We are back with an action packed week of buying and selling of luxury watches here at Watchtrader & Co.
A collector takes a seat with Josh to discuss Rolex sports models. He currently has a GMT-Master II Sprite on a jubilee bracelet reference 126720VTNR. However, his eyes are set on a brand new steel Daytona with the black dial 126500LN. Many people prefer the Panda Daytona however this customer has a preference for the darker variant. Josh makes an offer to take the Sprite in part-exchange for the oystersteel chronograph.
Jon takes a look at a 1970’s ladies Oyster Perpetual with a mother of pearl diamond dial. The watch was passed down to the current owner and doesn’t have many compatibles online. The case and bracelet are Rolex Rolesor (steel and yellow gold). We usually see these 26mm watches in the Lady-Datejust format with the date window and cyclops on the crystal however this ones is time only. As the serial number is only partially visible and the watch is without papers, we suggest that the watch is taken to the workshop for further inspection.
Josh is back with a returning customer who has decided to part ways with his Rolex Submariner Bluesy. This is the steel and yellow gold reference 126613LB with a sunray blue dial and blue bezel. The gent feels that the watch is a little bit too flash for him and wants to part-exchange it for a Batgirl GMT. The black and blue bezel GMT is fitted with a jubilee bracelet and finished in full oystersteel.
Over in the batcave, Harry and Hendo have sat down to discuss a Rolex Explorer II in a rather sad state of affairs. The owner has unfortunately dropped the watch onto a tiled bathroom floor. The sapphire crystal has shattered leaving shards of glass all over the dial. Hendo explains the best thing to do if you’re ever faced with this situation and what can be done to restore the watch back to its former glory. On wrist, Hendo is sporting a two tone Oysterquartz Datejust which is quite a rare and unusual timepiece. The 70’s design is by the watch design maestro Gerald Genta and is the only quartz movement Rolex model to have graced the line-up of the crown. This one features a white Buckley dial which adds a quirk to this already quirky watch.

126500ln with black dial is a beautiful watch, also Sprite is outstanding. That’s a very hard trade. If I could, I would own both 🤔
Great to see a Sea-Dweller on the channel. Such an underrated watch.
Often dismissed by people who have never worn a sea dweller.
Or by people who aren't built like The Hulk
It's a hideously sized watch worn by Muppets.
Tyneside Zeus all bronzed up 😂
Love Hendo. Needs his own sub series that shows him polishing watches
I would hate to sell a watch to Jon , he’s ruthless
He needs to work on his customer service skills
You’d rather sell it on Gumtree than him 😂

There’s not much behind the eyes
Another thing about the Oysterquartz is that the movement is a high accuracy one. If memory serves it is around five seconds a year! A regular quartz is around fifteen seconds a month!
Rolex will still service them and they are ultra reliable. Hendo, you had a Beta 21, Wow, as you know, that movement was used in several high end watches. I have a GP one, still works perfectly fifty years later. As you know, the only thing with those is the short battery life, My other GP quartz, the first mass produced Swiss quartz had a regular battery life.
I know you are younger than me but you were around in the seventies and what is now called the "quartz crisis" was back then called the "quartz revolution". I remember getting my first quartz for my Thirteenth birthday, a Sekonda which had a Russian made quartz, I loved the way the seconds hand ticked, marvelled at the time keeping and I felt like I was a person from the future wearing it!
Thank you for sharing that Ian. Always a pleasure to read your insightful comments!
do they have the correct hands?
That guys crazy changing the sprite, it’s going to rocket when it’s discontinued
Yeah but it’s ugly as sin … you can buy a watch because you like it rather than just because it’s worth more you know 😅
@@russellis6993 it’s a beautiful watch needs to be seen in person to appreciate it 😁
The Seadweller was less than £50 more than the Submariner in the late 80’s. Even in the early 2000’s the Sub Date was 2350 vs the Dweller at 2440
Pretty close then. I have a 1970’s price list showing the Submariner at 138 and the Sea-Dweller at 153, so a 10.9% price increase. Today the different is about 29%. Either way, more expensive. Aside from price, what other factors do you think contribute to less Sea-Dwellers?
People just didn’t see them as anything other than the same watch. The sub date is ultimately enough and wore flatter. IMPO the Dweller (of that era and before) should be much more desirable
Harry does a great job.
Pretty sure that guy took it deep in the shorts trading it for a 5 year old batgirl 🤦🏾
7:07 'Aitch', not, 'haitch'.
Jesus Harry let Hendo talk !!!!
the nkuwan would be super cute during the fall with a nude or tan or even tonal outfit! i’m thinking a tan wool coat with that bag!!
Watches are so very nice I like them all so much.
Watch market is dead
Rubbish!
I think it returned to where it was prior to the bubble.
Define dead?
40k for the 116500LN......do you mean asking?
£1500?! He almost laughed as he said it
Have you changed the voice of the first fella!? Sounds weird.
We boosted the sound so it’s clearer to understand so that might be why it sounds a little weird to you. In an ideal world we’d be able to capture perfect audio but we just have to do our best in the shop. Thanks!
Thank you for the video
FYI: Rolex made other quartz watches other than the Oysterquartz
Correct, the beta 21 movement watches are one to read about for anyone interested. Cheers
The Rolex 17000 looks the most like a PRX.
Enjoyable video
Hey Watchtrader & Co , very good video . I can do better editing in your videos which can help you to get more engagement in your videos . Pls lmk what do you think ?
cheers from Krete ! where did u go there mate ? Heraklion, Chania ?
Hersonissos! Thanks for tuning in
You turn up the music so we couldn’t hear you pronounce Audemars wrong…😂
The Bluesy sub is offensively ugly. I have no idea why anyone would wear one, let alone fork out money for one. Yuck.
That’s your opinion, I love it 🤷🏻♂️
@@DavidWilliams-zn2nc It'd be a boring place if we all liked the same stuff.
But you're still objectively wrong about the bluesy 😜
@@HydrogenAlpha I also think it's a beautiful watch, unlike most - if not all - Pateks.
It’s the best looking Rolex ever made!
Its one of the best Rolexes ever made. U re just wrong
