Jeff Beck is undeniably one of the world’s greatest guitar players. Technically brilliant, he is renowned for pushing musical boundaries and has excelled across many different genres from rock and jazz to pop and blues. “Live In Tokyo” was filmed at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Japan on April 9th this year. These Japanese dates were the first to feature Jeff Beck’s new backing band of Jonathan Joseph (drums), Nicolas Meier (guitars) and Rhonda Smith (bass) and the setlist includes some material from his new, as yet unreleased, studio album. In contrast to Beck’s previous visual releases, both filmed in small clubs, “Live In Tokyo” is filmed in a major concert arena and has a very different, more expansive feel. Jeff Beck is a true guitar legend and this show captures him at his very best.

Absolutely-what has devastated me about his passing was he actually continued to improve and hone his otherworldly skills...still a badass well into his 70's. What a loss! However there is solace in having his entire career to continue enjoy. All Hail Master Jeff Beck forever!

I truly feel that Beck's tone/playing has been heavily influenced by Jan Hammer since working with him.His attack is a lot like playing a synth with washes of ethereal sound & then frenetic lines like Hammer's imitating a guitar.

Rhonda Smith isn't his daughter. Neither is Tal Wilkenfeld. They're just two of the mind-blowingly good young musicians -- many if not most young women -- he's mentored & encouraged over the years (although Rhonda was a seasoned pro when she joined him: she recorded and toured with Prince for almost 10 years).

Rhonda Smith. Saw Jeff with Rhonda on bass, Vinnie C. On skins and a cellist whose name I forget last night. Rhonda was killin it. Jeff was good but not really putting everything into the set. My only complaint is last night he only played about 70 minutes. I’ve seen him four other times - in the 70s, then not until 2004, 2013 I belive and last night. One song encore. Johnny Depp came out and played three songs and sang isolation by Lennon among others. He was merely passable with a lot of rock star type moves like the staggering crossed feet etc. He was into it though. Hed had a vocalist named Jimmy Hall that was weak and not a good fit. Once again Jeff has trouble finding a good vocalist that fits. He is still one of the very greatest. Last night his heart seemed to not be in it 100%. But I know he added 5 days between the Crossroads appearance tonight I believe in Dallas and the appearance again at the Hollywood Bowl to reunite with Stewart at the end of the short run.
@@craiglouis9416 Yeah shame re. vocalist as he’s great with Beth Hurt and Imogen Heap and love to see the latter tour as his electronically would be complemented by her strangle and brilliant melodies.

Also, the video should, at least occasionally, show the other performers a bit more.
I saw only fleeting glimpses of Rhonda and none of the keyboard player.
It sounds too much of a wash-sound for Rebello but still could be: versatile. Top band as ever; everyone wants to play with Sir Jeff!
Pretty sure there _is no_ kbd player -- as with Jennifer Batten, I believe that the 2nd guitarist is playing synth.
How many guitars do you have? I noticed when your performing with Jeff you sometimes change guitars. Why do you do this?
