You are right!Awesome fact that you know about that connection!Tony was hurt in a car accident,I believe, and that is when the bass was introduced to Tony under the watchful eye of his uncle John.........McLaughlin,that is!
brad lewis he was in a jeep accident while in the military. He flew out into a farmer's field. The farmer left his 8 year old son with Tony while he called for help. Tony wrote Unseen Angels about the boy. Tony broke his back, and has titanium around many vertebrae. He showed me the scar a few years ago....holy crap! It's the entire length of his back. John brought a bass to him to aid in motor skills...and now, wow! I lost my leg last year, and he gave me a big hug, encouraging me to not give up playing guitar. I said I got my chops back, so let's jam!
Hiromi's keyboards must be coated with asbestos. There can be no other reason that they are not totally engulfed in flames by the end of this performance.
This energy is something that is missing from most otherwise great performers. People get old. Hiromi is today. Even this set dates from 10 years back!
Huima soittaja - ihku - olen roudannut muinoin Helsingissä monia superfuusiojazz tyyppejå, ja myös erästä Frank Zappaa useamminkin, mutta Hiromi on aivan omalla planeetallaan . sorry Herbie
I would love to hear what these guys listen to.....there is so much stuff in there, amazing. A musician is someone who does not have to amaze with technique, except on those occasions when they feel it necessary. Hiromi is a Ferrari with extra gears!
Chon listens to hiromi, necrophagist, and anthony crawford. It could be safe to assume she listens to holdsworth and chambers and corea since her style is so inspired by like artists
I like how Hiromi does jazz piano, but that she also experiments too. She delves into pseudo-jazz techno music and stuff like this. It's so weird and different than the regular jazz things she usually plays.
Hiromi never ceases to amaze me with her dazzling virtuosic displays of sonic diversity through the widest vastest spectrum of styles, technique and even sensibility that I have ever had the great fortune to witness.Regardless of how far and deeply she moves through an impressive range and diversity of musical influences, Hiromi has somehow managhed through sheer genius, to arrange those influences and regardless of how far she spans genres, she never looses her musical center and everything works together so naturally and purposefully that you know her unique insight into the nature and soul of music makes her one of the immortals. Hiromi traverses genres effortlessly emenating a joyous abandon moderated by discipline so profound that for her, release is pure and effortless. Hiromi is a virtuoso even among virtuosos, . Hiromi is not a musician, because she is music, a force of nature and life who exemplifies what it is to be human
Agree but also would be interested to see what would happen if she played with Jacob Collier - also an embodiment of music without genre - it's just brilliant music.
5:40 gets psychedelic, man! Then smoooooth bass chords at 6:00 followed by dub at 6:40. There are so many bloody genres going down in this tune whilst remaining in the capital, Groove City! DAMN!
Don't Franklin.:Great way to put it.Some of these other guys got the gall to elevate her above keyboard pioneers who broke musical group long before she was born. She's great,I love her but don't make her out to be head & shoulders above her predecessors. That's downright disrespectful. They started this whole musical explosion.
@@Crezelltree4261 This is a great point that I both agree and "disagree" with periodically (hear me out). In this specific case, I think that Hiromi makes the better music. What I mean isn't that she's a greater pioneer (I don't think she is), but the end product is in academic terms "so fucking good". As for disrespect, what I *think* that you mean is that history and innovation is important and you better not disregard that, and I agree that's very important, but I think this is a misunderstanding of what you and "them" are saying. Great point, anyway, and it needed to be said.
check out more of Hiromi's stuff! if you like this you'll probably like the original Kung-Fu World Champion, Flashback (there's a really great live one) Spark, Alive, XYG... at least, those are my favourites :) also if you're into the DnB sounding part definitely listen to some of the stuff that's posted on the channel "Ambiance", like Peshay Studio Set or Intelligent Drum and Bass
I agree with Jason. She still resides upon the planet on which she was born, and that's a blessing to all of us. Jasonに同意します。 彼女はまだ彼女が生まれた惑星に住んでおり、それは私たち全員にとって祝福です。
She has revitalized fusion for me again... I love the way she plays!!!.. shes so playfull and funny... Not condescending like shes the baddest and she knows it... One thing I think is missing from her is Allan Holdsworth... He's the only guitarist I think can keep up with her...that would be awwsome...
dmmjq2 Seeing the original Mahavishnu Orchestra live turned me on to fusion forty-three ago. But I eventually began to tire of what later passed for fusion. And then I discovered Hiromi, and the passion is there again. She and her groups Sonicbloom and the Trio Project have, indeed, "revitalized" the genre and brought me untold hours of delight and joy. And they're clearly doing the same for countless other people throughout the world. We are blessed!
This track and Kung Fu Champion are well recorded. Thank you Telarc for putting Hiromi's music on a great quality label. This is a staple for me to demo music with.
hiromi is not only number one keyboard player in akk stayles but also sweet and nice and beautiful she is just perfect in my eyes and a genious virtuozo as well i love her
I am SOOO into this tune for some reason. Plus I'm definitely a new fan of Hiromi. I want to see how much other hard fusion she's done. But so far I'm very impressed with her.
TLDR This is one of the epic shows that puts Hiromi among the GOATs - What the band did to music and their instrument, imho are as great as the classical GOATs like Debussy, Liszt etc. It's THAT GOOD. Grateful that Hiromi is a well recorded artist! Snarky Puppy as well. 🎉
AHHH....you keep that 70's fusion alive girl !!! ...Im so bored with the old timers...its about time some new blood came out ... she brings new life to it... love it !!! she is awesome...

Carlos Eduardo Herrera not just the final boss of music. The final boss in general

Just the most casual "Flight of the Bumblebee" citation ever.... so awesome
Can we also just appreciate that rhythm section too! The drummer especially is a beast. Perfect for helping Hiromi soar!
I think this video was down for a while. I’m SO glad it’s back. It actually made me feel quite emotional to finally listen again.

Its incredible how she incorporates Flight of the Bumblebee at 7:48 All Hail Hiromi
Haha, she actually did it. I’m imperessed
Massive respect for including a straight-up key smash as part of a very masterfully crafted piece of art. 3:04
