These lyrics hit hard and really make you look back and think about your life. It gets really emotional the older you get. And that solo! One of my favorite PF solos!
Don't forget about Nick Mason, the drummer. He was also phenomenal on 'Great gig in the sky'. He's wonderful to watch on the song "echoes" live in Pompeii and You get to see a young David Gilmour shirtless.
Life is like a roll of toilet paper - the closer you get to the end, the faster it disappears. Even when the days still seem long, the months and years get shorter.
I was 16 when the album came out, and for my generation listening to the album has the added benefit of reminding us of our youth and all the great memories of friends and growing up. And every year the lyrics of this song ring truer. I’ve listened to all the giants of rock music throughout my adult life, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, the Stones, The Who, etc., and this is still the greatest album I’ve ever heard.
After release this album spent a record 917 weeks (17.5 years) in the Billboard top 200. Wikipedia says 988 and For es 950. But the 917 is from Billboard themselves.
Pretty much my conclusion too, though I keep coming back to its ties for 1st with Abbey Road. Great albums. Best of human endeavor in the musical arts for my money.
I first heard this in my early teens. And then one day I find, 50 years have got behind me... and a new generation is discovering Pink Floyd's brilliance. This song definitely has more significance to me now than it did in the 70s. I didn't miss the starting gun, but it took me a while to get out of the blocks. Great reaction, young lady, to one of the greatest bands ever.
There are no great rock and roll bands anymore and there hasn't been any since the 80's. Pink Floyd is the best of the best and I'm glad to have grown up in the 70's.
David Gilmore once said that he wished that he was just an ordinary person that would have gone to the record shop in 73 and bought Dark side of the moon, took the record home and listened to it for the first time. ironicly, thats what i done in 73. an amazing experience.
As I watch and listen to these reaction videos from youngsters who didn’t grow up with this music I’m always a little bit jealous of them getting to hear it for the first time. Then I get over it because I got to see them live. 😎
I've been listening to Floyd since my early 70's teen. days, and lived almost every line of that song. At 66, I'm at the "Shorter of breath and one day closer to death" stage.
Their music is so deep; no other Band makes me feel the way they do. I listen to them every day. You give some of the best reactions, and it's apparent that you're not just going through the motions; you actually really listen, feel, and appreciate the music. 💕

So glad you listened to the studio version. I looked, and it appears you are a victim of the comment section recommending live versions, especially of Led Zeppelin. Big mistake. Led Zeppelin's studio versions are masterpieces. Live, they were very improvisational, and would often change the songs night to night, often adding long jam sessions in the middle. If you're not into that, you should always listen to the studio versions first, especially for Led Zeppelin. I am going to recommend you react to the studio versions of "Stairway to Heaven" and "Since I've Been Loving You". I see you've done reactions to the live version of both of those, but me personally, I never watch reactions to live versions of those two particular tracks unless I know the reactor has heard the studio recordings first. Why? Because the studio recordings are just that much better. Both of those two studio recordings represent two of the greatest achievements in audio recording history. I hope you revisit those two songs, and this time, listen to the studio recordings, and again, I highly recommend that in the future, try to listen to the studio recordings of Led Zeppelin tracks before checking out any live versions. I subscribed! Peace
I'm really enjoying watching you experience what I experienced years ago. So refreshing to see and hear such intelligent analysis of these incredible and beautiful songs by unique Pink Floyd. Stacy In 1973, 50+ years ago, Dark Side of the Moon was released, I was just 9 years old. As time went on, I am getting older. Now, this year, I will be 60 years old; this song has comforting reality to me. I know everyone here are short timers on Earth. Pink Floyd relates to live life the fullest.

Hey Stacey, it’s great seeing someone hear Pink Floyd for the first time. I’m 41, I was brought up on a musical diet of Pink Floyd and David Bowie, and I couldn’t be more grateful. I don’t know if you’ve reacted to Shine On You Crazy Diamond by Floyd yet, it’s arguably their best. As a departure from Pink Floyd I’d strongly recommend Misplaced Childhood by Marillion. It’s a wonderful album well worth listening to.
Stacy I love the introspection of your thoughts on how the music makes you feel and compels you to think about life. The more you listen to Pink Floyd music, the better it gets, and you will develop a deeper appreciation how brilliant their music really is.....
Alan Parsons is a genius. He produced a lot of the Beatles work and other great groups. I first heard this in my twenties and it made me reevaluate my life and where I was going with it. The clock sounds and the heartbeat, which speeds up as the song flows, is so HUMAN!!
He did not produce any Beatles albums. He was a sound tech on Abbey Road and Let It Be. George Martin produced all of the Beatles recordings at Abbey Road Studios. There is a major difference. He did not produce DSOTM only sound tech. Seems to me Bob Ezrin and James Guthrie produced the big Floyd albums.
I saw Pink Floyd perform this in Tampa Stadium in 1973 ! Honestly, it sounded exactly like the album! Everyone just sat there mesmerized! The absolute best concert Ive ever been to 💜 Great reaction 👏
One of David's most iconic "space rock" solos. And you can never stop relating to this song no matter how many times the sun has come up behind you again.
This song is SO well and succinctly written, without seeming as though it was thought out. Each thought leads seemlessly and organically to the next. It's almost conversational. Kurt Vonnegut's style of writing (not songs, obviously) comes across to the reader as if spontaneous, but as I understand it, he spent weeks and months arranging and rearranging dialog and paragraphs until he conveyed the something deeper that he wanted, but disguised as simple thoughts and actions. Pink Floyd's lyrics remind me of that, but I have know idea if the process was even close. If they were written as effortlessly as their meanings are conveyed, than that's even more amazing, but I know sometimes it takes real work to achieve simpleness and greatness together. Either way, pure genius and great heart in this track.
DSOM is certified 14 times platinum in the UK and topped the US Billboard chart for 988 consecutive weeks… that’s 19 years!!!! The entire album is a masterpiece and needs to be listened to from start to end w/o stopping as each song flows seamlessly into the next.
It CHARTED on the billboard 200 for 988 weeks, which is the longest for any album, but it didn't top it all that time. From what I can find it only topped it for a week. Still an incredible feat though, and being the fourth best selling album through all time
Also Richard Wright sings in the song, his deep and calm voice is easily recognisable" tired of lying in the sunshine...", or " every year is getting shorter". Rip Richard, you were one of the best. Keep on discovering Pink Floyd ' s " un nderworld", Stacey. Have a good luck
The Live version from the "Pulse" concert is epic. Reminds me of when I was young and kinda carefree 18 year old, coming home after a long night out, stumbling onto the bed after firing up the turntable, plugging my headphones in and setting the needle down waiting to pass out. Then this comes on, rude awakening many times.

I was a karaoke host for a dozen years and I had to do my share of pink floyd songs which were always crowd pleasers. Everyone would actually sit down and watch it like it was a concert. I put all of my greatest karaoke hits on my channel, I even have a Pink Floyd playlist of all of the ones I do by this super group. I will slowly add a few more as *time* progresses. I love Stacey's reactions to these. I love the way she rationalizes what she is listening to with such great insights that come to her mind. Great Job Stacey. Keep it up.
My first ex-wife was a bit younger than me. She was actually born in 1973 when Dark Side came out. So, I introduced her to Pink Floyd, and the first time she listened to this she freaked a bit because she had a "thing" about loud bells. But as the song progressed, she really got into it. She did eventually love Pink Floyd almost as much as I do. Most of their songs have deep meanings, but this is one that really gets you thinking about getting older and to make the most of the time you have left.
I have evangelized Dark Side of The Moon heavily in my youth... I don't remember how often I bought the CD to offer as a gift to people... And most of them are "hooked"... Not as much as myself but certainly for good... It's a cult, in the real meaning... I'm a cultist with this album and the "golden arc"... And a huge hardcore fan of the Syd era...
You have made me as a 68 year old man appreciate the youth of today, even though it's only from the music of my number one band, Pink Floyd. My advice to our youth is to enjoy yourselves whilst you can. As you say, life will pass you by with no mercy..
Stacey I'm so happy that your recovery is appearing to go well, being in all of our thoughts and prayers I hope did some good, The Floyd was a great group for their time and clearly their music is standing the test of time.
This was the first Pink Floyd song I ever heard many moons ago ... this IS my Absolute Favorite. Beautiful and Haunting ... I certainly can't think of a more complete band as in Talent Performance and Execution of Songs.
This were actually two songs. "Time" ends after the line 'Thought I'd something more to say.' immediately followed by the first chord of "Breathe (reprise)". That in turn transitions straight into "The great gig in the sky".
Hi Stacey thanks! I Have been enjoying your Pink Floyd reactions since the start. At 65 I have been a life long fan of them. Us dweebs and nerds gravitated to Pink Floyd back in the day. You really have a unique and fresh view point of their music. I am struck by your very perceptive insights. You are about half way through their most recognizable songs with many great ones to come. I am Looking forward to your next Floyd reaction. May I be so forward as to recommend a new band of the same era ? They are called Supertramp. I really think you will like this group. I would start with “Hide in Your Shell” the studio version. I would Have the lyrics close by as they are far more lyrical (amount wise) than Pink Floyd. Thanks again see ya on RUclips 😊
Wow thank you so much for your generosity!! I also appreciate the sweet comment so much. Thank you for your support and encouragement. I don’t think supertramp has been recommended yet so I will add them to the list!!😊
Richard Wright and David Gilmour harmonised wonderfully together. The entire album was quite a breakthrough at the time, masterfully engineered by Alan Parsons.
Keep in mind, Dark Side Of The Moon is the album that has been on the Billboard 200 list the longest, it is the first album on this list to be on for 950 weeks.. On the Billboard 100 charts, it was on for 988 weeks. The entire album is insanely good. You have to listen to the entire album without interruption. I am 66 years old, so I grew up during the "drug decade", (late 60's to late 70's), and my friends and I would smoke a little weed, kick back and listen to this album over and over.. During that same timeframe, my most favorite album to listen to was by a group called Captain Beyond, their self titled album is unbelievably good and it also needs to be listened to from beginning to end. Your reaction is great, late 60's through the early 80's is some of the best music ever put out. Keep it up!
It's never too late to discover or rediscover Pink Floyd. Their music is so rich. since their album came out every time I listen to it it opens my mind and takes me back to a simpler world. The musical richness takes me into starry ethers.
There was a time when music was a true expresion of human experience, a true art. Now, there is only a product to be consumed and thrown away. There still true musicians, true artist, but they are not in the mainstream scene anymore.
Remember listening to this song back in the early 70’s thinking I have all the time ahead of me but here I am kicking rocks in my hometown 50 years later. Older I get the more the song becomes my life
Great reaction! Spot on dear! These guys had so much depth to their lyrics, so much wisdom, and that's not to be expected from a bunch of guys in their twenties and thirties. Dark Side was a very interesting and musically experimental album. With the clocks starting this song, the seven sound background theme of Money, and all the significant background noises from On The Run. And of course the painfully emotional non-lyrics of Great Gig In The Sky. Brain Damage/Eclipse is another of the deep and astounding songs on this album that kind of felt like a knife twisting in my soul when I was a callow teen, and even more now in some ways. The beautifully melancholic Us and Them and the instrumental Any Colour You Like are great songs. Dark Side is absolutely a great listen straight through album as many of theirs were in the 70s. The heartbeat you noted is a key element to the overall tone of the song too, and of the album. It's also reflected on the interior of the album cover. Hypgnosis, who did so many of Pink Floyd's most artistically awesome album covers, gave a very basic image for this album, but it was perfect as it was.
I'm new to your channel and I like the way you describe the music you're hearing. Telling us that you are not musically savvy makes me want to watch you even more. Sharing with and helping educate others is one of the greatest joys of music. Anyone that gives you grief over something you may not know is not a music fan, they are a troll. @thaddeusbohn9516 Time" is a song by English rock band Pink Floyd. It is included as the fourth track on their eighth album The Dark Side of the Moon (1973) and was released as a single in the United States. Bassist Roger Waters wrote the lyrics. Keyboardist Richard Wright shares lead vocals (his last until "Wearing the Inside Out" on The Division Bell) alongside guitarist David Gilmour.
Getting off work around midnight. Go down to the river and meet up with friends. Get a fire going in the sand. Watch the stars and listen to this. It doesn't get any better.
Music class in high school at the start of 1976 was literally the first time I heard DSotM. The teacher, Mr Green, brought his personal high end Nakamichi system in. Four years later in 7th form a group of us went to his house each week in a music appreciation double-period. "One Of These Days" at very high volume was one of the favourites there.
With Pink Floyd, it is often the small details in their work that tells us how meticulous the band was in crafting their songs. One example in this song is the count of bass "chimes" that mark the opening section. There are 12 of them and then we dive into the verses.
It's Richard Wright and David Gilmour on vocals, not just David. Roger Waters was the main songwriter and lyricist until he left the band in the 1980's. Check out the studio version of "Money."

Dennis Floyd and The Moody Blues! My favorite Floyd song is Echoes. From The Moodies New Horizons.
I have just read my own thoughts 👍👍
I LOVE THE MODY BLUES SO MUCH. MY DAD SHOWED ME THEM WHEN I WAS 4 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE LOVED THEM EVER SINCE
Im.60 and these years felt like 20. If i have 20 left its gonna feel like spring break. Its humbling to know we are closer to the end than the beginning. Live every day like its your last. Sooner or later you will be right. See you on the other side my friend. I was lucky enough to see ALL these bands i see reaction videos to. 8 dollar concert tix. 8 dollar t shirt. I saw alot At the richfield coliseum in ohio. Damn those were really good times. World series of rock in the old lakefront stadium. Damn where did the years go?😢😢😢
That last note left me craving "The Great Gig In The Sky"! Great reactions!!!
It's almost a sin to not listen to Floyd via their entire albums. The songs go together so perfectly.
People have probably told you this in prior comments but the album “The Dark Side Of The Moon” is intended to be listened to in it’s entirety in order. The songs lead into one another and take you on a journey.

I have never heard you (explain, relate too, or summarize) a song this long before ! I am almost 70 and grew up listening Floyd from the start. Well done young lady and thanks for a great job!

@@StaceyRPGReacts Yes Mam you did, that song always takes each person to place only they can relate to from their own experiences. NOW get on with "Echoes Live in Pompeii". It is a little bit long (maybe 26 mins or so) BUT WELL worth the time ! Thanks Stacey .

It’s like you said, the clocks are ticking in different paces, but nobody was/ is thinking that the time is over really soon. Now we are here and later we don’t.

These lyrics hit hard and really make you look back and think about your life. It gets really emotional the older you get. And that solo! One of my favorite PF solos!
It really takes on a new meaning the older you get, the lyrics barely registered when I first listened to it and now they hit harder every year
It’s also a warning not to waste your life.
Don't forget about Nick Mason, the drummer. He was also phenomenal on 'Great gig in the sky'. He's wonderful to watch on the song "echoes" live in Pompeii and You get to see a young David Gilmour shirtless.
One of the greatest drummers of all time
The worst thing with time is that it accelerates so much the older we get.
Nice reaction ✌️🩷🌈
Life is like a roll of toilet paper - the closer you get to the end, the faster it disappears. Even when the days still seem long, the months and years get shorter.
Makin the Jump to light speed !!!
They say time is the fire in which we burn.
"Every year is getting shorter."
Exactly, Time really does accelerate as we age. I'm 72 and about out of time.
Just turned 67 have my Pink Floyd on best music ✌️
Great job Stacey!! You really saw the meaning in the song. I first heard it in the 70s and now at 65 I still have the same reaction you do.
We were there.........Pink Floyd, Doors, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Santana, Bowie etc.
Ever been to a stones show ? But that'll be the end of it- who knows when ! Ha. ! Thank you stones !
The Stones are still amazingly good. A faithful band to good music.

You're not a teenager, but you still got plenty left in the tank!
Their music is so deep; no other Band makes me feel the way they do. I listen to them every day. You give some of the best reactions, and it's apparent that you're not just going through the motions; you actually really listen, feel, and appreciate the music. 💕
What an awesome reaction. Just found your channel. I’ve heard that song thousands of times it feels like, but just watching you process it in real time was so real and energizing. Much love Stacy ❤
David Gilmour sings the verses in Time while keyboardist Rick Wright sings the choruses.
Love Rick Wright
I think the choruses are Wright and Gilmour together. They're amazingly seamless.
It is both and Wright was always a backing vocals man. Apart from songs like Paintbox.
@@allaboutthebclicksinnit1148 He was typically a backing vocalist, but he did sing more lead early on the first album, singing lead on a couple of Syd's songs.

The lyrics of Time are the most profound, thought-provoking, eloquent out there. Listen closely to the meaning….it is a message that is relevant to all of us. Thanks 🙏🏻 to all Pink Floyd members. They all co-wrote this. ❤
Bright Angel Stacey, I love how you let the music touch you from the inside. Love the diversity of music you play and your heartfelt views on how the music makes you feel. Thank you for

Dear Stacey,
My voyage with Pink Floyd began with Echoes in 1971 and never stopped.
If you are going to listen to Echoes be prepared, it's a 23.31min. very nice trip.
Pink Floyd takes good care of you,be sure of that.
For me the 90s was the "ten years" that got behind me. I was raising my kids, busy with work, trying to make my🎉 marriage work, then suddenly I was in my 40's, life was moving beyond me. That was 20+ years ago and I still feel it!! I've loved PF from the mid 70s onwards. Great reactions!

In 1973, 50+ years ago, Dark Side of the Moon was released, I was just 9 years old. As time went on, I am getting older. Now, this year, I will be 60 years old; this song has comforting reality to me. I know everyone here are short timers on Earth. Pink Floyd relates to live life the fullest.
I'm 62 and feel exactly the same way. Whenever I listen to this song it further strengthens my resolve not to waste any more time as I am fully aware that it is an ever-diminishing for me.
@@Biking360 I'm just recently 61 and was not aware of Pink Floyd when this was released. It took me until starting high school in early 1976 before they were brought to my attention. For a lady that is listening to our old school tunes. You have now understanding it. Thank you
Glad to see you continue your Pink Floyd-journey Stacey! Love it!
Back in the days they had no digital clocks. So they had to use analog clocks witch had to go off all at the same time.
And sorry for my bad English. I'm from Belgium and my native language is Dutch. But I also speak French, Italian and a little German. ;)
The video or concert videos for this song are one of the Floyd's very best! I've seen them do it 5 times (it's included in every single show), believe me! You'll love it.
Excellent reaction and analysis. I always thought that the alarms and clocks at the beginning were like a wake-up call, as in “Wake up and pay close attention to the lyrics to follow!”
Thank you for the support ❤️ the alarms and clocks definitely grab your attention as intended! So cool
I have always found that the best way to listen to the whole album is to do it in complete darkness, Epic.
W/ acid.
1:44 That ticking sound is actually played on a bass.
So many people miss that! The muted bass strings as the metronome keeping time played against the kick drum keeping the heartbeat. It's fantastic!

Lots of great hits by the Alan Parsons Project too.
You’ll soon be ready for Animals, their best work imo,all about society’s pecking order.
Amazing album.
I think Animals is Gilmour's album. Lots of his best guitar are on Animals
I've been listening to "Time" for 50+years. It really hits hard now days. I'm 76.
An easy song to comprehend, a hard song to understand, an amazing song to realize.
DSOM is certified 14 times platinum in the UK and topped the US Billboard chart for 988 consecutive weeks… that’s 19 years!!!! The entire album is a masterpiece and needs to be listened to from start to end w/o stopping as each song flows seamlessly into the next.
Who cares about certs ? TDSOTM is simply the best album in Space Time, you can't argue.
It CHARTED on the billboard 200 for 988 weeks, which is the longest for any album, but it didn't top it all that time. From what I can find it only topped it for a week.
Still an incredible feat though, and being the fourth best selling album through all time
Listen to this song again in 20 or 30 years. Hits HARD.
Sorrow (pulse version) amazing solo!
"US and Them" next (it's saxy).
Yes Please!
When I was a kid, this was a great song but now that I’m 51 years old, it’s something they can bring me to tears if I’m in the right mood.
It was when I bought this album in 1973 in London my life changed forever - I had discovered Pink Floyd and have been addicted ever since, up to now, 51 years later. ❤❤❤
Everything you said about this song, we all said over 50 Years Ago! That's how fast your Life goes By....

The whole Dark Side of the Moon album is a wild ass ride. Been listening to it for 25+ years. It never gets old.

Older I get the more the song becomes my life
Your empathy is a strength that will help you get more out of music 🥰

@@BruceHoult So lucky. All kids need this.
With Pink Floyd, it is often the small details in their work that tells us how meticulous the band was in crafting their songs. One example in this song is the count of bass "chimes" that mark the opening section. There are 12 of them and then we dive into the verses.
And on the album it transitions directly into "The Great Gig in the Sky" which just adds so much context
David and Richard Wright singing.

It's Richard Wright and David Gilmour on vocals, not just David. Roger Waters was the main songwriter and lyricist until he left the band in the 1980's.
