ep171 - I picked up an old Charles Alvey and son side cast reel and Rod for $20 at the local Tip shop and after cleaning it up decided to take it queenfish Fishing. (Talk about fun)

Do you still use the alvey Trev? Does a rod that size need one of those open runners? I have never used an alvey but always wanted to give it a try

I still use the Alvey for fun sometimes but have never used an open runner (just run the line in by hand) but like eggbeater for most of my fishing as faster to wind in and easier to use.

Having a choice i would choose an egg beater over an alvey any day .
