My first car was the ol family 59 Ford Galaxie, 4 door hardtop in baby blue. I took it over in 65 as a graduation gift and to use for college. Loved that car, kept it great, sold it when I left for the service. Good but very distant memories.

Those 1959 Fords were great looking cars. I've only seen a couple of them in the last 10 years or so.

Enjoyed your trip to the yard with all the 59 Fords. What a collection. I always liked the 59 Fords. Here is some information for you about Canadian Fords. Ford of Canada did away with the Y blocks before Tthe US. The last Y block available was a 272 in the 1958 Custom Fords, all Fairlanes, Wagons and convertibles had 332 and 352 FE engines. this continued up to 1965 in full sized Fords. In 1966 the 289 became the standard engine, the 352 eliminated and the 390 was the next in line. US cars had Yblocks up to 1963 or 1964 when the 260 came out. Our Canadian Meteors { the equivalent of the Fords} had the 303HP 361 Edsel engine as the top line offering instead if the 300HP Interceptor.. I often wondered if there was an uprising of discontent when someone purchased a new top of the line Fairlane 500 only to have the Galaxie come out 6 months later. I like the Galaxie much better. Good luck with your 59.I' ll watch for progress report videos.

My older brother had a 59 Ford Galaxy 500 in addition to all of the other cars he went through. In my opinion It was the best car he ever had.
I would really like to get my hands on a two door that didn't require total rebuild. I'm willing to pay a reasonable price.

NICE ! I bought a 59 conv about 30 years ago intending on restoring it, but life got in the way. Now its buried in my garage with 4 flat tires and 4 inches on dirt on it. This video might inspire me to motivate me. Sheeeesh , everything is just sooooo expensive.

I have always liked the 59 Galaxy. My Uncle bought one in 59, navy blue four door sedan with a white roof and factory, I think, air conditioning. It was a chrome, slim line, under dash unit with two chrome joy sticks to direct the air flow.

New Sub here. I bought a 59 Skyliner when I was 18 in 1980, that needed totally restored. With the help of a good friend, we totally went thru the 332ci (cracked Block (discovered after purchase 😡and was very fortunate to find another 332ci Block in the back of a School Bus in a Junkyard in Terra Haute, IN), had the Transmission rebuilt, had the complete Top Mechanism gone thru by a Specialist but never was able to finish the Body as Life got in the way, (newly Wed and moved into an Apartment therefore no room to work on the Gal). Had to sell Her in 1982 but She drove really well for the short trips in Indy while I had her out and about. It would be interesting to see if the guy I sold Her to ever finished Her.
Nice Bones to work with on your Purchase and GREAT find on the back Window!!!! The best of luck to you on your new project!!!
Looking forward to the next Videos showing the progress on this Gal!!!

When I was 9, my Dad totaled his 59 Country Sedan. He replaced it with a 1960 Country Sedan. Both cars have remained my favorite FORD years. I think the 59 had a 352, and the 60 a smaller V8 (289?). I long for 59 T-Bird convertible!

13:43, so good of them to clear a way and fix the wheels.
when I was a kid, my late father and I had a Ranchwagon and four sedans. The engines were 1 332, and the others had the 352, one being a police special, in Australia they had the square grill and we called your 1959's both 1961 and 62's I believe they came in parts to Ford Sydney Australia for ours, and all over our country sold them as same.
Look forward to looking at your posts, especially this one, as we had one that colour.

My parents, grandparents and uncle all owned 1959 Fords. My parents was a Ranch Wagon, the other two were Custom 300 4 door sedans. Here in Wisconsin they were rust buckets by 1964. People typically bought new cars every 3 years in those day but all 3 were traded for 1966 Fords.

Nice to see a 4dr. sedan for a change. In my town Kitchener-Waterloo Ontario there are several 59's many retractables. One now retired 59 collector restored several retractables and once won best-in-show at the retractable convention. This was a remarkable feat because he DROVE the car 200 miles to the meet.I have many fond memories of the 59's including the Canadian Meteor Montcalms, a twin to the Galaxies which we also had. Best of luck with your 59. I will be watching for future videos showing your progress. Happy New Year.

It's great to see you rescue this great '59! I look forward to seeing it running and rolling down the road soon. FYI, those Calfiornia plates were issued to that car once CA switched to the black and gold plates beginning in 1963, which is why they were embossed "63". In CA, plates stay with the car, so if it had been continually registered each year, they could still be used. I run with the set originally issued to my '68 Cougar, for example.

An original CA car should be solid underneath as well if it was stored properly. You need to check the old back glass you salvaged ftom the coral car because it may be clear glass and the CA 4 door has tinted glass which is a nice find BTW. Good luck with the restoration.
