It's Just Gardening.
Gardening is simple, just plant it and let them grow. Gardening in the DMV area, District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia.
I live in suburban Northern Virginia Zone 7a. I converted my front and back yard into a garden food forest, hoping to have all year-round produce.
In addition to growing greens, I also grow some Cold Hardy trees and plants, like different varieties of Russian pomegranate, citrumelo, pineapple guava, yuzu lemon, Meyer lemon, and oranges. Some are in the ground outdoors and in an unheated greenhouse.
Below is the list of my plants:
pawpaw, citrumelo, yuzu lemon, Meyer lemon, Guava, sugar cane, jujube, Russian pomegranate Salavatski, grapes muscadine, orange, tangerine, blueberry, blackberry, flying dragon, loquat, passion fruits, maypop, banana, figs, honeyberry.

I enjoy watching your videos because I’m in the northern Virginia area as well. I’m learning how to garden here versus gardening in Texas where I used to live.
Thanks, I think we connected while back how is the garden going ?
@@ItsJustGardening we did!! It’s going slow for now but summer and fall was very good. I’ve started seeds now for spring planting.
I'm in NoVA so I'm inspired by you and Elias. I want to turn my front yard into a food garden now that FX County allows it.
Thanks Rosa, Elias is the best, yea I’m glad FX county allow people to fire in front yard else I wouldn’t be growing in front either. Good luck 👍
Wow, I would love some seeds, emailing now

hi, TG: received your seeds, thanks! I browsed thru your clips on how-tos but I am still not very clear: 1. the best time to start growing seeds? In one clip you said "in winter" Would you please give a time frame? 2. is your Salad container have holes at the bottom? 3. when should they be fertilized, what fertilizer to put in, and how often? 4. how many weeks before the plants are separated into smaller containers for each? 5. how many weeks do they stay in individual containers before transplant in the ground? 6. how many plants do you put per hole in the ground? I saw you put mid-size and small-size ones together in one hole. 7. I'm in 7a zone, so once the plant is in the ground, no need for winter protection? Thanks
hi linda, you can start sowing the seed anytime. the lettuce container have no drainage holes, i only water one time and keep the lid closed to keep the humidity high. You can use regular pots it would works, just try no to let it dried out can cover it with zip lock bag. once the plant get around 4" or you start to see the wood stem is brown then its a good time to separate them out. If your soil have compost you don't need to fertilize it, when it in the pot else just use regular fertilizer any would do fine. I used 10-10-10 to boost the green growth. I usually plan them in ground once they are close to a pencil size thickness or roughly 12 inches tall. It up to you how many plant you want to put in a hole, 1 per hole is fine, can do 2 per hole incase 1 done make it. I have seedling that survived here in northern VA zone 7 with out protection.
