    There might be some confusion about the blocks I used, I was trying to go a bit higher which is why I went to a smaller block but after doing so it was too high for my taste so I just installed back the 2" block I already had since the longer shackle added enough height by itself. The blocks are to dial the stance only and I had both of them already.

    All info you talked about here is ok EXCEPT for the drilling of the leaf springs. Don't do it! I've seen at least 4 trucks come into my shop over the yrs where the young owners thought it was good idea drill new hole in leaf spring, either to relocate axle, or mount airbag, and each time the leaf spring(s) broke in a matter of months. Drilling a whole in a leaf spring is never a safe idea ☹️. But the axle relocation brackets you went with are a good and safe option.

      I agree that drilling is a pretty sketchy way to go about it. I'd definitely recommend to get the right relocation kit or if anything avoid the lowering leafs all together to begin with

    I don't understand why you went with a longer shackle. A longer shackle will raise your truck in this procedure you claimed would give you better ride. Your ride will mostly be effected by clearance between your axle and frame. Also, make sure you use a shock that collapses enough. Beautiful truck!! I've been watching your channel for a while now and love your ideas.

      The longer shackle is to get back a bit of that travel the original shackle has. Since the leaf is longer the oem shackle it’s closer to the frame and on big dips is more likely to move and hit your frame. Not saying this is happening all the time but that plus the distance between frame and axle as well will make the ride harsher. The shackle just helps on this as there is now more travel should it need it. You are correct that this raised the truck about .5-.75 inch compared to before which you have to account for if you wanna stay low. The ride is way better now tho. You can feel the difference with this shackle, the extra heigh between frame and axle, and the axle back to its original position vs how it was before

    Would installing the shackles lower it by much wanting my b2000 2 inch lower have reset leafs and 2 inch blocks tried 4 inch blocks but the strut is way to low to the ground would shackles fix this

      Installing shackles will raise the rear of your truck, it won't lower it and it won't change the position of your strut mount. The blocks is what changes the position of your mount since they go between the mount and the axle.

    Man I’ve got the same set up as you with the one piece drive shaft and 3 in lowering blocks. After doing so did you ever notice a lot of vibration coming from the rear of the truck and has your transmission tail seal come loose from the vibration? Was your pinion angle off or could it be that my rear axle is bad?

      Haven’t had any of the issues you described besides the off center of the wheels which I fixed with the method on the video. Could of been a combination of old/worn parts that caused this for you perhaps

      @@FlakeGarage I’ve replaced everything, the whole drive train is brand new, new motor, new transmission, new drive shaft, new leaf spring bushings and shocks, all except the rear axle. Did you add pinion shims to your rear axle?

    Or you could just kept it ole school and only spent 60 dollars on good 3 inch blocks and pulled all your leafs except main and overload and been done with it the first time.👍

      Same could of been said for belltech if they had done their leafs properly. This is the fix for those that need it, definitely not for everyone 🤙🏼

    For lowering blocks is the bigger the block the lower the truck?

    • @FlakeGarage
      @FlakeGarage  Год назад +1

      Yes, the bigger the block, the lower the truck will be but just be aware that blocks bigger than 3” might need to be angled

    Moral of the story here is... don't buy lowering leaf springs, unless u want to do all this unnecessary work and waste of money(belltech leafs, relocator, shackles, bolts) bc at the end of the day, u still had to go w bigger lowering blocks. U should've put the stock leafs back on and returned or sold the belltech lowering leafs.✌️

      Don't buy the leafs if you don't want this headache, but if you are stuck with them for any reason, this is one way to fix them. Some people might not have their factory leafs anymore or simply might want to make them work. The confusion on the blocks is that I went to smaller ones first since I wanted to raise the truck a bit but the shackle did enough on it's own that I just put back my 2" blocks I had to begin with
