I have this watch . Overpaid for it last year . Definitely feels special on my wrist . I own a panda daytona as well . Panda feels fake because of the weight difference. Get a lot of looks from those who know and not much attention from those who don't . I like that aspect of it. Weight of the bracelet is very heavy all around which doesn't give you that dig into your wrist feeling from a top heavy deepsea . Very well balanced because of that . Worst part , 3k a year to insure it which is a must at this price point.

If anything I'd imagine a yellow gold watch would attract much more attention than a platinum watch that to the uninitiated looks like a "regular" steel watch. Your decision of course. I'd think twice about even wearing a Tudor out on a night like that personally, so for you to wear the Pikachu shows you've got more confidence than I! Great vid.

Interestingly wearing. Right handed watch on my right wrist - being left handed- the knobs don’t push into my wrist like it does worn on the left wrist. I always take my watches off to adjust time or date anyway and I bet most left hand wearers do also. The weight is wonderful on the wrist. Feels like money…
This last version has a solid platinum back - while the newest version has a piece of glass replacing that solid platinum back piece. Fun to see the guys once but after that I prefer being able to say simply/ the entire watch is solid platinum. The price did not go down because of the watch has less platinum - in total. Good trick by Rolex. They did it to remove the platinum back piece otherwise why not put the observation back on a submariner or a Stainless gmt? Because the stainless back piece is cheaper than even the glass back. But a solid platinum back piece is worth many times more than a piece of glass…. They cheapened this grand piece.
Great review. The brown bezel seems to frame the dial to make it look smaller. Totally agree, the full ice blue dial is the way to go. Never understood the combination of ice blue and brown.

The only missing mandatory feature (for me) is the use of ceramic coated pins in the bracelet. I do not understand why they have not added it for the new version with such a price point on a such soft metal.
The ice blue dial is completely unmatched IMO. Even the Tiffany blue doesn't compare. The thing about the Playtona I can't get passed is the chocolate bezel and subdials. I love the ice blue matched subdials on the baguette version.
Does all models of Rolex gets decrease in value once warranty period is over ? , like I saw the Rolex Daytona platinum with 2015 manufacturing is going around 75k-80k euro and new 2023 is going around 90k+ euro
An expired warranty does effect it's desirability and as a result it's price, however, this is the same even with a valid warranty period. For example, a 2023 Platinum Daytona will typically go for more than an example registered in 2022, partly to do with a longer warranty period but also because clients simply find a younger example more appetising! 🙌💯

My friend has a pre-ceramic Daytona and every time I put it on it feels small for me. I feel better with my 41mm sub. Mybe the cermamic would give a bit bigger feeling of a watch.

I tried on a platinum day date and I couldn't believe the weight of it, so special unfortunately I'll never get to own one, just in the process of moving some money around and hoping to purchase a deep sea, this will be my sports watch next to my panerai luminor
Not really . It holds value , and an easy resell . But. It an investment. Very very few watches and rare watches are investments. These are still mass produced. Buy this Cosmograph or any other watch for its main purpose, that is to wear it as much as you can - that's the return and joy you will get . If you are buying a watch like this one and keep it in the safe , so that your money will grow , you may be making a mistake . But if you wear it everyday on your wrist and enjoy it - now that's what I call a good investment ! For example- a $100 K watch worn every day in one year will cost you $274/ per day / per wear . While if the same watch is only worn 10 times in a year , it will cost you $10K / per day / per wear . There are other better ways that you can park your hard earned $. Even a 5% return in a CD is better than this watch , if you want to invest :)
Another nice piece to put away in the safe forever .... As i cant imagine anybody without a team of security guards wearing this on a night out in london .....😮 Or any other largely populated city of multi cultures..😮
They are both very special models indeed, it is best to go with which you enjoy most and if you can justify the premium on the new one for the changes it brings 👍

@@thehonestwatchdealer From my experience, the most comfortable watches are the Daytona and the GMT. You really appreciate the large contact surface area when you wear them in precious metal, such as gold (or even platinum). Helps distributing the weight on the wrist.
Lots of watches in all sorts of price ranges have the see-thru back glass piece/ but how many watches can say that the “entire” watch is solid platinum? Not many. It would be interesting to weigh the back piece of the previous model and multiply times the value of platinum to find what Rolex removed in terms of value. This glass piece also reduces the weight of the watch which is part of its unique charm. If I was buying one I would buy the true solid platinum Daytona - without the cheap piece of glass. It would be interesting to know what Rolex changes for say a typical crystal on the front of a Daytona if it got cracked. Nothing like they would charge for a solid platinum back piece. The extra links are I believe somewhere in the area of $3,500 or more. That back price from Rolex is probably $10,000 - the glass back - hundreds of dollars. Just a way to reduce the cost of materials for Rolex.
Checked on the net and to replace a glass crystal in a Daytona is only around $250 with gaskets and labor etc. so the glass is worth maybe $100! The value of a solid platinum back piece is likely in the multiple thousands and interesting to know what Rolex would charge. I will take the solid platinum back all day long….

I owned a diamond dial platinum Daytona I paid £45k I found it uncomfortable and heavy I traded it soon after.i now wished I kept it ..Only for the increased value..

A very unique and rare piece! Honestly I've never seen it in person, but this watch doesn't cut it for me. It doesn't look as elegant as the pikachu daytona or even the panda dial.

I find it extremly ugly. Cheap looking dial color, ceramic color i wouldnt even mention on what reminds me. White gold, black dial and red hands was the best daytona.

Look at the surface of the caseback, the daytona wears so good, the day-date on the other hand is horrendous.

@@thehonestwatchdealer From my experience, the most comfortable watches are the Daytona and the GMT. You really appreciate the large contact surface area when you wear them in precious metal, such as gold (or even platinum). Helps distributing the weight on the wrist.

I have the new version. The display caseback is amazing. Extra good finishing on the movement. Ways way more than a platinum DD.

Lots of watches in all sorts of price ranges have the see-thru back glass piece/ but how many watches can say that the “entire” watch is solid platinum? Not many. It would be interesting to weigh the back piece of the previous model and multiply times the value of platinum to find what Rolex removed in terms of value. This glass piece also reduces the weight of the watch which is part of its unique charm.
If I was buying one I would buy the true solid platinum Daytona - without the cheap piece of glass. It would be interesting to know what Rolex changes for say a typical crystal on the front of a Daytona if it got cracked. Nothing like they would charge for a solid platinum back piece. The extra links are I believe somewhere in the area of $3,500 or more. That back price from Rolex is probably $10,000 - the glass back - hundreds of dollars. Just a way to reduce the cost of materials for Rolex.
Checked on the net and to replace a glass crystal in a Daytona is only around $250 with gaskets and labor etc. so the glass is worth maybe $100! The value of a solid platinum back piece is likely in the multiple thousands and interesting to know what Rolex would charge. I will take the solid platinum back all day long….
@@jeffreykilpatrick3592remember that they placed a gold rotor in the new model, plus finished the movement in a finer manner. Probably makes up the difference for many enthusiasts

I own this piece. Like it….but I don’t love it. Simply waaayyyyy too heavy to wear.
I owned a diamond dial platinum Daytona I paid £45k I found it uncomfortable and heavy I traded it soon after.i now wished I kept it ..Only for the increased value..

A very unique and rare piece! Honestly I've never seen it in person, but this watch doesn't cut it for me. It doesn't look as elegant as the pikachu daytona or even the panda dial.

I find it extremly ugly. Cheap looking dial color, ceramic color i wouldnt even mention on what reminds me. White gold, black dial and red hands was the best daytona.
