Not bad for a fifty-two year old tune. Just incomparable a band for the ages. Another great reaction.
Just as relevant today as it was back than.
Money was the first (recorded) use of sax by Pink Floyd. Came as a huge surprise to those of us who had already been following them for a few years. Fitted just perfectly.
Everybody on the absolute top of their game in this one - David on guitar and lead vocal, Roger on bass, Nick on drums, Richard on Keyboard, Dick Parry on sax. The 7/8 beat gives it a unique extra kick, then switches to an upbeat 4/4 interlude with one of David's all-time best guitar solos, then back again. Just an absolute banger. One of the few times PF recorded a song meant to gain wide radio airplay, which it certainly did and still does. The next song is Us and Them. Love all your PF reactions, please keep it up!

@@cFull_Rtrd I wish Roger and David were on the same page the entire time. The fact is, they are not. You can very easily identify 4 full fledge solos on pulse. Numb, Sorrow, High Hopes( a little less of a full) and Money (Sax). If Pulse is an inferior show, why was so much money made from it. Why is the stadium full?

The guy they have singing for Roger is not good. Hearing him sing reminds you how bad the show sucks. If it was MLOR and DB songs then great. That's the hill I die on.

The live version from the Pulse Concert is an absolute must watch Stacey, the interaction between the band is out of this world, great reaction yet again to another Pink Floyd classic ❤️

Also, the way the sax solo goes into a guitar solo is insane, the creativity was off the charts with this song and this whole album.

The background voices on this album came from a series of questions that Roger Waters ( bass, vocals ) asked the crew involved in the recording. Questions like “ when was the last time you were violent? “ and “ were you in the right? “I dunno I was drunk at the time …
The answer “I was drunk at the time” came from Wings guitarist Henry McCullough. Unfortunately, a supposed response from Paul McCartney didn't make it onto the album.
The switch from the 7 to 4 for the guitar solo is something that "just happened" according to Rick Wright in the documentary they did for the DSOTM episode of Classic Albums. Magical. The bass line was originally going to be much slower and more 'bluesy', but it morphed in to this brilliant piece of music.
I’d struggle to find another 7/8 time.
This is Pink Floyd's best and they are great musicians. Always overlooked is the outstanding recording engineer who gave this album it's iconic sound. Alan Parsons and he went on to create his own outstanding music to this day. Check him out.

I was blessed to see them sing this song live in concert in 77, 87, 88, 94, 94, and Roger in 2006. What wonderful memories.

Roger Waters recorded all the sound effects and took the tape and ran it around the recording studio on stands to make a loop. And this was 50 years ago. Nobody makes music this good anymore. Pink Floyd rocks
Wasn't it Alan Parson who was heavily involved in creating the special effects? Especially for the quadraphonic effects of the money moving around the room!

You can listen over and over and hear an instrument you missed the last 100 times! Every instrument is on either the right or left side and then the middle as well so it sounds like instruments all over the place in your head! Keyboards are very underrated, Rick was ON HIS GAME!

One of the greatest songs from probably THE GREATEST album ever . You need to listen to the entire album start to finish to get the entire story it tells . Lay back , put your headphones on , close your eyes , and get lost . Awesomeness !

I'll explain David Gilmour's style.
Guitar Magazine back in the mid - late 90s wrote:
David Gilmour is The Undisputed Dean Of The Compound Bend and has practically Perfect Note Placement.
His solos are not technically difficult Note wise, but to be able to bend and release is difficult to mirror.
David Gilmour said, not verbatim as I'll try to explain, that he plays his solos, mainly, as if like an Opera Singer.
Play a note and bend it in certain ways and shake it like an Opera Singer.
Dave Mustaine of Megadeth said, David Gilmour can take one note and bend it in so many ways where many other guitarists have to use the entire fretboard to do so. Something along those lines.
About David Gilmour's mouth movement as he plays is because he is actually singing in his mind and actually moves his mouth muscles as if he were singing it and then relays it to his fingers in order to achieve the sound and or sounds he is wanting to make and or perform.
For example, studies have shown that when a person is annunciating a word or words in their mind their trachea and larynx, maybe just larynx, moves as if talking.
A great example of David Gilmour singing the notes that he is playing is in the song, (Best Acoustic Song Ever) Wish You Were Here short solos.
I was 15 years old when the Pulse Tour was happening and I heard a commercial for it.
When I heard the voice of David Gilmour sing, in the advertisement, "Ticking Away The Moments That Make Up A Dull Day...."
I thought, WHAT THE HELL?
I went out and bought The Dark Side of The Moon Album. I just went straight to the song Time.
Then, when I heard that guitar Solo of his in the song Time, I thought.. okay.. time to pick up a guitar and start learning.
That Solo is considered a Masterpiece of Composition. Not technically difficult to play, but again... He is and still is The Undisputed Dean Of The Compound Bend with practically Perfect Note Placement.
Hence why many people say, "Damn! He can make that Guitar Sing!"
All my life, I never understood why the 2nd (last Solo) of Comfortably Numb was never #1 in Best or Greatest Solos of All Time.
However, finally a few years ago it became The Greatest or Best Solo of All Time.
If you understand Music and Math, that Solo can be played Indefinitely. (If you don't get tired)
It goes from B down to E and repeats.
David Gilmour in an interview said something along the lines of, "The structure of the music allows me the freedom to just play."

Crazy but lots of fun to play especially on bass guitar. Mainly in 7/4 but switches to 4/4 for David's guitar solos
Another great Floyd reaction Stacey. As an English Floyd fan since the 60’s it really is wonderful their music is still being enjoyed by so many in 2024. One of my personal favourite tracks is Coming Back to Life, and their performance at Pulse in 94 for me is truly wonderful and brings a tear to my eye when I watch it. I do hope you’ll watch the Pulse version at some point.
Who knew back when i was in the 5rd grade when this album came out that we would still be grooving to it decades later in 2024 and still be relavent.

OMG you finally did it... "Money" was my first encounter with PF when I was young. My dad had "Dark Side of the Moon" on vinyl and I listened several time. Glad you enjoyed "Money" it was and still be one of my fav from Pink Floyd and I love head over heels this album. Imagine I was 17 when this came out ! 68 now and I still love this entire album .
According to IFPI Global Album sales, Taylor Swift had the top 3, Travis Scott was 4th and 5th was Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon" with sales of 402K. Think about that, we're talking about a record produced over a HALF CENTURY ago.

Great reaction, great song and all time classic album, seen them twice back in the day and going to see Nick Mason (Floyd's drummer) in 2 weeks playing pre DSOTM stuff such as Echoes and Set the controls for the heart of the sun, It goes into Them and Us and you have reacted to it, this is why you need to listen to the albums but don't worry to much about that, just enjoy how good they were😁 This album is now over 51 years old.
I like your disclaimer that you will get around eventually to listening to their works from beginning to end as their intended "concept album". It makes me appreciate the dilemma of not really being able to do that, until you have done the first time reaction to select songs.
I really enjoy the format you have come up with in your reaction videos with just a few short interruptions and then most of your commentary at the end. I think it is a perfect balance.

One of the few songs of Pink Floyd that always comes to mind when I think of them. I first thought he sung "Money, it's aghast" but it sounded more like "Money, it's a guess." Nice reaction to this timeless classic Stacey. Please don't forget to do their hit "Welcome To The Machine." It's one of my favorites. When you finally listen to the whole Dark side of the Moon album, you can break it into two parts; side one starts with "Speak to Me" and ends with "The Great Gig in the Sky" and side two that begins with ""Money" and ends with "Eclipse."
"Money", Should never have become something we needed to survive! It was intended to be for things that we couldn't trade or barter for, so we could still get something that we wanted...not needed. Our daily needs should be shared, traded , bartered, even given outright to all! Skills, trades, knowledge, we all have things that others can't do to be useful and helpful to others that can do things we cannot. Only when we can't provide a useful item to obtain a "Want", should we resort to money! Sadly, greed is a more powerful emotion than empathy! Hugs, kindness and much love I wish for you Stacey!!! Great example of how the entire album of Dark Side of the Moon is a concept album by the way of using the sound of effects of the coins and cash registers in the intro, which were real sounds. It's a song about having money and all the benefits of it, but along with the warning of the trappings and evils that can come with it. And yes, that bass-line just adds to the hook and puts it on another level. You are definitely getting what Pink Floyd is all about and can't wait for you to do more of their other songs and albums.
This was the very first Pink Floyd song I ever heard. That’s it was in the Top 40 on the radio when I was in junior high school aka middle school back in 1973-74. They had top selling albums, but rarely had a song in the Top 40. That was a young David Gilmour singing, and that was his guitar solo of course. Roger Waters was jamming on the bass, Richard Wright was creating beautiful keyboard and synthesizer sounds, and Nick Mason was playing a great rhythm on the drums. Roger Waters made the cash register sounds.

I bought this album back when it came out, my freshman year of high school. I've owned multiple copies of it on different formats over the past 51 years. My favorite, aside from the original vinyl. Is my Super Audio Compact Disc of the Original Master Recording, as I can listen to it with no interruptions from beginning to end. The live version from the Pulse concert is amazing.

As a paid recording engineer, this is one of the most underrated engineers/producers of all time !!! Alan Parson is 1 of the # 1 of the greats! The clash register sequence was recorded in a clock store, setting each individually. The entire album was recorded in surround sound or 4D before its time , some may refer to it as "Quadraphonic

OKAY, if you're into Pink Floyd, don't miss their first two tracks from the album "The Wall." 'In The flesh" and "The Thin Ice," will give you chill bumps. I liked these songs for years until I listened to the lyrics for the first time, then I loved them. They are very short but very powerful, and classic Pink Floyd.

In this day where everyone uses 'samplers', sometimes even too much, it is easy to overlook how absurdly revolutionary it was to build a beat (in 7/4 time signature, no less) using recordings of 'cash sounds'. PF pioneered this kind of stuff, and they had to work magic in recording studios that simply weren't equipped to mix more than 8 tracks. I gave you a preemptive like, and as you always do, you immediately got the song. Great reaction again 😉
My friend John came by my house one day early in 1973 with this album. We had by then already heard Money on the radio (FM, of course), and so he bought it the first day Scotti's record shop got it. My mom was out so we sparked up, dropped the record on my turntable, and proceeded to listen to it end to end over and over. Love that you're loving it Stacey, your bona fide reactions are a treat so thank you for sharing!
We thought Meddle was as good as it got, then Dark Side showed up.
The great thing about the bass line is that it fully spans the 7/4 measures. It is not a measure of 4 and then a measure of 3. I once heard Bert Bacharach on the radio talking about his song "I Say a Little Prayer for You." He was personally involved in the production of Dionne Warwick's version. Later Aretha Franklin did a version that Bert said was better but he did not know why. The song was in 5/4 time but Bert said it was really a measure of 3 and then a measure of 2. Both versions were played and I instantly knew why Aretha's version was better. Bert's version had measures of 3 followed by measures of 2 while Aretha's had measure of 5. That made Aretha,s version really catchy rather than choppy. The Floyd played that song with solid measures of 7 and even though I suspect most people don't realize that it is 7/4 time, the feel of the song is greatly influenced by the time signature. The change to 4/4 really propels the instrumental part, too.
The album everyone had in their LP collection and often the cassette in their car too.

Did you notice the time signature change before the solo? The 7/8 time that's present at the start and throughout most of the song changes to 4/4 for David. He just couldn't solo over 7/8. A little fun fact. Cheers!
Roger Waters' wife at the time was a potter. He made the rattling change sound by borrowing her potters bowl, taking it to his studio and throwing loose change in it to get the sound. Kind of cool.
Nick Mason helped Waters create that opening by drilling holes in coins and threading them with a string knotted at different spots that were then thrown into Roger's wife's potters bowl..

I completely understand that you need to react to each song individually before reacting to the whole album. If you were to react to the whole album first, you would have to do pauses for copyright and then do the after-listen breakdowns after each song and it would get way too long to put into one video. It seems many commentators don't understand this, but I get it. Keep doing what you're doing Stacey, you're doing just fine. Love your reactions and the fact that you're a huge Pink Floyd fan already shows you have great taste in music.

One of the few times an old cash register was used as an instrument...if not the only time.
You would love the extended live version from Pulse.
Another Prog Rock band that released an album the same year as DSOM was Emerson, Lake and Palmer. They released "Brain Salad Surgery". They were equally as talented as PF. Their main songs, "Karn Evil 9 First Impression Part 1, and Part 2" is worth checking out. Since they were a trio, the Bassist had to do triple duty as the lead guitarist and Vocalist. 1970's gave rise to the use of custom made double neck and triple neck guitars with a bass option. Some like YES guitarist Steve Howe used a 5 neck guitar which included a mandolin and Harp in addition to the six string, 12 string and bass necks. Though I don't recall ever seeing David Gilmour use a multi-neck guitar, though he could have. Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page was famous for his use of the double neck.

This album is one of the greatest albums of all time. Every note every lyric every aspect... In the beauty of it the more age and the more life experience you have, the more meaning the album will have to you.

The original is amazing, and I'm glad you got to hear it. But you might want to have a listen to the Delicate Sound of Thunder ... they do a wonderful version of this song with a fantastic instrumental/vocal break section in the middle.
Saw them live in 93 or so in the Division Bell tour ... it's the only show I've ever been to where being in the nosebleeds did not in any way detract from the concert experience.

This is the song that the teacher reads out loud in the video of the song 'Another brick in the wall'.
Their biggest hit, as far as I know. (At least in the classic era.) This was the first Pink Floyd song I heard as a small child in the 1970s, when it, and I, was still new. (Sigh.)
