the large border ranches in south tx. You know, 30-40k acres that you can easily drive right into Mexico on them with no border security. The border patrol would always leave the ranches at sunset and go sit in town. But the real thing I'd like your opinion on here is, multiple times as I went through, the gate guards would tell me there was a mule crossing that night and stay away from them. Their words exactly "They will kill you". Why did the gate guards know all this and nothing was done about it? We talking like 10 years ago.

I retired in 2018 after 25 years of service in the Southern California and Arizona AOR (Area of Responsibility).
My first question to you is: Who are the "gate guards"? Do you mean CBP Officers at the Ports of Entry? and I am assuming that you are also talking about "drug mules", ie...Narcotics traffickers and their armed escorts. And, if so, they (mules) can be extremely dangerous and unpredictable. We are highly trained in ambush/counter ambush techniques and close-quarters-battle, (CQB) and rarely encountered groups that matched our weapons handling prowess in the field. Without giving too much information (OPSEC) We generally knew when and where they were entering the U.S. and observed their progress via drones, sensor activations and IR camera systems and thus prepared our ambush/interdiction sites in advance of their arrival into our AOR.
I never worked in south Texas, so I cant' really give you a definitive answer ; Different Region, Sector, geographical terrain and alien-narcotics smuggling traffic patterns. I can tell you this...The U.S. Border Patrol is busiest when the sun sets and before it rises in the morning, and is well prepared to handle most threats. A lot has changed politically since my retirement and the Agents I know are fed up and retiring in droves right now. It has become a tragic shit-show, unfortunately. Nothing will change until our elected moron politicians are decisively un-elected.

73 year old Tucson native here. Cochise County has some of the most spectacular scenery/ecology in the state of Arizona, but I am no longer comfortable traveling, camping, hiking in some of these beautiful locals. Thanks for speaking to the Sheriffs who are desperately trying to hold the line against all odds. Shame your border series is not being shown on national media maybe more attention/assistance would ease the situation these agents face every day.
The narrative also needs to change. Crime is cultural and the cartels over decades have ingrained themselves culturally in Mexico. It's more about culture and power than money. Nothing would change if the US drug market dried up. The cartels would find something else to do for money and invent new excuses to fight their own government.

I had the honor of working with Sheriff Dannels when he was in patrol, prior to his becoming Sheriff. Back then, he was a hell of a cop, worked hard, was always in the stuff and really giving it to the bad guys. The only things that have changed since he became Sheriff is he can now use his whole team to go after what's right and his voice is much louder. He continues to work traffic, he continues to get in chases, catch bad guys and he continues to do everything he can for Cochise County.
I met Mr. Dannels back when he was a Lt. He has a unique set of leadership qualities and work ethic that make him a real standout among cops and well liked by the community. Good man!
I worked alongside him (p/d) , and with him (s/o) , from 97 until 22 when I retired ..... and yes, he's an awesome L/E..........and great human being..... no story telling here, because this is not the place.... But, I've seen how he handled bad situations,, and I have a great respect for that man.....
Many sheriffs don’t do road patrol once they don’t have to. It’s clear how much he cares about his county and our country.
He has one tough job on his hands…

Maybe not most, just the ones in the media who represent those bad apples the sheriff was referring to. I don’t like cops because of personal experiences. I’m a physician who has had these experiences. But this sheriff represents what law enforcement should seek to be. He’s old school too-makes me feel like I’m back in the 90s when I trusted law enforcement.

He is interviewing only 1 person a sheriff from a rural border area...how is that unbiased? that would be like interviewing 1 illegal or one smuggler...or one resident...that is just one perspective!!! this cop is heavily biased....As he want to chase illegals through his county not to help them for sure...But claims that what he is doing...All he doing is making the smuggling business so profitable that the smugglers can pay a kid 3k per person!!! The cops could charter buses for illegals that would stop all the fast speed chases and exploitation...But this cop does not want that...he want more cops to chase more illegals....None of these illegal are effecting his area other than they have to run from him and occasionally litter and walk on people property...

Peter, I am a silent viewer but watch your videos religiously. I live in Southern AZ and you did a fantastic job of covering our border crisis. Now living in Tucson, with friends who are both LEO and BPAs, it is insane to me how the news has no coverage on this issues. I was told since centers were full, they dropped off 2 bus loads of illegal migrants right in down town Tucson. BPA & LEOs here are so under-funded, and unappreciated. As Sheriff Mark Daniels stated, politics should not be involved with public safety. These are our communities, these are our homes. Thank you again for the wonderful coverage.
The federal govt is giving Pima County millions and millions to house, feed, cloth, transport border crossers. Start reading the board of supervisor agendas and come to the meetings. You

These border videos are superb. give a real, on the ground view I have never seen before...and helped me much better understand the problems at the border...and incompetence of both parties in Washington to address the problem. I love your town. Spent many evenings eating at the Texas Roadhouse and the Culver’s where Peter and the Sheriff drove by a few times. Recognized a lot of the area in the video. I built the wall there in Coronado National Monument. The wife and I enjoyed our time in Sierra Vista more than any other town we have been in for work. It has by far the best weather I have ever lived in. And the scenery around there is beautiful. Who would’ve thought in the middle of the desert that you could have rolling grasslands and oak trees like you do around there and Bisby it’s a shame what it’s become in the last two years, I hope you stay safe down there and enjoy your little slice of heaven because it truly is an awesome place to live.

I just started watching your videos recently over the last week or two. I have to say, these videos are incredible. Your content has taught me so much about problems in America and just about different communities and people in general. Thank you for making these videos they’re fascinating. I live in Arizona and I didn’t even know how bad the border crisis has gotten.
Thank you for coming to our community and reporting on what is going on here. So many are so far from the issues they don't pay much attention. I work and live in the area 3 miles as the crow flys from the border. Our biggest concern here is high speed chases and illegal trespassers trying to steal vehicles.
I'm glad for the Cochise County residents whom this type of news goes out to the rest of us. I live in oceanside north of San Diego, and we have migrants coming up on boats and dropped off on the beach. But this, wow, great job of reporting Peter.

Thank you for shining honest light on this subject. I know (from friends and family fleeing Cuba) that the cost per head to the coyotes who work for the cartels is around $7-10k per person depending on where you are travelling from or how many borders you need to cross to get to the us border. Then after you cross and you need more assistance, it’s more.

I'm honestly embarrassed as a US Citizen in Michigan. We don't hear much about this serious issue going on in the Southwestern States. I mean we hear what "they" want us to hear, but it never sounds even remotely close to what's actually happening out there. Just sad to know the truth now. I spoke to many people about the illegal alien problem along the mexican border and those idiots informed me I was racist.
